"Where are we going?" Brett asks, his eyes fixed on the road as I drive, all of the windows rolled down in the gorgeous California heat.

"Somewhere special." I retort, turning right towards our hometown.

"The waterfall?" He breathes out, grinning.

"The waterfall." I confirm, shooting him a small smile.

"Amazing." He grins, "I hope you didn't bring a swimsuit." He smirks and I roll my eyes, shaking my head at him in amusement. Does this boy's head ever come out from the gutter?

"We aren't going there for that!"

"What are we going there for then?" He almost whines and I laugh.

"You'll see." I reply simply, descending into a comfortable silence as the radio continues to blare. Before long I pull over and park the car, jumping out and heading straight for the trunk.

"Let's go!" I exclaim, pulling out what I need as Brett raises an eyebrow at me.

"A shovel?"

"Don't ask, just follow!" I lecture before shooting him a grin and starting up the path, shovel tucked under my arm. Before long I am breathing heavily, slowing down and realizing just how unfit I've become, having used this pregnancy as an excuse to do absolutely nothing.

"Are you okay?" Brett asks from behind, his arm wrapping around my waist.

"Yeah." I reply, "Just a lot of extra weight to cart around." I smile up at him as he shakes his head.

"Come here." He quickly places his hands under my legs and lifts me up as I squeal, shovel still clutched in my hand.

"Brett!" I exclaim, "I am perfectly capable of walking up a hill!"

"I know, but I decided that you shouldn't have to." He retorts, continuing up the hill as he steps away from the path and through the trees towards our secret place.

"How are you today?" I ask him after a couple of minutes, absentmindedly looking up at his gorgeous face, his eyes on the terrain in front of us.

"Okay I think." Brett replies, glancing down, "I'm thankful that you're safe."

"You too." I reply in a small voice before leaning against his muscular chest and inhaling his comforting scent, allowing it to relax me.

"It hit me last night that our child won't have a Grandfather." He says after a moment of silence and I pull back slightly, looking up at his hurt expression.

"They don't need one." I reply, "We have your Mom and Alice, Becky and Ellis, Elle and Alex." I remind him with a smile, "Our baby won't even notice."

"It's just hard to think of what we'll tell them when they ask."

"One day at a time, right?" I reply as he steps into the clearing.

"One day at a time," Brett nods in agreement before carefully setting me down onto my feet as we both glance towards the serene waterfall. "Just as gorgeous as ever."

"The waterfall or me?"

"The waterfall." He smirks and I raise an eyebrow.

"Oh."

"You are more gorgeous than ever." He adds, smirking as he grabs hold my waist and pulls me against him.

"I'm a whale!" I whine, pouting.

"No you're not." Brett laughs, "Absolutely breathtaking." He grins, stepping back and scanning my body from head to toe, the look in his eyes sending a flutter of lust from my stomach to my core. Hell, how does he still have this power over me, even after all this time?

"Stop!" I exclaim, holding my hands out to get his attention, "Okay, over here!" I gesture, walking towards the left hand side of the clearing, my eyes zooming in on one particular tree. Stepping under it I quickly push the shovel into the ground in an attempt to start digging.

"What are you doing?"

"Shut up!"

"Stop!" Brett exclaims, his hands covering mine before wrenching the shovel from my hands, "Let me do it."

"I am perfectly capable..."

"Stop fighting me." He orders, a smirk on his face as I step back, "Alright." He starts to dig, far faster and more eloquently than I was, "How far am I digging?"

"Not too far." I shrug, watching as he goes to work, the sight absolutely breathtaking. Brett Winters undertaking manual labor, the muscles in his arms bulging at every step, I think may have drooled a little. "Ah ha! There it is!" I finally exclaim as I spot the light brown wicker.

"What the hell?" Brett exclaims, dropping the shovel and pulling the box out, "Did you bury this here?"

"I did." I confirm as he places it on the ground in between us.

"When?"

"Five years ago."

"Why?"

"Okay." I reply, sitting down onto my knees and grabbing hold of the clasp, flicking it open and lifting the lid of the box. Brett's eyes widen and I smile at the sight of the diaries, the deep green of his college jersey, the pile of pictures in the corner.

"What is this?" Brett asks, slouching down beside me.

"You were a dick in high school." I say and he smirks slightly, nodding his head in acceptance. "But I still fell for you harder than I ever knew was possible." I admit, "When you broke my heart I stuffed everything that reminded me of you in this box and took it out to leave for the garbage collectors but... I couldn't do it." I explain and he raises an eyebrow, "So I took the box, brought it all the way up here and buried it. Out of sight, out of mind."

"Whoa!" He breathes out, his eyes fixed on the piles of memorabilia.

"After we broke up at college I dug it back up and added to it." I snort at the ridiculousness of it, "Bit of a weird thing to do."

"Just a bit." He smirks and I giggle slightly.

"For some reason I couldn't destroy any of it." I shrug as he picks up the red book and opens it to a random page.

"July 2019. Brett Winters is the most arrogant asshole that I have ever come across in my entire life." He stops, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Yep." I nod in agreement.

"November 2019, Month three." He begins before glancing back at me, "Month three?"

"I... I started counting the number of months that you spoke to me." I admit, "Almost as a joke. I was imagining it wouldn't get passed five."

"Today Brett kidnapped me. You know what I mean, he threw me over his damn shoulder again like the cocky jerk that he is." Brett smirks as he reads, "He took me up to this secluded waterfall in the middle of nowhere. I had no idea that beauty like that exists in Edgewater and yet Brett Winters is the one who showed me it." He continues and I smile at the memory, "I don't know what is happening to me and why I feel butterflies every time I look at him. When I left I had to force myself not to look back at him, terrified that he'd be watching me." I reach into the box and grab a stack of photos, smiling at the two of us, "I was even more terrified of the idea he wasn't watching me leave." Brett finishes, looking up at me with slight awe in his eyes, "Sav..."

"Look..." I interrupt, pointing to a photo of us laughing, his arm around me, me wearing his college football jersey, "Remember this day?"

"We went to a house party after I won my first college football match." Brett remembers, smiling as he looks.

"I was so proud." I muse, turning to the next one. "Ah! Look!"

"The selfie we took at the Belmont Golden Charity Gala."

"My first ever Gala."

"Also the night I popped your cherry." He adds.

"Brett!" I reach over and slap him on the chest.

"It was the best sex of my life."

"What?"

"It was." He insists, "Well, at that time." He grins, "Now I'd probably choose last month in your apartment."

"I don't believe you." I scoff, "I was inexperienced."

"That means fuck all." Brett shakes his head at me, "It actually meant something with you. It always does. Sex with you is the most incredible feeling." He declares before turning his attention back to the box and rifling through, "What's this? The ticket stub from that Lord of the Rings film festival." He asks accusingly as he holds it up, "You were with Hayden then. You still kept it?"

"Yep. I was an awful girlfriend." I admit and he laughs.

"You were." He smirks before picking up the green book, my college diary, "What's this one?" He asks, flicking it open to a random page, "Kiss a person of your choice. That's what the dare on the card said. I had no other person in mind, no-one else ever dominates my mind quite like Brett does. He seemed surprised that my gaze landed on him although I'm not quite sure why, he must have known he was the strongest contender." He reads aloud, eyes wide. "Whoa."

"Alright!" I exclaim, reaching over to grab it, "That's enough!"

"No, come on!" He pulls it out of my reach, "Does this one say you love me?" He teases as he flicks through.

"Brett!"

"I love Brett. I haven't said it out loud, but I do. His Father puts so much pressure on him and last night I know that Brett felt like he had no other choice than to do what he did. But that's still no excuse." His voice gets quieter as he gets close to the end.

"Brett..."

"Can I ever look over what he did last night? Can I trust that he won't do it again? I don't know. It was a decision like Brett's that caused my parents to lose their lives, and that decision is surely unforgivable?" Brett's voice cracks slightly as he drops the book back into the box.

"There was more to the story. It wasn't something I even needed to forgive." I insist and he shoots me a small smile.

"It's okay." He replies and I nearly roll my eyes. It clearly isn't.

"Brett!" I exclaim, grabbing hold of his shoulders and pulling my leg over to straddle him, "These are the ramblings of a nineteen year old girl who didn't stop to hear you out."

"Sav! It's fine." He insists as I pick the diary back up.

"Look!" I point to the page that I've flicked to.

"What?"

"That entry was written in month twenty four." I smile, "We made it way passed month five." I giggle slightly, "And that is only because of you! I never wanted to give you a chance when we first met but ever since I've been drawn to you like a moth to a flame."

"Do you still write these diaries?" Brett asks and I shake my head.

"No. I stopped after we broke up at college."

"Not sure on the number of months anymore then." He smirks as he places his hands on my waist.

"Must be well into the thirties!" I giggle as he gently kisses my jawline.

"Thank you for showing me this Savannah." Brett smiles before planting his lips on mine and throwing us into a slow, passion filled kiss.

"It was time that I finally admitted how incredibly obsessed with you I am." I smirk as I pull away. Reaching behind me I grab onto my bag and pull a white envelope out, holding it between us.

"What's that?" Brett asks.

"The Doctor gave it to me at the hospital when I had my scan." I explain, "I didn't want to know unless you were there."

"Know what?"

"The gender."

"The gender is in that envelope?" Brett's eyes nearly bulge out of his head.

"Yep." I giggle at his reaction.

"Fucking hell!" He exclaims, hands gripping my thighs, "Do you want to open it?"

"I think so." I reply, "Do you?"

"Yeah." He nods before faltering, "Or..."

"Maybe not?" I ask, eyebrows furrowing as I look down at the envelope. I don't even know if I want to know, having been flip flopping between yes and no ever since I came home from the hospital.

"I don't know!" Brett admits and I chuckle.

"Me neither!"

"I... Should we let it be a surprise?" He asks, "So many things in life are guaranteed, but this is one of the only things that you have no control over."

"Yeah." I smile, reaching between us and ripping the envelope into small pieces, "Let's do that!" I grin before kissing him all over again, excitement building as he lay me down onto the ground beside the wicker box of memories.

*~*~*

"I've been meaning to talk to you about something." Brett announces on the way back, him insisting on driving home.

"You have?" I ask, lifting my head from his shoulder.

"I know that you don't know what you want to do, career wise." Brett says, "But the Clifton Corporation was your favorite job, correct?"

"Yes." I confirm, nodding. I loved the work at that place, the excitement of each new case never lost on me.

"Come and work for me." Brett offers before shooting me a grin, "With me."

"With you?" I echo, eyes widening as I sit up straight.

"I deal in the same business as Clifton and I can't think of anything better than having you by my side to help me."

"Are you serious?" I exclaim. Doing that sort of work all over again? And for Brett no less, one of the most respected men out there!

"I've never been more serious about anything." He replies, nodding as he turns back to the road.

"Brett!" I exclaim, "I... you're sure?"

"Positive." He replies, "My business is expanding faster than I can cope, I need a new right hand man." He smirks, glancing over at me, "Or woman."

"Yes!" I exclaim, "A hundred percent yes!" I clap my hands in excitement, "Thank you!"

"You're welcome." He smirks, "I can't wait to bend you over your desk..."

"Brett!" I cut him off with a slight squeal, "We have to be professional!"

"You're going to deny me office sex?"

"I..." I trail off. What's the point of lying? "No." I admit as he laughs.

*~*~*

Waking up the next morning I glance over at the billowing curtains and smile as I feel Brett's body against my back, his arm slung casually over me, resting on my thigh. Unable to control myself I push back against him, immediately feel his morning hardness against my ass.

He moans into my hair as I continue, clearly waking him as his breathing speeds up. His hand slowly moves from my thigh up to my breast, palming them through the thin satin nightgown, my nipples already hard from the idea of him. He grunts in appreciation, pushing himself against my ass as I let out a sigh, raising my leg and hooking it behind his to leave myself open.

He takes the hint and lowers his hand down over my bump, making me gasp when he runs his finger along my slit as wetness leaks for him, my body calling for him to pleasure me, to send me into ecstasy.

Pulling his finger away he rustles around behind me and just as I go to turn and ask what the fuck he's playing at he pushes himself between my legs making me gasp. Oh, he was removing his boxers...

Without a second to realize what's happening he pushes inside of me, grabbing onto my leg to spread me wider as he pumps into me from behind, both of us still laying in the same position we slept in, my face falling sideways into the pillow as I let out endless moans, him reaching around and cupping my breast, his kneading rougher than before.

We're both breathless as we repeatedly call out each other's names, him pushing in and out as I throw my head back against him, his lips descending on my neck.

With a cry of bliss I let go, contracting around him and exploding into heaven, him immediately following, spilling into me with a final grunt of my name.

After he pulls out I turn to face him with a smile, him immediately wrapping his arm around me and dragging me into him for a kiss.

"Good morning." He says huskily.

It sure is boyfriend.
