No mist!

One minute Ms. Robins is rambling on about the history behind Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliette, the next minute her hair is burning and one of her legs is solid metal while the other looks like a donkey's.

Behind me someone screams at the top of they're lungs. But I can't move, I'm still immobilized in shock.

My teacher is one half robot, one half donkey and her hair is on fire.

Holy shitzu puppies.

Then all the sudden they're's an arrow protruding from her back and Ms. Jones has dissolved into dust.

I blink.

I blink again.

Then I slump in my chair and blackout.

Something cold and wet hits my face and my eyes shoot open.

"Laila?" My math teacher, Mrs. Jebroski stands over me, an empty cup in her hands.

"What happened?"

"You went into shock, sweetie. You fainted," she replies. "Now come on, there's been an emergency assembly to tell you why all this weird stuff has been happening." She pulls me up from the chair.

That's when it all comes back to me.

I fall against her. "Ms. Robins. Her hair...her legs...oh gosh there was an arrow..."

"Laila, don't think about it now. It'll all be explained, I promise," Mrs. Jebroski reassures.

I nod, eyes wide as I try to block out the memory.

"Now, come on. Let's get you to the assembly."

I nod again, and follow her in silence as she half carries me to the auditorium. Once there, we settle into seats at the back. Mrs. Jebroski hands me a full glass of water. I don't even know when she got it.

"Students and teachers. There has been many weird things happening this morning," Headmistress Matthews pauses. We all wait with baited breath, only one question in all of our minds, 'Why have they been happening?'

"I don't know why they've been happening—"

Someone rushes the stage. "GIVE ME AN ANSWER DAMMIT! I DIDN'T COME HERE TO HEAR YOU TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW. I WANT TO KNOW WHY MY PET POODLE SUDDENLY GREW FIVE TIMES ITS SIZE AND HAS GLOWING RED EYES! SO GIVE ME AN DAMN ANSWER!!"

Just as the girl is finishing her little freak out, a tall woman strides forwards, I recognize her as our Phys. Ed teacher, Mrs. Granth.

"Girls!" she exclaims. "Behave! You are at Clarion Academy. You are proper young woman. Act like it."

"Yes, Mrs. Granth," we all say in perfect synch.

"Now, believe it or not, I do in fact have an explanation for all these strange happenings," she confirms. "Headmistress Matthews, if you would."

Headmistress steps away from the stand and Mrs. Granth takes her place behind it.

"Girls, this is shocking news. You will not believe me at first. In fact you'll probably try to lock me up in a padded cell for going mad. But this is the truth.

"Now, you've all heard of the Greek Gods," she begins. The auditorium nods, confused as to what she's getting at. "Well they're real."

I blink.

I blink again.

I shake my head.

"The Gods of Ancient Greece are real. And this is not a joke. All those myths, are true. Monsters, demigods, the hunters of Artemis, the Labyrinth, Giants, the Underworld, Mount Olympus... Every single bit is true.
