Chapter 15 - Maya

Today I was given horrible news...Happy was in an explosion.
I sat by his side in the hospital and cried....I didn't understand why this happened. I softly held onto his hand and put in his favorite show. "I'll see you soon Happy." I wipe my tears and make sure the blanket is over him, I then have to make my way to work.

All day I couldn't think, I was hoping Happy would be okay.

I jumped at the sound of my phone dinging, thinking it's an update about Happy but instead it's news about Tony....he really just gave out our address to the Mandarin.

I quickly grab my things and walk outside to my car, dialing Tony's number, of course he doesn't answer. "Anthony Edward Stark, I swear to god I will kill you. You talk about keeping me safe then you go an give out our address! What were you thinking? We are leaving, whether you like it or not....love you." I end the voicemail and speed through the traffic, I was pissed.

After packing two bags, I could hear the door open. "Tony is someone there?" I ask as I drop the bags off the ledge.

"Yeah, it's Maya Hansen. Old botanist pal that I used to know, barely." He calls over as I walk down the stairs. I zip up my jeans and flatten out my shirt as I walk over to the two.

"I'm sorry. With Happy in the hospital, I didn't know we were expecting guests." I smile.

"We weren't."

"No, I..." Maya starts.

"And old girlfriends!" I laugh.

"She's not really."

"No, not really. It...it was just one night." Mya shrugs.

"Yep."

"That's how you did it, isn't it? Yep." I turn to Tony and frown.

"It was a great night."

"Well, you know..." I start.

"Yeah." Maya awkwardly smiles.

"You have saved yourself a world of pain." I smile.

"I'm sure." She laughs.

"What?"

"Trust me." I turn to Tony, "We're going out of town."

"Okay, we've been through this. Nope."

"Yep!" I argue.

"The man says no."

"Immediately and indefinitely!" I yell.

"Honey..."

"Great idea. Let's go." Maya reaches down to grab our bags.

"I'm sorry. That's a terrible idea. Please don't touch her bags." Tony raises his voice.

"Tony, this is how normal people behave." I try to calm him down.

"I can't protect you out there. I challenged..."

"Is...is that normal?" Maya points to the large stuffed rabbit.

"Yes, this is normal!" Tony yells.

"Sadly, that...is very normal." I sigh.

"It's a big bunny, relax about it!" Tony yells again.

"Calm down!" I softly grab his shoulder.

"I got this for you."

"I'm aware of that." I roll my eyes.

"You still haven't even told me that you liked it!"

"I don't like it!" I throw my hands up in frustration.
