Author's Note: I spent most of yesterday resting my eyes and brain and stuff. My brain hardly rested though. I'm constantly under a flow of words, and sometimes melodies with lyrics, and they become a jumbled mess. But a friend of mine helped calm the storm and now I can write.

Let's get to it. Vote... Share... Comment... Enjoy.

Chapter Thirty: We're Family

I took Lindo's hand and led him into my room. I helped him sit down on my bed. He looked dead on the inside. I hurriedly shut the door and locked it. I went over to Lindo and helped him get his back propped up against my headboard. Afterwards, I took my purple throw, sat on his lap straddling him and covered the both of us with the throw.

I put my arms around his neck and pulled him close, his face resting on my bust area. He sighed a deep sigh, and then teardrops started to cover my shirt. I held onto him for dear life. This was an important moment. Him being willing to show his vulnerability and pain just showed me how much trust he put in me. My heart swelled with undeniable love for this man.

He looked up from my chest, and into my eyes. I put my hands on his cheeks, drying the tears. I laid a gentle kiss onto his lips and he smiled a portion of a fraction.

"I went to visit your attackers in prison", he began, his voice sounding detached. I nodded.

"I know", I told him. He rolled his eyes.

"I always forget that we're connected on a deeper level. I bet you know why I did it", he said. I nodded again.

"Yes, but I'd love to hear you say it yourself. I'm going to listen to everything you say to me without interrupting you", I said. He sighed and nodded.

"I went to see them because I've been really angry at myself about what happened to you, much like how Lorraine feels, but ten times worse. I've been angry at Dikeledi and Fikile. So I went to see them so I could find out if they were sorry about what they did to you", he told me.

"For the life of me, Ndo, I was hoping that they were remorseful so they could offer me the opportunity to forgive them and I could finally let go of the anger. I was hoping to reach into their humanity... And I didn't find it, Thando", he said. His voice shook.

"When I saw you lying on the floor, blood leaving your body, I was so, so terrified. And then again, when you started going limp in my arms, I was sure you're dying. I kept thinking "we're so young; we can't be separated now, we still have a long life to live together", he said. "And if they were sorry, maybe, just maybe my temper would subside. But they're not, Thando. I almost lost my best friend and wife and our baby to those inhumane animals", he said, his voice trembling.

"I'm sorry baby. I'm sorry you had to see that and experience that. But I'm here, see? I'm not dead, and our baby is healthy; we've checked. Nothing will separate us now. That was our hell-and-back. We can only go stronger from here. We're a family", I told him. I took his hands and placed them on my belly. "Me, you and Thandolwethu; the three of us, we're a family", I emphasized. He smiled widely.

"Yeah... We're a family... You're my family", he said quietly.

"Yeah... So shall we eat junk and get rid of that chapter of our lives?" I asked, and he kissed me. He rolled on top of me, and kissed me hard. I giggled and kissed him back.

"You know, you're the best, baby. I cannot imagine my life without you", he said after pulling away. I shook my head vehemently.

"No... No. It's the first I hear of this", I joked. He trailed kisses down my neck.

"Well, baby... You're the best. I cannot imagine what my miserable life would be without you", he murmured against my chest. He looked up at me and I smiled. "I love you so much", he whispered.

"I love you", I whispered back and pulled him to meet my face. "And I can't imagine my life without you", I said kissing his nose.

"You're the most beautiful person I know. This is insane", he said, kissing my neck again. "And you smell so good... The scent of you will always be significant to me", he whispered, inhaling my neck. I giggled and shimmied under him.

"You're so weird", I said. "You inhale my hair and skin. That's odd", I murmured. He gently bit my neck unexpectedly. I squealed. "Idiot!" I exclaimed.

"Don't call me weird. I'm just in love", he said, burying his face in between my breasts. "This is exactly what I needed", he mumbled on me.

"So all this junk and stuff is useless?" I asked. He nodded on my chest. "Well, I'm eating anyway... That's if Junior allows", I said opening a pack of Lindo's favourite Lays. Lindo turned his head towards the packet. I moved the packet around, making him smell it. "Baited?" I asked.

"Not even", he said. "But because you went through the effort, let's dig in. I know you want us to make hot chocolate, right?" he asked. I laughed and nodded. He got up from me, and pulled me up. "Let's go".

We quietly went downstairs, and into the kitchen. I switched on the kettle. Lindo picked me up and put me on the counter. He stood in between my legs. He kissed me and my head spun. I pulled away.

"You wanted us to be celibate, yet here you are coaxing me into wanting to beg you for the coitus. Thread carefully", I told him breathlessly. He smiled.

"What if I am doing it on purpose because I need the closeness of coitus?" he asked. I giggled and shook my head.

"Well, I will not deny you anything... EVER", I said. He chuckled.

"That's why you're my woman. Let's get this hot chocolate done and then I can have you on a silver platter", he joked. I laughed and pulled him closer. I planted a soft kiss on the spot right under his eye.

(The Next Morning)

I woke up to Lindo's unclad body pressed tightly against mine. Half his body was on top of half of mine, his head in the crook of my neck. His breath tickled me as he inhaled and exhaled. He slept soundly, but I wanted to get out of bed.

I started playing with my fingers on his body. I gently picked up his arm, and directed his hand close to my mouth. I took the bottle of Nutella. I gently dipped his fingers into the chocolate. I then sucked on them one by one. After I was done with the last one, he chuckled.

"You can start that process again", he said, his voice thick with sleep; it was the kind of deep that always made my insides turn to mush.

"So you were aware of my morning treat? Why didn't you say?" I asked. He laughed.

"I didn't want to disturb you. You sounded like you were having fun", he said, now smearing a trail of chocolate from my naval to the space between my boobs. He then proceeded to lick it off torturously slow and seductively.

"You're an idiot for doing that to me", I said quietly. He chuckled and planted gentle kisses all over my face.

"Payback is a female dog", he said.

"Let me go make you breakfast", I told him, trying to get up. He gently pushed me back down.

"What kind of breakfast is it that you need to get out of bed for? I thought I had everything I need to eat right here", he said looking at my unclad body. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Could you stop with your innuendos? Let's go", I said and he laughed.

"Party-pooper", he mumbled.

"Blah", I returned.

"Buzz kill", he continued.

"Is that all you got?" I pressed, as we got dressed.

"Killjoy", he said.

"And?" I asked.

"Uh..." he said. I laughed.

"You ran out of synonyms, huh?" I taunted. He picked me up and raced us out of my room.

"Well, good morning you two", I heard my mom say. I turned and Lindo placed me on the floor. We looked so sheepish that mom laughed. "Don't do that. You're married", she said and I wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole.

"That's what I've been trying to tell her", Lindo said, high-fiving my mom. "Good morning, mom", he said to her. I shook my head.

"Ew to the both of you", I said. "Have you started on breakfast?" I asked and she shook her head. I started by switching on the kettle. "Is dad here?" I asked and she shook her head again. "No words today?" I asked jokingly. She burst out laughing.

"I'm waiting for you to tell me that what you told me Lindo was going to go do yesterday is true", she said. I nodded. "You lie", she whisper-yelled.

"No lie, ma'am. He did exactly what I told you he'd do", I told her. She looked like she was ready for some gossip.

"Tell me more", she said.

"Alright, I think I don't need to be in here for this conversation", Lindo said. Mom looked at him like she was seeing him for the first time.

"I forgot you were here. You should stay; we're not gossiping", she said and I laughed shaking my head.

"I'll tell you later moms. Right now though, I'm making breakfast", I said. She nodded.

I got my ingredients together, and for a second, I had a craving for strawberries. I searched the fridge and found none.

"Mom, I need strawberries", I said. She frowned at me.

"What?" she asked.

"Thandolwethu wants strawberries", I said. I looked at Lindo. "See what your kid is doing to me?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. My mom grabbed her car keys.

"Let me go buy some", she said. I smiled gratefully.

"Thank you momma. Let me get some cash", I said getting ready to go to my room and she stopped me.

"Don't be silly", she said getting out of the kitchen.

"Thank you!" I shouted.

"You're welcome", she shouted back as she shut the door.

I made breakfast, and by the time I was done, mom arrived with the strawberries. She went overboard with the strawberries, ten packets extra to be exact. Apparently she was just making sure Thandolwethu would be satisfied. After breakfast, mom went to work in her office. Lindo and I went upstairs and cleaned my room.

After cleaning, we showered together. Luckily for Lindo, I had a couple of his clothes in my closet. We got dressed and then we chilled on my bed and watched movies. I still hadn't eaten my strawberries. As I bit into the first strawberry, Thandolwethu moved. I pulled my shirt up to reveal my stomach. Lindo gave me a weird look.

"What are you doing?" he asked. My gaze never left my belly. I finished the berry, and bit into the next. Lindo looked at my belly, and sprung up when he saw it moving. "Why didn't you say?" he asked. The tears escaped my eyes as he placed his hand on my belly. "Hi my boy", he said. I laughed through my tears.

"Our baby's alive", I whispered.

"Yeah, baby. He's alive and happy", he said. He climbed on top of me and started kissing me. When I was starting to get light-headed, he pulled away. He started kissing away my tears. "Thank you baby. Thank you for giving me this beautiful gift of a family", he said to me. I smiled brightly and nodded.

"I have you to thank for that as well, baby", I said.

"Yeah, but if you had aborted we wouldn't be here today. Your decision to keep the baby has made this a beautiful union. You've become my home", he said. I giggled. "Even if you almost died trying to protect our baby, and you have scars now on places you never thought you would have them", he continued.

"Don't think about that, baby. I love you and I love our baby", I said.

"I love you... Forever", he told me. He crashed his lips to mine again. Sweet delight.
