For those wondering why my book has updated again, I am currently editing and republishing them. If you remember my stories (which you probably wouldn't), there may be some obvious changes in a story you have previously read. After looking back at my writing style, it can be a little cringy... which is why I'm now taking the time to edit and make this book as enjoyable as possible!

"(y/l/n)-chan~ Where are youuu?"
You gasped quietly to yourself, clenching your small fists into tight balls. Any small sound could reveal your hiding spot and so you struggled to not make a sound.
"I'm gonna find you~"
That sweet, sickly voice haunted your ears. Here you were, hiding in a small crevice in the thick bushes behind the playground of the kindergarten. The voice belonged to one of the prettiest girls in your class, Arakida Nariko. Everyone saw her as a perfect child - kind, sweet and polite yet you knew that underneath the facade was a bully. Despite the many children in your class, she had purposely picked on you and only you. Whilst one bully couldn't harm a tough kid like you, Nariko had an army of minions that followed her actions and words.
"You better come out...NOW."
You shivered and your heart started pounding harder, echoing in your rib cage. Quietly, you placed a hand over your heart, hoping to soften its' frantic beating. Breathing in and out, you heard a sudden rustling of leaves next to you. As you held your breath in, you closed your eyes tightly in fear of what was to come.
A small hand emerged from the bushes behind you, grasping the leaves where you sat. The colour on your face drained, as you saw a shadow slowly coming towards you.
"W-who is it?" you stuttered, moving as far back as you could. Just as you were about to scream for help, out popped an orange mess of hair followed by a small boy. Noticing your mouth wide open, he quickly placed a slightly sweaty palm over your mouth, signalling you to not scream.
"SHHH! I'm trying to hide okay?"
You stared at the young boy in shock, blinking and not saying a word. His stature suggested that he was the same age as you, yet you had never seen him before. Was he a new boy? Unlike him, you had (h/c) (s/m/l) hair, (e/c) eyes, but you were similar in size, both being smaller than average.
"Hello? Are you okay?"
A curious voice interrupted your thoughts, and you realised he was still sitting in front of you. His hazel eyes almost sparkled from the light coming through the bushes. The more you stared, the redder he turned. He gave a small awkward cough, breaking you from your thoughts.
"I'm o-okay" you stuttered meekly, staring hard at the ground.
"Okay! That's good! I thought I hurt you. But why are you in my hiding spot?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to the left, eyes wide with curiosity.
"Your hiding spot? This is where I always come! I-I-I thought nobody ever came here...I'm s-sorry..." your voice wavered slightly in fear. You didn't want to make someone else angry.
"OH! Then maybe I should leave you then...since it is was your spot. " Hinata said, rubbing the nape of his neck with embarrassment.
"Wait! You can stay if you want..." you shouted a little too loud, with a bit of pink dusting your cheeks. "But that's only if you wanted to..."
"Really?? Thanks!" he replied with a toothy large smile.
"Ahh, I forgot! My name is Hinata Shōyō. Nice to meet you...?"
"(y/l/n) (y/n), but you can just call me (y/n)" you smiled gently.
For a moment you both went quiet, just staring into each others' eyes. Before a shrill voice interrupted the moment.
"(y/n)!" a voice practically screamed.
Worry flickered in your eyes, and your hands tightened up into fists again. You started to shiver slightly and your face paled.
"Are you okay (y/n)-chan?" questioned Hinata with a hint of worry in his voice.
"I-I'm o-o-okay..." you mumbled softly.
"AH HAH! I FOUND YOUU~!"
A hand came out from nowhere and pulled you up from the bushes. Before you had time to think, a large slap sound was heard from across the playground.
It was as if the whole world was silent for a moment. Confused, you reached up to the hand mark left on your cheek, and when you touched it, unbearable pain came through. You started to cry softly, tears streaming down your face, while everyone else laughed.
"Bwahahaha! Did you guys see that?"
"(y/l/n)-chan is such a baby! She's crying like a baby too!" they teased.
The laughter became louder and louder as you cried softly to yourself.
"OI! That was mean!" a voice cuts through the laughter.
For once someone had stood up for you.
"Oh. Look who we have here. A small little midget, just like - "
Before Arakida had time to finish, a fist came towards her face knocking her backwards, making her trip and fall onto her butt. Blood flowed from her now, awkwardly positioned nose, dripping onto her pink lolita-styled dress. A dark bruise could be seen, starting to get darker at her right eye. Everyone gasped in shock, unsure of what had just happened. Suddenly a high pitch scream could be heard.
"AHHHHHHHHHH," Arakida wailed.
You turned and looked towards Hinata, seeing that he too, was not sure of what came over him. His expression was a mix of confusion and worry. He stood there staring at a crying Arakida, before turning to look at your surprised face.
"Hinata-kun y-you..." you gasped.
"(y/n)-chan... I-I... didn't mean it! I swear!" he cried, tears about to fall.
Although you weren't exactly sure what to say you grabbed his hand, pulling him away from the crowd. Running with a trailing Hinata sure was hard. He was tripping and floundering around as you hurried to find an empty secluded place in the playground.
Before Hinata could say anything you interrupted, "Hinata-kun. It's okay... You stood up for me a-and I'm really grateful."
"But..."
Before he had a chance to finish, you quickly pecked his cheek. Once he realised what you had done, his face flared up into a dark shade of red. Starting from his ears to his cheeks until his whole face was so red, you almost thought he looked like a tomato.
You giggled softly, seeing how funny it was seeing him suddenly get flustered and nervous, tripping over his two feet as he tried to keep himself together.
"Hinata-kun...thank you so much.." you quietly whispered, and a ghost smile appeared for less than a second on your face. What you didn't realise, was the tiny little flutter of your heart speeding up ever so slightly as you looked back at Hinata tripping all over the place.
