A New Day (Book 2)

Chapter 43

Bucky's pov
  We're all in the conference room. I'm standing up front, seeing as I have the most information. Along with the fact that she's my girlfriend. "Something is wrong with Y/n. When we found her, her mood was completely different. She acted as though nothing happened," I start.
"Bucky's right. She didn't seem like her self," Wanda adds.

  "What do you think is wrong?" Steve asks. "I don't know," I sigh. "I could try to get into her head, but the last time I tried that it didn't work. I would have to catch her off guard," Wanda says. "Ok, but what if she's just trying to forget all of this?" Tony asks. "Think about the stress she's under," he adds.

  "That's the point," I tell him. "She was way to calm, and her hide up was perfect. Another thing is that the shower that she took was hot. There was steam coming out and fogging up the mirror. Y/n never takes hot showers. She doesn't like the opulent feeling. Besides, he cold makes feel a sense of being at home, that's what she's used to. She doesn't like change. It took me forever to get her to sleep in bed with me."

  Shit, that last part slipped out. "Woah Barnes, did you say that you two are sleeping together?" Tony asks. "It's not like that," I assure him. "I help her itch her nightmares and she helps me with mine," I explain. "Look that's not the point. The point is that she's different and I don't know why," I say, steering the conversation back on topic.

"Wait, Y/n's a righty right?" Peter asks. "Yes?" What is the kid getting at? "She opened the door with her left. She was holding the towel with her left and she opened the door with her left. If she's a righty, then she would have used her right hand," Peter explains. "Red," I sigh. "She's left handed," I tell them.

That's when you can tell that everyone now understands the situation. "What do we do?" Tony asks. "We have that meeting tomorrow and we can not miss it," he adds. "She didn't seem murderous," Wanda says. "She was just acting different," she adds. "Just keep and eye on her for the rest of the day. If things don't go as planed then we'll make up an excuse on to not go," Steve problem solves. We all nod in agreement then the door opens.

Y/n's pov
As I'm making my way down to the gym I can hear noises come from the conference room. I walk up to the door and listen in. Their talking about me. "What do we do?" Tony asks. "We have that meeting tomorrow and we can not miss it," he adds. "She didn't seem murderous. She was just acting different," Wanda chimes in. "Just keep an eye on her for the rest of the day. If things don't go as planned then we'll make up an excuse on to not go," Steve says.

  I decide to walk in and confront them. Clearly they were not expecting me. "Y/n? What are you doing here?" Bucky asks. "I'm not her. I'm stressed that's all. If things don't go as planned tomorrow then I'm screwed," I tell them. Bucky walks towards me and grabs my hand. "Why were you using your left hand?" He asks. "What?" I ask annoyed.

"Your a righty, but she uses her left." I sigh, "I didn't realize that I was using my left hand. Barnes, I'm fine, you need to believe me. If I wasn't then I would tell you," I tell him. I just needed space and to get the other voices to calm down. "Ok, if you say so." We share a kiss and then he leaves.

  Come night time, I decided to go out and just protect the city. I didn't know what else to do. I had to go though without anyone knowing. I could see them not liking this, but I didn't care. So, I dress up in my old Hydra outfit and take off through the window. But before I do, I look back to see Bucky's resting figure.

  As I jump out, I use my grappling hook and swing to one of the nearby building. I find some smaller crimes and stop those. Most of them were girls getting mugged or some asshole trying to rob a house. Simple easy things. I liked this, I liked that I was able to use my abilities for good for one. Come sunrise, it was time for me to head back.
