The Darkest Day

For those who either are not Christian or celebrate the holiday on a different day, today for me is Good Friday.  It is a day where we remember the day that Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for all of our sins.

---

It is the darkest day by far

Songs in minor key

Black drapes upon cut down trees

When the world was midnight in the afternoon

A savior that has died for me

The stories of the mockery

The pain

The injustice

Six hours he hung in pain

Slowly

S l o w l y

Questioning his hurtful fate

“God, why have you forsaken me?”

But not too long after

The resemblance of a man upon that cross

Promised his heart for us

And by death was free

We remember this man

And think of him everyday

Promising to keep his heart safe

Inside our own

I have found why they call it Good

Because all Good has come from what he did

But every time

I find that I am short of breath

By the time the

Final

Candle

Is

Extinguished.
