Peter and I sat in Tony's office, sat on the business side of his desk. He leant against his desk, gripping it tightly as the others stood around the room.
"Y/N, are you absolutely sure that you saw him? That you saw Bucky? Because if he's also immortal, that's really fucking bad." Tony nodded. I gulped and looked at him.
"I really wish that I was wrong, Tony. I realise that we're in some deep shit if he's one of my kind. But I know what I saw. I felt Bucky die, and then I saw him killing a handful of innocent civilians in what looked to be a war-torn city." I explained. Tony sighed and nodded as he looked down.
"Well, fuck." He mumbled.
"How long do we have?" Steve asked. I gulped and looked between everyone.
"Depends on where he is. He knows where I am now, and I can only assume that he's coming here since he knows who I am, and since there don't seem to be any more of us around right now. He could be here in weeks, could be days. I don't know." I shook my head.
"We have a game plan, right? We can't kill him, so what do we do?" Peter gulped.
"Depends on how long he's been around for. But we can safely assume that he's only been around for as long as Steve has been." Natasha nodded.
"Which means that his wounds probably won't start being fatal for another few centuries." I gulped.
"And neither will yours, since you've only been alive for twenty years." Tony continued.
"So, what you're saying is that we're fucked." Peter sighed. I returned it and bit my lip.
"What if we converted him?" Steve suggested. Everyone looked at him.
"Well that's a fucking stupid suggestion." Natasha nodded, making Steve squint his eyes at her. Tony looked at me.
"You felt him die, Y/N, and you saw the carnage that happened afterwards. Do you think that he can be turned into one of us?" he asked. I sighed and bit my lip as I returned the gaze.
"He killed a handful of people in cold blood. That being said, he also can't die, and neither can I, which leaves you guys. And that's not an option." I shook my head. Tony nodded.
"I guess that we're making him join us, then. That's our only option. You guys are free to go." He spoke. Everyone nodded and Peter and I stood up, Peter's hand landing on the small of my back as we left Tony's office.
"Well that wasn't stressful at all." Peter puffed out as he opened the door to our bedroom and we walked in. I sighed and nodded, crossing my arms over my chest as I looked at him.
"Why did he have to be immortal? Out of all people? Why him? Why not you?" I groaned, making Peter chuckle and nod as he walked to me. He bit his lip, his stunning orbs staring into mine as he gently ran his hands down my arms before curling them around my waist and pulling me into him.
"I need you to be honest with me, babe." He stated. I gulped and nodded, making him give me a small smile. But I could tell that it was forced.
"What are the chances that we walk out of this alive? And I'm not including you in that, for obvious reasons." He chuckled slightly, but I knew that he didn't mean the humour in the chuckle. I gulped and bit my lip.
"I swear, Peter, that I won't let any of you get hit. I don't care if I die a hundred times, none of you will die." I shook my head.
"Babe, you can't promise that-."
"I can, and I am, Pete." I nodded as I gently took his face into my hands. He sighed and looked at me.
"I will die over and over again, if it means that you guys survive. If it means that you survive." I promised. Peter sighed and bit his lip.
"Preferably, you won't die at all, but I know that that's not that realistic given what Bucky is like." He mumbled. I nodded and looked at him.
"I love you, Pete." I whispered.
"I love you too, Y/N. God, I love you." He scoffed and shook his head. I bit my lip, tears pricking my eyes as I leant up and pressed my lips to his. He returned it immediately, holding my face as he did. Moments like this were always hard. Sure, I was immortal and I was a young one at that, but the truth was that one day, I'd get injured, and I wouldn't wake up. Whilst that moment wasn't likely to come for another few centuries, nothing was certain, and so Peter and I always kissed and said goodbye before a mission. Just in case I didn't wake up. Peter broke the kiss, tears also running down his face as he joined our foreheads and held my face in his hands.
"Guys, he's here." Steve's voice sounded over the intercom. I gulped and looked at Peter, making him nod as he let me go.
"Let's do this." He spoke, making me give him a small smile as we started to get our suits on.
Peter and I rushed downstairs, gunfire having rung out through the Tower as we had been getting ready into our suits. As soon as we ran through the double doors, both of us were grabbed and yanked to the side. I screamed, though it was cut off by a hand quickly covering my mouth.
"It's just me, relax." Steve whispered into my ear. I sighed in relief and looked at the other side of the corridor to see Peter also being held down by Tony as the man looked around the corner. He looked at me.
"He's through there. You need to go first, for obvious reasons." He whispered. I nodded as Steve gently put me down, my feet silently touching the ground.
"Try to kill him and get him down so that we can get to him. And obviously try not to die yourself." Steve shrugged. I rolled my eyes to myself as I dug my guns out of my leg holsters.
"Gotcha." I mumbled, flicking my eyes up to look at Peter. He gulped and nodded at me, making me return the nod as I crept along the hallway. Suddenly something started clattering as it rolled towards me, my eyes widening as I saw it.
"TAKE COVER!" I yelled to the Avengers, diving to the left as the grenade exploded. I landed harshly against the wall, making me groan. I looked up, my eyes widening further as Bucky stormed towards me.
"Shit." I gulped as I raised my guns and started to rapidly fire at him. He groaned as the bullets entered him harshly, his body jerking as several entered his body and torso. He choked as he collapsed onto his knees in front of me, blood oozing from his mouth as he collapsed fully onto the floor. I sighed in relief and stood up.
"Guys, he's down. I shot him a lot and he's new to this, so it should take him a while to come back." I gulped, looking down the hall as the others started to slowly emerge.
"How long do you think that we have?" Tony asked. I gulped and looked at them.
"I don't know, ten minutes maybe?" I shrugged. Suddenly, Peter's gaze moved past me and his eyes widened.
"Y/N, watch out!" my ankle was grabbed, making my eyes widen as Bucky yanked me down to the floor. My head smacked against the material, making me cry out as he pulled out his gun and aimed it at my chest.
"NO!"
Peter's P.O.V
"How long do you think that we have?" Tony asked Y/N. She gulped and looked at them.
"I don't know, ten minutes maybe?" she shrugged. Peter's gaze moved past his girlfriend, his eyes widening as Bucky reached his hand out to her ankle.
"Y/N, watch out!" he yelled. But it was too late. Bucky grabbed Y/N's ankle and yanked her down, making her cry out as her head smacked against the floor. He pulled out his gun and aimed for her chest, making Peter's eyes widen further.
"NO!" he yelled as Bucky fired the gun, killing Y/N instantly. Peter knew that she would come back, but there was naturally always the worry that this time would be the last for her.
"You son of a bitch." Peter spat as he fired a web at Bucky, the sticky substance taking hold of the gun so that Peter could yank it away from the man. He fired another two webs at Bucky, this time making the strings attach to his shoulders. He pulled on the strings and launched himself at the soldier, his feet colliding with Bucky's face.
"Nice shot, kid!" Steve praised as Tony fired his cannons at Bucky and Steve helped force him down onto his knees with his shield. Peter looked at Y/N as he fought to keep his place on Bucky's shoulders, but his eyes wavered at what he saw. She was still dead. This wasn't right, usually she came back within seconds of dying but it had been at least a minute by this point.
"Mr Stark, Y/N hasn't come back yet." He choked.
"She will do, kid, give her time." Tony reassured, Bucky groaning as the three of them managed to get him fully onto his knees. Steve quickly grabbed Bucky's gun and fired a shot into the man's head, making him immediately collapse onto the ground.
"Y/N, fuck." Peter choked as he immediately climbed off of Bucky and rushed to Y/N instead. He collapsed on his knees next to her and gently pulled her body into his arms. His eyes wavered, more tears leaving them as the bullet hole in her chest still hadn't started to heal. She was still very much dead, and it had been a few minutes. This was taking way too long.
"Y/N, please, you promised that you'd come back to me!" he cried.
"Hey, hey, it'll be okay. Let's get Bucky locked up and then we can deal with Y/N, okay? She'll probably come back in the time that it takes to deal with him." Tony reassured. Peter nodded and sniffed as he gently picked Y/N up bridal style, following Tony and Steve as they dragged Bucky's body towards the elevator. Peter looked down at the body of his girlfriend, every fibre of his being praying to any god out there that this wasn't the time that he'd been dreading since he had first fallen for Y/N.
