Everyone sat in Spencer's hospital room, intently watching her and her large protruding stomach, listening to the three heartbeats coming from her and waiting to see if it would spike up or not.

They were so caught up in the moment that no one noticed the doctor come into the room until he spoke up, startling them.

"How's everyone doing today?" The doctor asked.

No one answered him, it was clear on their faces how they were doing so asking the question was quite redundant.

"What's going on? It's been 4 days already?" Kaden spoke up, his tone laced with worry.

Donavan couldn't help but send a glare Kaden's way. He was irritated at the fact that Kaden seemed to care about Spencer a little too much.

"As far as the babies, they're completely fine. Spencer on the other hand, not so much. When her air supply was cut off, her human self was slipping away, giving up on life and right before she gave up, in order to ensure the safety of her babies, she let her wolf have complete control. At the moment, Spencer's human side doesn't exist. Even if it does, It's locked away inside of her and her wolf won't let her out because her human isn't mentally stable enough to carry the babies. Her human gave up because she was heartbroken from the rejection and the assault she faced from her mate, she didn't want to live anymore." The doctor explained and with every word he said, their eyes widened even more.

"So she's gone? Is that what you're trying to say? Spencer's gone?" Kaden spluttered.

"No no, the human Spencer is gone. Right now, she's all wolf. The only way we can know if the human side of her still exists is when she has the baby. Her mate can be able to communicate with her wolf then and see if he can bring her back." The doctor replied solemnly.

"Why can't he just talk to her wolf now?" Kaden spoke up again.

"He can't. Her wolf is using everything and every strength it's got on the babies, keeping them alive. She wouldn't even bat an eyelash if there was an attack right now. Her only concern and main priority is her pups." He replied, trying to explain as much as he could.

"If her human side is gone, why is she still human?" Conrad spoke up this time.

"A wolf can't carry a werewolf baby, werewolf babies are born human and a wolf can't carry a human baby. Spencer's wolf is preserving her human body and keeping it working so that she can be able to carry the babies full term. Although since she is more wolf than human, we should be expecting the boys in about a month and a half." The doctor said, cracking a little smile.

The doctor turned towards Donavan, watching him with nothing but awe and amazement.

"Your majesty, it's a complete honor to be in your presence." He spoke, about to get on his knees and bow to Donavan but Kaden immediately grabbed one of his arms, pulling him up.

"You bow to people who are worthy of it. He isn't worthy of it. He's a king because his bloodline makes him a king, but he hasn't got the heart and character of a king." Kaden growled venomously.

"What the fuck is your problem Kaden? What have I ever done to you?" Donavan finally blew up.

"What have you done to me?" Kaden asked incredulously. "Every bad thing you've done to Spencer, you've done to me. I'm the shoulder she cries on, I'm the one who listens to her vent about you, I'm the one who's always there. For years, it was just the both of us, looking after each other, we've always been each other's responsibilities. I'd do anything for her just as she would for me. Spencer is my sister! You hurt her, you hurt me!" Kaden retaliated.

"You have feelings for her don't you? That's why you're so worried about what happens to her. You love her." Donavan said, voicing his suspicions.

Before Kaden could reply, Chris cut into their banter.

"That's enough!" Chris yelled. "Kaden you need to calm down, Donavan you too."

Kaden huffed before sitting back down and turning away from everyone.

The room became deadly silent, so silent you could hear a pin drop.

"Where's Grendel?" Donavan asked, breaking the silence.

"Don't worry about it." Kaden smartly retorted.

"You guys have her?" He asked Conrad this time, ignoring Kaden.

Conrad was trying hard not to pummel Donavan. With every syllable Donavan spoke, he could feel his hands and body twitching. His wolf was itching to beat him to the brink of death for hurting his pup but he knew that hitting another alpha meant a declaration of war and he couldn't risk it.

He decided to ignore Donavan and act like he didn't exist. He had half a mind to kick Donavan out of the room and request that the hospital not let him near his daughter again but his wife had talked him against it.

Donavan could feel the tension in the room and he knew it was all directed at him. After all, it was his fault that all of this was happening.

"So no ones going to answer me?" He growled, getting irritated.

They all completely ignored him. Kaden busied himself on his phone while Chris and Conrad were handling business on their laptops and Kaden and Spencer's mothers engaged in a conversation.

"Why are you so worried about her?" Kaden asked, his eyes never leaving his phone screen.

"I just want to know why. Why she chose to do this to me and Spencer." Donavan said in a pleading tone.

"And here I was thinking you wanted to beat her to death." Kaden murmured, still never taking his eyes off his phone.

"I could never hit a woman." Donavan replied incredulously.

"But you can choke one." Kaden jabbed at him.

Donavan visibly flinched at that. He didn't know how to reply to that statement.

"I know what I did was wrong but I really would never hit a woman, even if the woman is Grendel." Donavan said, trying to plead his case.

"Well, speak for yourself. I'm beating and torturing that bitch to death. She's not considered a woman. I stopped viewing her as a woman the second she decided to play mind games." Kaden said shrugging.

Donavan stared wide eyed at Kaden. Kaden didn't look like someone capable of murder.

"You'd kill her?" He gasped.

For the first time since they begun their conversation, Kaden averted his gaze from his phone screen.

"She fucked with my family. It's like deliberately walking into the lions den; now, it's time for the pride to feed on her carcass." Kaden said calmly before turning back to his phone.

It was obvious everyone in the room had heard what Kaden said, but no one seemed to bat an eye at his statement.

Donavan continued to stare on in shock, his mouth in-deliberately agape.

"Close your mouth son, flies might get in." Chris spoke up, his eyes still glued to the laptop screen.

Donavan quickly snapped his mouth shut but he still couldn't get his mind off what Kaden had said.

Kaden on the other hand, was enjoying how uncomfortable his statement had made Donavan feel. Donavan continued squirming around uncomfortably in his seat and he couldn't help but smirk.

It was getting late and although Kaden didn't want to leave Spencer, he knew he had to. He had a mate at home waiting for him and he also had to handle Grendel.

He stood up, said goodbye to everyone but Donavan and walked out of the room with a lot on his mind.

If Spencer didn't make it, he didn't know what he would do. It's always been the both of them for all 18 years of their lives and he just couldn't imagine life without her.

On his drive home, he contemplated on either going home to his mate first or going to relieve his stress on Grendel. In the end, he decided on going to see Grendel first but when he walked in, he was stunned to see his mate delivering severe blows to Grendel's body.

"Blake! Baby what are you doing?" He asked running up to her, snaking his arms around her waist and pulling her away from Grendel's limp, bleeding body.

He could feel her shaking and he could feel her anger through their bond. Spencer and Blake has fined a bond since they met and on their trip to Nicaragua, Blake played a huge role in pulling Spencer out of her depressed funk. It brought them closer together and they were acting like they had known each other for years. Blake was the first close girlfriend Spencer has ever had and Spencer was also Blake's so her reaction was understandable.

"Calm down baby." Kaden whispered into her ear, nuzzling her neck and kissing his mark.

Almost instantly, Blake calmed down and stared up at him with all the love in the world.

"I'm sorry." She apologized. "It's just that... I know Spencer and I just met but I feel close to her and I know what she means to you and the fact that this swine over here has something to do with it angers me. I see how stressed out you are over it and it only fuels my anger even more."

"It's okay baby, I understand. I know you like Spencer, she liked you too but don't hurt yourself trying to hurt Grendel." Kaden soothed her. Pecking her lips.

"What do you mean liked?" Blake asked him.

"Huh?" Kaden asked cluelessly.

"You said liked, as in past tense." She murmured.

Kaden released a stressful sigh before pulling Blake out of earshot of Grendel.

"The doctor says Spencer's human side gave up on living because she couldn't handle the heartbreak and pain caused by Grendel. She's all wolf right now, we don't know if her human side still exists or not and we won't find out until the babies are here." He explained and watches helplessly as a steady stream of tears ran down her cheeks.

Kaden gasped when he noticed her eyes begin to glow just like it has when her spell was broken. She looked angry and Kaden was scared for his mate.

"Baby, calm down." Kaden pleased but Blake was already consumed by her anger.

She marced over to Grendel and with a flick of her wrist, broke all the chains that were restraining her.

She reached both her arms outward towards Grendel and raised them up high and Kaden watched in awe as Grendel's body was lifted off the ground.

Grendel looked terrified. She had never experienced a power this strong, even her mother Lydia wasn't strong enough to so what this young witch was doing.

Before Grendel has the time to open up her mouth and pleas her case. She screamed out in agony. She felt like her insides were boiling, the immense pain she felt all through her body was unbearable.

After a while. Her vision clouded and she couldn't see anything. Kaden watched his mate roeture Grendel and he couldn't do anything but watch. He was rooted at his spot, gawking at the mess Grendel looked like.

She was bleeding out if her nose, eyes, mouth and ears. There were bumps all over her body, it looked like her skin was boiling from the inside out and for some sadistic reason, he didn't feel any remorse for her at all.

Grendel's deadening screams filled the dungeon for about ten minutes before it abruptly stopped and Blake dropped her arms and watched as Grendel's lifeless body dropped to the floor.

Kaden walked over to check Grendel's pulse and smiled a little when he felt none. He turned around just in time to see his mate, looking pale and drained.

"Baby? Are you okay?" He asked her, cautiously approaching her.

When Kaden got close to her, he noticed how weak she looked. He reached out a hand to pull her into him, but obviously, Blake's body had other plans because before Kaden could touch her. She fell lifeless lay into his arms.
