"You gotta move." I put on an apron.
Auggie looked at me like I was crazy. He was in the kitchen cooking.
"I said you got to move. My lady hungry. Chop, chop." I clapped my hands indicating I needed him
To move so I could cook Morgan breakfast.
"I thought you didn't cook for women."
He said making scrambled eggs.
"I never said that." I got the bacon out the fridge.
"So now you got amnesia."
"When did I say I don't cook for women?" I got the bacon out.
"When O was cooking for Sata. You said we were soft because we cooked for our women."
"I never said that. Move."
"I'm not moving until I'm done. And you are so full of shit." Auggie shook his head.
"No that's you putting words in my mouth. Hurry up."
Auggie got out his cellphone and facetimed O.
"Hey bro. What's up?" O answered.
"Guess whose up cooking breakfast for a lady?" Auggie said.
"Not Mr. Mayo on bread?" He laughed.
"Yes. Mr. These women be on me like
Mayo on bread." Auggie turned the camera toward me.
"First off I never said I didn't cook for women. I said, ain't no woman gon hit me with a selfie stick, then Imma cook her breakfast."
"You see how his story changes?" Auggie looked into the camera.
"Shame." O laughed.
"How y'all doing man? You and Sata?" Auggie asked.
"we good. Trying to get her mentally ready for her surgery soon. Trying to get my building finished so I can get to work."
"Bro Imma need a job after graduation. Got a family now."
"Ra pregnant?" O asked.
"Yeah man." Auggie cheesy ass smiled. He was such a fucking cornball. Ra had his ass whipped from sea to shining sea. Ain't that what they say in the national anthem. 😂😂😂😂
"Wow. Congrats man. And you know I got you. I think it would be cool for us to do it together. Keep it in the fam."
"Fasho." Auggie said.
"Your mama know?" O asked.
"Nah. I ain't told nobody yet besides Cals and Miri. They was here when it happened so. But Imma tell her soon. I don't want her to show up at graduation and she find out."
"Well bro, Imma put you on my prayer list. You gon need it."
Auggie laughed. "Yeah do that."
"Well I'm supposed to meet Sata at court, let me go before I'm late."
"Aight."
"Tell Mr. Mayo I'm clowning his ass as soon as he touchdown in Georgia."
"He hear you." Auggie laughed.
"Aight." They hung up.
"you are such a corn ball. If Ra told you to jump, you'd ask how high."
"You damn right." Auggie said cutting off the stove.
"You weak. My lady don't run me. She know who in control."
"Miri." Morgan opened the door.
"Yes sweetheart?"
"I changed my mind about the bacon. Just waffles and grits. And add strawberries to the waffles please, light syrup."
"I got you. Imma put this bacon back." I got up to put the bacon back.
"Thanks babe." She closed the door.
Auggie laughed. "But you running shit? Okay."
"That's not running me. That's called respect for your lady."
He rolled his eyes, got his eggs and went into his room.
Callie came out her room fully dressed with her book bag.
"Hey don't walk out my door without telling me where you going?" I mimicked a dad.
"I'm not in the mood Miri." She sighed.
"What's wrong?" I said genuinely concerned.
"Nothing. I'm going to Noelles if you just have to know. Her roommates brother said he would help us with our math homework."
"You bet not be lying. Cause if I find out, I'm whooping the black off you. And you already light skin, so you need to try to keep what little black you got." I pointed the spatula at her.
"Goodbye Amiri." She rolled her eyes and walked out the door.
"And don't slam my door." I yelled how my mother would.
I finished making Morgan's breakfast and went in the room.
"Everything you asked for." I put the tray on her lap. "And I got you some orange juice so you can have your daily dose of vitamin C. You gotta be healthy for me and allat. I already put syrup on the waffles. Butter and pepper on the grits. Anything else?"
"No. This is perfect. Thanks Yung Buck." She smiled.
I laid in the bed next to her.
"I also got this for you." I handed her a packet.
She took it.
"Chef Touissant said they would love to have you. You just fill out the app."
"Miri I got a record. You know how hard it is to do stuff with that."
"He said he didn't care. As long as you was about changing your life."
"How am I gon pay?"
"Financial aid."
She looked at me trying to figure out more excuses.
"Why you don't want to go? Cause other people don't believe you can own a restaurant? Cause you afraid of the greatness and potential you really got? It's all in your mind baby, all in your mind."
She looked at me and sighed. "You right. As a man thinketh so is he."
"Yes Pastor Morgan." I said knowing it was a bible verse she quoted.
"I learned a little something." She laughed.
"You been reading that bible like an ol granny every night, I would hope so."
She hit me.
I laughed.
"You really are proving me wrong." She said.
"What you mean?" I asked.
"I just didn't think it was possible for a man to be this sweet. I never saw or experienced it so I didn't think it existed. But you proving me wrong."
"I'm just like this till I get the box." I shrugged.
She stale faced me. I laughed.
"Just for that you ain't getting no box."
"Noooo baby, I was playing. I'm dying laying next to you and not being able to make love to you."
"Do you even know how to make love?" She looked at me skeptical.
"What you mean do I know?" I said offended. "If I wasn't in school, I would be a porn star my wood game so good."
She laughed. "If you say so."
"I'm serious. I'm like a business baby, great customer service guaranteed." I gave a cheesy smile, rubbing my non-existent beard.
She shook her head and rolled her eyes, eating some food.
"Nah but forreal, I'm willing to wait as long as you want."
"I appreciate it Young Buck."
I looked at her eating silently for a minute then asked.
"What do you want from me, when we do eventually?"
"To feel like I'm at the center of your universe and not a cum dump. I'm done being that. I want to actually enjoy sex for once."
"You never enjoyed it?"
"No. Because it was never about me. It was always about him. I want to know what it feels like to be the center of attention. For every inch of my body to be paid attention to. Not just you do your business and roll over." She said eating.
"I promise Imma give that to you." I kissed her hand.

I was not looking forward to this study session.
