Aubrey POV

I haven't seen Ian since he gave me a ride that day, and is it weird that I missed him? Yeah I barely know the guy and he lowkey scares me. But I like being around him.

Today is Saturday and Susan wants me to come in today at 2pm to help. It is weird and nerve racking to think I will be starting school on Monday. I am beyond terrified. I will have to make all new friends and the thought alone is terrifying. Shutting the thoughts out of my mind I took a big bite into the vegemite toast I made for myself.

You got this Aubrey. We are gonna make this school our bitch.

About 2 hours later of reading I decided I should probably start walking to the bookstore so I could get lunch beforehand. Pulling myself out of the couch I drag myself upstairs and get changed into a simple outfit and pull my hair into a ponytail.

Aubrey's fit

"Bye Mum, Bye Dad" I yell out as I close the front door and embark on my journey. Walking past the familiar houses whilst listening to my favourite playlist I can't help but recognise a certain bike in front of a rundown house. NO BLOODY WAY! That is Gray's bike. Holy shit. Holy shit. Crap?!

I hadn't realised I had completely stopped on the pavement and been staring at the bike and house when Ian's eyes suddenly locked with mine. I looked him up and down and saw him in the most impeccable black suit. The black button up shirt stretched across him defining every muscle with the top few buttons open revealing his chest. The black coat was tight around his biceps. Holy crap.

Noticing my staring he smirks and says "Like what you see huh angel?"

Closing my mouth and diverting my gaze to the ground I feel my cheeks heat. "Hi Ian" I say rather quietly.

"Hi Angel" I hear him say,  when I look up I see his towering frame above me and his piercing silver eyes looking into my brown ones.

"Um- you look nice?" I say almost like a question looking back down at the ground finding his and mine shoes much more interesting. As the alternate of looking into his eyes sends shudders down my spine.

He chuckles, leans down and says "Thank you, you look ravishing yourself" lifting my chin up slightly to look him in the eye. His eyes looking at me with what looks like adoration and I can't help but question his use of words. Ravishing. Is this guy serious, I didn't even try with my outfit and I completely forgot to put on mascara. Yet my cheeks betray me under his intense gaze and they heat to what I assume is a deep red, as my face feels like it is on fire.

"Where are you off to then?" he says, which makes me realise I never responded to his compliment, possibly my blush was enough. Omg I am so embarrassing.

Surprising myself I hold his gaze and say "Oh just making my way to the bookstore, my shift starts soon" with a smile. I tend to smile when I am uncomfortable and don't know what to do.

Instead of responding he grabs my hand and leads me into the front yard of the small rundown house which I assume is his. Completely stuck in the trance of his hand in mine I don't realise until his large hands wrap around my waist and lift me gently onto his bike that he is intending on giving me a ride.

"Oh no you don't have to! It's ok, I'm almost there anyway! You look like you are going somewhere as well. I really wouldn't want to-" before I can finish my rambling he sticks the helmet on my head and says.

"I'll drop you off on the way to my thing. No problem angel." He adjusts the straps on my helmet before then getting on the bike himself and revving the engine to a start.

"Thank you" I say just loud enough over the engine for him to hear me and then say what I heard as "Anything for you." Well I am pretty sure he said that, but the engine was so loud and the helmet muffled the sounds, why would he say something like that though? He barely knows me.

I really enjoyed the ride, the wind brushing past my face and the safety I felt with my hands wrapped securely around a very muscular torso. Before I know it we are right outside the bookstore. Ian gets off the bike and before I can jump off it myself he lifts me off and gently places me in front of him.

As I reach to take off the helmet he undoes the buckles and takes it off for me. Jesus does this guy think I am a baby or something. Smiling at him I say "Thank you silver."

"Uh- Of course" he says turning away slightly to take off his helmet, but I couldn't help but notice the slight blush on his cheeks mirroring mine as I realised my slip up. Shittt he is going to think I am weird calling him silver, it is just because of his eyes. He isn't teasing me, which honestly surprised me.

Desperately wanting to change the subject I blurt out "So did you like it?"

He turns to face me again with an amused smirk on his face "Like what baby?" My cheeks heat up again at the name and I say "Umm- the book the- Jane Eyre? It's ok if you haven't read it yet but-"

Cutting me off from my rambling and stuttering which seems to be a common occurrence in our conversations he says whilst tracing his fingers along my jaw and leaning down "Every atom of your flesh is as dear to me as my own"

Completely starstruck and confused it finally dawns on me he just quoted the book. Bloody hell I have blushed so much since meeting this guy I might as well identify as a tomato at this point. Having no idea what to say I nod and smile and before I can extend my awkward response he says whilst dropping his hand from my jaw and leaning up "Yes Angel, I enjoyed it."

"Oh I'm glad, it is one of my favourite books." I say beaming whilst he chuckles at my response and a genuine smile plasters his face.

"I have your copy at home, can I return it to you later?" he asks.

"Yeah of course, all good!" I say still with a smile on my face. He seems to be my only friend here so far, and better yet a friend who will enjoy reading with me. I love the ladies at the bookstore but this is a friend that is around my age. Well I assume. Actually I have no idea how old he is.

"What time do you get off?" he asks still staring intently into my eyes. This guy is very intense, yet he seems to have a bit of a jokey side especially when he teased me about the groceries and enjoyed pissing Susan off at the bookstore.

"At five thirty" I say to him, looking up into his eyes. God my neck hurts always having to look up like this.

He nods is head and leans back down to my level and says "Well how about I pick you up and we can swing by my house to pick up your book and then I can drop you home."

Oh nooo. I really want to. But being around Ian can be really difficult because he is so unpredictable, one minute teasing me, the next being rude and then calling my pet names and being, dare I say? Flirty.

"Oh I wouldn't want to-" cutting me off again he rolls his eyes and scoffs. He grabs my shoulders, reasserts his dominating stare and starts shaking me "Get it through your thick skull you idiot. I. Want. To."

Well shit. I was not expecting that, what did I just say? Unpredictable. Gulping I chuckle and say "Okie, thank you" smiling at the end.

He laughs and takes his hands off my shoulders and says "See you later angel"

"Good luck with your suit thing" I say

"My 'suit thing'?" he says using air quotations and laughing slightly.

"Yeah well you look all fancy, like you're going to something serious. So just wanted to say good luck" I respond getting embarrassed that I can be so dumb at talking to people sometimes.

"Are you saying I usually dress like a slob?" he says his face turning into a hard line.

OHHHH NOOOOO. I have offended him. Bloody hell. Shaking my head profusely I stutter "No.. ummm no way no it's just, that just um- suit." whilst motioning to his suit.

His face cracks into the biggest smile and he starts laughing, he moves closer and lifts me up into the air so my face is next to his and my feet are dangling. "You are so adorable" he mutters pressing a kiss to my nose.

What the actual? I am so confused. Excited. But mostly confused.

Almost as if he realised the amount of affection he showed he places me down and I know playful Ian is then locked away as a stern expression crosses his face.

"Five thirty" he says with a sharp nod and then gets onto his bike and without looking back drives away.

This guy is very confusing. Did he regret what he did? Oh probably. Great.

Walking into the nearest cafe I order myself a chocolate muffin and sit in the corner pondering all that has happened. I just love overthinking.
