Melanie was exhausted
She had had a nightmare
She woke up in her bed sweating and feeling sick
It was the middle of night
It went a second until she realized
She wasn't at home
She was in Tyler's bed
And she understood that it hadn't been a dream
All this was real
And Tyler had touched her
In places she couldn't even begin to understand
And it had hurt
He was laying next to her
He was sleeping ever so beautifully
He looked like an angel
So young and unbothered
His breathings were slow and collected
And Melanie decided that it was alright
He could touch her all he wanted
She had been high, she had been drunk
She probably wanted it anyways
After all, she was in love with him
Of course she wanted him to touch her
Even though she wished she had been sober
So she would've appreciated it more
But it didn't matter
It's not like this was the first and last time
And she should feel grateful
For that someone as smart and handsome as Tyler wanted her
She should feel loved
For that someone as perfect as Tyler wanted her
Melanie was all Tyler's now
She belonged to him
And she was totally fine with that

Tyler made sure Melanie came home without a scratch
He told her that he had a great time
And that he really loved Melanie
Before he dropped her off on her porch,
He kissed her goodbye
And handed her a bottle of something blue
He got closer to her
Whispering a secret
"Only use it in emergencies"
"What is it?"
"It's blue. Use it against Blurryface"
And so he winked
And smirked
And Melanie felt special
Tyler trusted her

Later that night, all Hell broke loose at home
Mommy was screaming slurry words at Daddy
Daddy was throwing stuff and breaking things
Edwin yelled at them to stop
And Melanie sat in her bed
She wanted to sleep
But her heart was beating too loudly of nervousness
She was scared
A voice in her head constantly repeated the word 'divorce' in her head
She couldn't live if her parents didn't live together
She needed them both in the same place
She wanted one house to live in
Not two
Soon the front door opened and shut closed, making Melanie jump
It went silent
But Melanie then heard cries
From her mother
Melanie was silent
Tip-toed down the stairs to the kitchen where Mommy and Edwin sat
Edwin was talking comfortingly
Mommy was still crying
"Mommy, why are you crying?"
Melanie asked
Mommy looked up, tried to smile
But the smile was broken, full of hopelessness
"It's okay, Melanie. It's all going to be just fine. Try to sleep. I will make you some hot milk"
And so she went up to cook
Melanie layed down in her bed some minutes later
The milk calmed her down
Mommy sat next to her
Singing a lullaby
She looked tired and scattered
Exhausted after an abusive fight
With an abusive man
Melanie felt sorry for her mother
She wondered why Mommy stayed with Daddy when he was so mean to her
But also knew that Mommy loved Daddy so much and couldn't leave him
And Melanie felt the same
Melanie hoped she would never fall into an abusive relationship
She hoped Tyler would want to stay with her forever
Protect her from abusers
Tyler and Melanie were perfect for each other
And Tyler would never abuse or use her
They would always love each other
And live happily ever after
Until death tore them apart
