To Collin, a little boy who is free now.  He can play football like he always wanted to.  He will be missed.  May God's love surround him and his family.  Peace be with them.

The last time she had a crush

It was on him

Three years ago

And now…

He’s gone

The last time he was strong

With a shock of blond hair

Three years ago

And…

No more

What else is there to write

About a little boy

Who’s life disappeared

Three short years

After he became a cancer patient?

I can’t say that I knew him

I met him twice

I can’t say I know what it was like

Being prodded with needles a few times

Compared to

Sister

No more

Mother Father

No longer

Are they still a family?

Three years ago

Who was this beaming boy?

Who was this beautiful family?

Who are they now?

Who will they be without their boy?

Their little, little boy

Children shouldn’t have to go through that

Little children shouldn’t have to die

They shouldn’t!

they can’t

It’s not fair

It’s not fair

It’s not fair

IT’S NOT FAIR

No…

God, why?

Why this little boy?

Why must you take him from

The arms of his family and community

Into yours instead?

Yours are much better

I know that

He is safe and free

He is new and whole

But, why?

The community rallied together for this little boy

Was that the purpose of his struggle?

To save a town

Flourishing with fakes

By not saving a boy?

A little boy?

Was that his purpose?

To hold a group of people so tightly in his weak grip

That once he was gone

They would still stick together?

Like glue

Perhaps I see now, Lord

I see

I don’t like it

But I see
