I rose, pulling the soft blanket over the sleeping body of my little girl, Sara, my reason of living. I loved her more than any person in the world. I knew I was being a liar, a cheat, and a very selfish person but I could never share her with anyone. Never with Sebastian, who would just marry some girl and take away my child.
I didn't want to be alone again. Sara slept curled up on her side, one arm over her head, lashes fanning over her soft pink cheeks. She was six months and few days old but she was growing rapidly and with each passing day, she was beginning to see new things, meet new people and soon she will realise she didn't have a dad.
As I continued to watch her, she turned onto her back and frowned. Realising she was about to wake up, I took her in my arms and settled her face on the crook of my neck. She snuggled deeper and went to sleep again.
Hopefully, tomorrow everything will fall back to its place and Sebastian would finally go back to where he belongs.
But what if we cross paths again?
The thought frightened me.
I just have to stop that from happening. He will never know about Sara. He cannot know about Sara. I won't let him take more than what he already did. He took my pride, he cannot take my heart as well.

Next day ~
I and Sara were ready for work by eight in the morning. I was wearing my white dress and Sara wore her favourite, well my favourite, pink dress. I had to drop her at Raul's as John was not coming for work today.
Raul promised to bring her back in another four hours and promised to take good care of her. I wanted to finish the daily chores before driving to Douglas' hotel. I finished my work on time and drove to the hotel. It was ten in the morning but according to receptionist, Sebastian was still busy sleeping.
I didn't want to wait another day so I told it was urgent and she would get fired if I didn't get the work on time. She started to sweat on hearing the words and allowed me to go to his room. They gave me an alternative key and showed me to the room.
I opened the room and entered, my red heels making a tic-tic noise in the silence. The room was illuminated by a single LED rod and Sebastian was nowhere to be seen.
I yelled his name and he shouted, "Coming"
He came out of the bathroom dressed in a single towel around his hips. Without looking at me, he said, "I didn't call room-service."
"Its me. I have come to sign the papers"
He looked up and said, "The papers will take another hour"
"Fine, I will wait"
My mind kept asking him to put on some clothes because truth be told, he had the best body I had seen. I turned and walked to other side of the room to give him some privacy. He laughed, the sound making me want to hit him.
"You can turn" he said after a moment.
I turned and sat on the nearest sofa. I put both my hands on one knee and thought about what to say next.
Do I have to speak? I can keep quiet for another hour.
He couldn't.
"So how's life?"
I rolled my eyes and said, "Great"
"Who was that guy in your ranch last night?"
Narrowing my eyes, I said, "How's that your business?"
"Here we start. One conversation. I can't expect a single decent conversation from you"
"I didn't come here for small talk"
"Fine" he stood up and slid his hands in his pocket. He took out his cell phone and dialed a number, or I think he did. Then, he started speaking to the person on the other line.
"Kenny, where are the papers? ...okay. Yeah take your time. Uhuh..yeah about..." saying those words, he walked to the adjoining room.
I stood up and fished out my own phone to dial Raul's number. He picked up on the third ring.
"Hey Zella. What's up?"
"I think I will be a little late. Can you.."
"Don't worry about Sara. She is having fun. Mom's so happy to have her. Just tell me what should I give her for lunch?"
"I have packed the food in the bag. Just heat it a little..."
"Got it. You want to talk to her?" He asked.
"Yeah put her on the line" even though I could not see her, I knew she had her ear on the phone.
"Hey baby, how are you? Is Raul playing with you" she laughed in response.
"Oh he is, isn't he? Mommy is missing her Sara. Oh yeah she is. Sara missing me too?" She giggled making me laugh, " Love you kiddo..."
"Who are you talking to?" asked a calm voice from behind me. With my heart beat accelerating with each second, I removed the phone from my ear and put the phone back in my purse.
"It was my friend"
"Kiddo? You call your friend kiddo" I stomped my feet and said, "Just give me the papers"
He came in front of me and pulled me towards him, "I said it will take time. Now who is this kiddo?"
"It is none of your business" he kept frowning.
"Who was that baby?" He asked after a moment.
I lifted his hand from my shoulders and ran my fingers over my hair.
"What baby?"
"The one I assume your boyfriend was holding"
Too late, he already saw Sara and he is suspicious.
At that minute, nothing credible was coming to my mind. Nothing that could pass as truth. I couldn't use the "none of your business" line again, that would just make him even more suspicious. I couldn't lie anymore. I just have to divert his attention.
"John is my employee and too young to be my boyfriend"
"What about the baby? Who is she?" He asked.
"Do you want a divorce or not? One more question and I will just refuse to sign the papers"
His calm face turned into a serious one and he said, "I want a divorce"
"Good"
I should have known that by bringing up the divorce, I had increased his curiosity as well. I should have known that the truth could not be hidden forever.
Sebastian was procrastinating the divorce because he didn't want even one person unhappy with the marriage. Also, he knew that what he did with Jordan was terrible and something that would land him in hell. He wanted to do everything he could to help her but the girl was as cold as a iceberg. He knew she despised him but he also knew that she was hiding something.
What could that be? He often wondered.
His secret agents have started their search. Kenny had just called to inform him that she worked in a bar as a waitress and worked in the ranch with three men. However, Kenny didn't know anything about the girl he saw last night. The beautiful angel. He couldn't see her from that much distance but he couldn't miss her big curious eyes. She was as curious as him.
Who was she? Was she the baby of one of the men Jordan worked with?
He will find out soon..
