Handmaiden

You let out a tired groan when your eyes shifted at the clock on your wall

'7:48, I guess I'd better get up' you sighed and got up, proceeding to put your maiden attire once again

You hurried out your room before the clock struck 8am but as you opened the door Lady Dimitrescu was standing just outside

"Oh Y/N! Glad to see you awake" she gave you a warm smile

"H-hm? Oh my lady!" You bowed to her "I was just on my way to your chamber" your face lit up in confusion when you realized you actually had no idea to get there "uh.. actually, where is that exactly?"

"That's why I'm here dear, it completely flew over my head that you didn't know this place like the other maiden's, they started they're training long before you" she grimaced and put a hand on her hip "we needed an emergent replacement after- 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕" she took a long pause "but here you are. Now, follow me"

She started walking but one step for her felt like five for you, you hurried and kept up with her

You took many turns through long hallways and you tried your best to remember everything she showed you, from the kitchen, living space, her study and even the bathrooms

"I truly do hope you're memorizing all of these places Y/N, I expect all my maiden's to know my castle by heart, their first week here" she turned her head towards you slightly and pierced you with her golden yellow eyes

You swallowed dry "yes, my lady of course" you nodded and kept following her

She arrived to her private chamber and opened the door, bending down to get in her room, you entered behind her finding it abnormal for someone to be so tall- let alone needing to bend down to get through doors

Your let out a small giggle and tried to play it off as if you were coughing

Lady Dimitrescu sat at her vanity and looked at herself in the mirror "if you find something funny Y/N, please do share.." her voice was stern and ice cold

You composed yourself and shook your head "n-no my lady! My apologies.. it's just.. you're so tall, I've never seen anyone quite like you"

"Quite like me?" She didn't like you commentary and turned on her chair to face you

"N-no! I no! My lady I didn't m-mean it like that!" You stammered 'oh gosh, good job Y/N you'll probably get killed because of this'

Not noticing the countess now in front of you, she crouched down and lifted your chin with her what seemed like 20 inch claw as fingers, she examined you for quite some time, admiring your features "hmm" the low hum came out of the taller woman's mouth

You breathed sharply and squirmed a bit

She handed you a piece of paper "these are your tasks for the day. Don't screw them up." She got up slowly, retracting her claws "I expect highly of you, Y/N. and don't worry about my daughter's interfering with you, I've had a serious talk with them"

"y...y-yes my lady!" You gripped the piece of paper in your palm, scared to lose it "i'll be on my way then! T-thank you!"

You quickly shifted towards the door and walked out closing the door in a hurry afterwards

'Oh, good job Y/N just as I thought things were getting better here you messed it up! But... those claws, where did they come from?..' Silently cursing at yourself you looked down at the piece of paper looking at all the chores you had in store

'make the bathrooms spotless, make dinner, clean the fireplaces around the castle, mop the floors and tidy up the library' you stared at the piece of paper for at least a minute 'she expects me to do all of these in one day?!'

You sighed internally and placed the paper in your left pocket

"I guess I should get to work.." you sighed audibly this time and went on your way
