A while ago

I was naïve enough to think that

I couldn’t lose any of my friends

That they’d always be there

They’d never leave

But that was quickly changed as September hit

When a fight broke out

And none were left standing

Recently

I was gullible enough to think that

I couldn’t make any more friends

That the ones I had

Were the ones I got

But that quickly changed this September

When I met the sweetest person

Right in the middle of the science lab

Yes, silly me
