CHAPTER XVII
JAMES P.O.V.
Finally, I got a place where I could stay for a while. The place was locked when I was searching the spot to stay. I felt like a theft entering the house when I broke the lock with the help of rock.
The living room was covered in dust as I lit up the light of the house, it seems no one was living in the house for few months or year.
Nina was asleep on the couch, she still hasn't made clear about Charlotte, same as I haven't told her about her parents.
I was searching for food in the kitchen, which had few packets of cookies as I popped a cookie in my mouth, I threw it out as soon as I took a bite of it.
There was a TV in the room, which had only one cartoon channel playing on it, this place was really weird another haunted house, I thought for a second. But the only difference was that this time I was not scared to face the terror
Anne's p.o.v
I was eating my breakfast, Nanna had gone out to church and I was waiting for Derrick to join me and tell me about the thing he was speaking earlier.
"Anne, James Parker ran out from the hospital last night," Jane said, I could hear a lot of shuffling noises from the phone.
"You need to come over here," Jane said.
"Anne, you even listening?"
"Yeah, I'm on my way," I said getting up from the chair.
I left the house immediately. Though right now I was least interested in doing any work related to the Parrel house. But there was something which would always lead to change my decisions.
I parked my car when my phone rang, leading me to hear an angry derrick.
"I will be back at home," I replied cutting the call.
Once I enter the office hefty Keynes stood in front of me.
"You are no more needed in the office, Ms. Anne colt, you are fired," Mr. Keynes voice roared inside the office.
Everyone was looking at us, I was knowing the lack of completion this was meant to happen, but getting fired in front of everyone was a different story. The murmur in the room started.
"I... Please..." I was completely lost, no words were coming out.
"It's better you leave the office, Anne," hefty Keynes said going back to his cabin.
"Anne, are you okay?" Jane said making me not my head and leaving the Lakewood Local news building within minutes.
I started my car, I just drove and drive on the lonely roads of Lakewood, something was wrong, not with me but with this whole Calder and Rose burns mystery.
How hard I try but it was difficult to take out the Parrel house out of my mind, it was not a need or obsession over the house but the fear building deep inside me that it was going to follow me constantly.
I was driving my car just following every path, it was jet black outside when I stopped my car standing outside the house which was haunted or under paranormal.
I took the torch from the car when I was just going to enter the house. I heard Derrick calling me.
"Anne stop!" He said running towards me. When did he come? Was I so engrossed that I didn't even hear his car?
"What are you doing over here?" he asked me.
"I don't know... I just...," I was unable to explain myself.
"Why are you over here?" I asked him in my quizzical state.
"I wanted to tell you something," he said looking at the house.
"Is it related to the monsters inside the house or the girl Rose," I asked
"Anne does not take her name over here," he said the tension showing up through the forehead lines.
"If I keep saying her name, Is she going to appear over here?" I shouted due to the frustration of all the days when I couldn't sleep thinking about these place and the haunting spirit behind me.
"ROSE, ROSE BURNS," I was shouting saying her name on top of my lungs.
"Anne stop, Anne,"
"Why she is not coming when I want her to show up?"
"Is she scare now?"
Before I could say more and shout more I got hit on my head before I could handle myself from the sudden attack, I was been thrown away by sudden force leading me to directly fall on the ground.
"Anne" Derrick shouted when I got another hit the ground beneath me started to crack, the house was already in chaos by the windows closing and opening and lights flickering inside the house, I could hear yells and cries from inside the house.
Derrick pulled me up dragging me towards his car, pushing me inside, he started the car before he could speed up there she was standing in front of the car, her eyes white, scars on her forehead, broken arms with a blank face.
Derrick quickly reversed the car taking us out from the Parrel house, I tried to calm myself when we were back on the road.It was really dark outside and hard to see the road. I was scared my head giving a deep headache.
"What's wrong with you?" Derrick shouted at me but I stayed quiet this time it was my fault, I not only risked my life but Derrick's too, it was increasing my guilt if something would have happened to him... It was hard to imagine my life without him.
"I'm sorry," I apologized looking outside the car.
When Derrick told Nanna what I did, she was really mad at me for pulling such stupid stunt.
After a while when we all were sitting in living room, Derrick beside me and Nanne opposite to us.
"Anne, don't move," Nanna said her eyes going wide while she started chanting something.
"Anne, the shadows are following you,"
"It's too late for you to get out from these," Nanna said with a worried expression and tense tone.
"What do you mean to say?" Derrick asked.
"The shadows are behind you, following you trying to take over you,"
"They are getting stronger and someone needs to stop them," Nanna said shifting her glance behind me, were they standing behind me just thinking brought chills to my body.
"You need to face her Anne, there is no other way to get them away, you did a terrible mistake of going over there," listening to Nanna's was breaking my world.
"Get away from here," said Nanna.
"Stay away for few days, see what happens," she said starting her chants once again.
The lamp beside me started to flicker making Nanna stand.
"Take her out," she shouts at Derrick.
We were back on the roads, I was worried about Nanna.
"She is going to be fine," Derrick answering my unasked question.
