“Why are you always so clingy?” Chanyeol shouts, slamming the door closed.
Your fists curl. “I’m worried about you, Chanyeol! You go out and get yourself piss-drunk and come here looking like a train wreck. You smell like a strip club!”
“Strip clubs don’t even have smells!” He snaps.
You ignore his jab. “What happened to you? Where is the sweet, amazing, funny man I married? Why do you do this? Why are you becoming addicted to alcohol?”
“Maybe I go out and get drunk so I can relieve stress!” He says, his already flushed face reddening even more.
You soften your voice. An angry drunk is dangerous, even if he is your husband—even if your husband is Chanyeol. “What are you so stressed about? You know you can always talk to me. You don’t have to go—”
“What if you are the one making me stressed? Maybe I’m just annoyed at my nagging, clingy wife!” He shouts.
You flinch. Tears fill your eyes, and you grow quiet. Chanyeol swallows and closes his eyes, taking a deep breath. He opens them again, and his expression is heartbroken.
“All right,” you say softly, swallowing your tears. “I’m sorry for being a burden. I didn’t know I was causing you so much stress.”
He reaches for you. “_______, I didn’t mean—”
You cut him off by wandering into the kitchen. He follows you, still trying to say something that you don’t want to hear. Not now. Not after what he just said to you. You pour a glass of whiskey.
“Jagiya, you don’t drink,” he comments.
You turn around and glare up at him. “Here,” you snap, thrusting the glass into his hand. “Have one on me.”
Chanyeol sets the glass back down as you wander out of the room. “_______, I—” You march towards the door. Chanyeol grabs your hand, stopping you. “________.”
“Don’t chase me, Chanyeol,” you whisper softly. “If I hesitate now…I won’t be strong enough to go. I don’t want to stay and be a burden to you anymore.”
“Jagiya.” His voice is shaky, as if he’s about to cry.
You pull your hand away and turn around. The tears you had fought to keep from falling slowly slide down your face. You don’t raise your eyes to look at him. He stands in front of you, frozen. Neither of you knows what to do, so you don’t do anything.
Slowly, you pull your wedding ring off your finger and shed a tear. You take his large, warm hand in yours…and drop the ring into his palm.
“Goodbye, Chanyeol,” you say quietly, your voice barely above a whisper. You open the door and walk out.
“Jagiya!” He calls. “_______! ________!” His voice grows louder, and your vision blurs with tears. You look back regretfully and see him standing in the doorway. Your heart aches, but you quickly turn so he won’t see you cry more.
“________! _________!”
