Every Good Thing

It always seems

As if every wonderful feeling I have

When I leave church

That wholeness

That wellness

That glow

Is diminished and blown out

As soon as I get in the car

Or reach my house

By some force

Because of something that is said

That gets under my skin

Makes me want to scream in frustration

And every good feeling

Flutters away

Until there is nothing left

That not even a cute boy asking if I needed a ride home

Or a Bible lesson that almost brought me to tears

Could seem to possibly rebuild

Because every good thing

Seems to disappear

When I walk through our front door
