Ooooo 1k!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! LOVE YOU ALL!!

(H/T) - Home Town

(D/J) - Dream Job
______

The little town was a beautiful. It was full of life and small little shops, containing pastries or trinkets. You honestly felt like you could let your guard down, feeling protected in the warmth of the sweet scent of cake and sugar. But you kept your head up above the great smell, alert. The walk around the town was quite, Tails only talking here and there as he spoke about the street and shops. You often forgot he was walking next to you, until he spoke.

"So. Whats your story?" He politely asked, tilting his head to look down at you with a friendly grin. You felt your heart stop in panic.

"M-My story," you stuttered, hoping he would notice your lack of comfort on the topic. But alas, he didn't.

"Yeah? Like... How did you come here? Where are ya from? Whats your job? ya know, normal stuff." he replied, tucking his hands in his pilot leather jacket. His ears perked in interest, his tails swishing out of sync of each other as he looked at you with his piercing blue eyes.

You felt sweat pool at you hands, making the paper bag holding your items (you had collected it before following Tails around the town) damp. You ears flattened as you glanced around, avoiding his beautiful... bright blue eyes. Clearing your dry throat, you gazed back up at him, meeting his gentle gaze. And you felt obligated to tell the truth... well most of the truth. After all, he was the enemy... but you couldn't help but feel calm in his presence.

"Well, I was born in (H/T) and moved here because of my job, (D/J). They were lacking staff and I was called in," you rubbed your neck and looked away, feeling oddly guilty for lying about being a (D/J). Tails caught onto this, noticing your movements but decided to ignore it.

"That's all I suppose. Nothing really interesting," you concluded. Chuckling a little, trying to clear the guilt you felt.

"Really?" Tails eyes you suspiciously, his eyes flicking to the paper bag back to you. He turned his gaze back forward, shrugging his shoulders as he continued, "You just seem like someone who has a secret story to tell. Considering you skill back there, and the fact your carrying medical supplies." You internally froze, fur pricking up. How did he know? You made extra sure that you covered the medical supplies with random items so he wouldn't be suspicious. But he did. How?

"But I do suppose it does take time to tell a friend that. I can respect that. Trust is a testy emotional state. A disorder some may say," Tails analysed, not noticing that you had stopped walking a few steps back. Turning towards you, he watched as you stood deathly still. He titled his head at you, his bangs falling to the side. Your mind rushed, trying to take apart his words.

"F-friend?" He just stared as you stuttered, "You want to.. be my friend?"

He rolled his eyes with a joyous smile, "Of course I do. I wouldn't ask a stranger. That's just asking to get robbed."

You ears flattened as you tail fell down to the floor, slightly tucking under your legs. "But I am a stranger. You don't know me."

Tails walked towards you, sliding smoothly next to you before bumping you with his shoulder.

"Yes I do. Your (Y/N) a (A/T) who lived in (H/T) that moved to this small town because of your job, (D/J), who is a hero for saving a little girl. I think I know enough to assume your not a deranged killer."

Your ears and tail twitch as he finishes. You may not be a killer, but you have done some bad things. You're no hero. You're the villain. You could never be Tails's friend.

Never.

Once he learned who you were, it would be out on the streets with you.

"Come," Tails caught your attention as he begun walking again, "You look hungry. I know a great place to eat. And don't worry about paying, its my treat." He quickly winked at you with a smirk, before spinning around and continuing to walk. You couldn't resist but grinning yourself, his childish attitude infecting your thoughts. However, you couldn't help but continuously return to that weighing feeling of guilt.

He is the enemy! Your shouldn't feel this!

But yet, you did.

He called you his friend. He showed you compassion and understanding. You followed behind him with a hurting heart. Dreading what you were about to do.

Tossing and turning, you couldn't sleep. Your bed itching you through your pyjamas. You felt hot with guilt as it continued to burn your heart like a piece of coal. You groaned as you shuffled in your bed again. You kicked off the blankets as you sat up, placing your face in your hands. Dragging your hands down your face you grumbled.

Swinging your legs over the bed, you went over to your bathroom. Leaning against the sink, you stared at yourself in the mirror.

"Liar," you growled at your reflection. "Cheat. Cruel hearted, no good, despicable, evil." Your mouth spewed out words of hate. Anger at yourself being spat on the mirror. Words of hate repeated as you grew angrier and angrier at yourself. You only stopped once you noticed tears in your own eyes. You shook you head before looking straight down at the white sink. Salty tears rolled down your muzzle, dropping on the ceramic.

Drip.

Drip.

"Disgusting," you finally whispered. Closing your eyes, you took a deep breath. Upon opening your eyes, you unwillingly found yourself remembering what you did.
