I should be here with Ethan. He should be by my side when I finally find out the truth, but I am so mad I can't be in the same room as him. How could he lie to me like that? When did he become into the man he is now?

"Carter." I looked up, and saw Katherina enter the room with a beautiful baby boy. The way she was holding him, you would think the baby was covered in mud. I quickly stood up and took the baby from her, I was scared she would drop him. "Here are the results."

"You didn't open them?" I looked down at the sealed envelope. My heart hasn't pounded this hard since the day me and Ethan got married. I couldn't help but stare at my ring finger. I wonder what he did with the ring that night.

"No. I was going to wait for you once I got it. Imagine my surprise when I found you tucked tail and ran." She lit a cigarette, and I was quick to pull it out of her mouth and broke it. "What the hell?!"

"Are you serious?! Katherina the baby is right here!" He started crying, and I felt bed for scaring him. I started rocking him in my arms to calm him down. "Can we just look at the results."

"Go ahead, I'm getting a drink." I won't lie. Katherina still looks amazing, even after having a baby. But it's clear that she has no maternal instincts. I grabbed the envelope, and looked at the baby in my arms. I'm seriously starting to hope that this really is my baby. Just so that I can take him away from Katherina. If I don't, this baby has no chance of survival. I ripped open the envelope, and I felt my heart stop at the results.

"Do you think that this is a good one?" I pulled out a car seat and showed Freddy.

"Dude, you sure you wanna do this?" He was holding Nick in his arms, bouncing him to keep him calm.

"Yes. He may not be mine, but I am not leaving him with Katherina. She has no clue how to take care of him, and besides, she did put me as the baby's father in his birth certificate." I looked to a sleeping Nick. He does look a little like me, I can see how anyone could think he was mine. He has my dark brown hair with a little blond mixed in here and there, and blue eyes. But then again, me and Katherina both have blues eyes.

"I respect that an all, but what are you gonna tell Ethan." I looked at Nick, and smiled. He may not be mine, but I am not just going to abandon him. He deserves a place that he will be able to grow up happy in.

"Ethan doesn't have to worry about him. This is my decision, and I am sticking with it. Besides, I am more than financially stable to take care of him. I want to do this Freddy." I looked at him. He stared at me for a second, before nodding his head.

"Alright dude, count me in." I smiled at Freddy and we started looking for the rest of the things for Nick. I wasn't surprised that Katherina didn't have anything for him. She was practically jumping for joy when she heard that I would still take Nick even though he wasn't mine.

We took all his bags, and put them in the trunk of my car. Thankfully I don't really have much in there, so there was plenty of room. I set up his car seat, while Freddy held him. I found it funny how attached Freddy was to him already. Or maybe it's because Freddy now has someone to play with when I don't want to.

"Okay hand him to me." I placed him on the seat and buckled him in. I made sure that everything was secured before starting the car, and pulling out of the mall parking lot. The whole drive my phone was buzzing, but I ignored it. I don't want to hear anything from them right now. I just want to get home, and get my son set up.

"You sure you don't wanna answer at least one?" I shook my head, and he let it go. Once we got to the house, Freddy watched Nick for me while I got his things set up in my room. He is still only a few months, since Katherina was only a couple months pregnant when I left. She wasn't breastfeeding, so I also bought baby formula for him. I had them deliver a few of his things, since my car wasn't big enough. "Need help?" Freddy was standing at the door with tools in his hands, and Nick strapped to his chest like a baby kangaroo. I couldn't help but laugh.

"I still can't believe you bought it." He simply shrugged, and handed me the tools. It didn't take long to have the crib set up, and all his things put away. "Thanks Freddy."

"Don't mention it." We were quiet, watching Nick sleep. I looked to Freddy, and smiled. "Why are you staring at me like that? Oh no. Bro I like you, but you are like so not my type." he said in a high pitched voice. I laughed and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Thank you Freddy." He stepped back and placed a hand on my shoulder too.

"Dude, cut the sappy mood. We're buds, it's what we do. If you wanna walk out on your family, and become the father of this amazing little squirt, then I got your back." I scoffed at his choice of words, but was thankful none the less. I looked to Nick and realized. I am going to have to tell them eventually, might as well get it over with.

"I'm gonna call them all over for dinner tomorrow." He looked at me and smiled. He nodded his head, and said good night. I then turned to a sleeping Nick, and smiled. I took his small hand, and smiled even more when he wrapped his little fingers around mine. "It may not have ended how I expected, but I'm happy I got one good thing for my birthday." This little guy is all I could ever ask for. I just hope that all this craziness ends soon. That would really be the icing on the nonexistent birthday cake.
