LYKA POV:
aayat has asked me to meet her today, so here i am waiting for her in a park. its been one week since she got married and this is the first time i am meeting her after her marriage. i missed her badly and i am here as soon as she called me as i wanted to see her soo bad.
during her haldi and mehndi, i didn't interact much. infact it was like i didn't exist there. i knew i could break down. she's the only one who knows how i feel even before i tell anything. and by the looks she was giving me i knew that she had understood what was going on in my mind.
i was pretty sure she will be here soo and give me a long lecture. but that is what is special about her. she does scold but with love. she knows how to heal me. she doesn't break me. i still remember the poem she'd written on me when were still studying together and i was feeling sad. she's just been there.
and apart from her there's this certain someone who's been there for me too..! just as i was thinking about him, a text popped up on my screen.
SATHYA:
wassupp!
LYKA:
don't try to be young. you're old enough to not use these teenage slangs.
SATHYA:
i thought you were sweet! ;-;
LYKA:
I AM SWEET THO!
SATHYA:
okay lady calm down! watcha doing?
LYKA:
meeting up with aayat!
god i missed her soo much!
SATHYA:
ofcc! i still remember how you bawled out
at her haldi! you looked cute tho!
LYKA:
you don't have to remind me that!
and yeah i look cute almost everyday!
SATHYA:
aren't you getting too bold these days?
LYKA:
i never told you i wasn't bold!
SATHYA:
damn just forget it!
send me the pics we took on wedding!
LYKA:
suree but later!! aayat might be here anytime now!
SATHYA:

LYKA:

i just smiled looking at my screen. me and sathya had gotten really close. that day during aayat's haldi, i still remember how he had managed to calm me down and make me feel relaxed.
flashback:
i am standing outside aayat's place. today is her haldi and i have no courage to enter the place. i've been standing here for almost 20 mins here but i couldn't even take a single step inside. i've lost many important people in my life, not aayat now. i know people might think this is absurd. but i am really scared of losing people. i was really tensed and tears already forming in my eyes.
just as i was about to back away and return back home i heard someone calling me.
i turned around to find sathya.
SATHYA:
lyka what's the problem?? you don't look good.
LYKA:
n-nothing. w-what are y-you doing here?
SATHYA:
i was here to deliver the mehndi from groom's side.
tell me what's going on? we're friends now remember?
i couldn't control and i buried my face in his chest while gripping on his shirt. he hugged me back and helped me calm down. i don't know how long i remained in the same posture but he was patient enough to not remind me. eventually as i calmed down, i let go of him and move away.
LYKA:
sorry, your shirt is spoilt.
SATHYA:
shirt is the last this i could think about lyka. tell me what's going on i am worried sick!
LYKA:
its just that.. i can't take this. she's.. she's getting married too soon and she'll get busy. i won't have her by my side as i did previously and i can't digest it. i know it may sound absurd but its the truth..! i can't.. i've lost many precious things in my life. not her.. i can't.. i can't lose her.
she's been there always. but that she's not going to be there anymore makes me want to crawl to a dark corner and never return.
SATHYA:
lyka, you need to calm down. it's not absurd..! i know how it feels. if it makes you feel better then i want to admit that even i've lost someone really important in my life and i know how it feels. i truly do. but what i need you to understand is that she's not leaving you. no she won't ever leave you. i promise she'll be there whenever you need her! just like she was there before. i agree she'll be there at a new place and new environment from now on but its her that matters. she'll be the same human she was and will love you the same way she used to do previously. but you need to be there for her now as she was there before. she's beginning a new life and you need to stand beside her. don't run away lyka. you're stronger than you think you are..!
his words always do some magic to calm me down immediately. I nodded at his words and smiled a bit.
SATHYA:
now that's like a good girl..! go on in and stand beside your best friend!
LYKA:
thank you soo much! i really needed this..! aren't you coming in?
SATHYA:
nah i just needed to deliver the mehndi..! now that it's done i shall take my leave. the groom's side need me.
i nodded and waved him a good bye and entered feeling much better than before.
flashback end.
i was just looking at my screen and smiling when someone jumped on me from the back.
AAYAT: yo girl who got you smiling like that??
LYKA: you did!
i said with a wide grin.
AAYAT: as much as i want to want believe it was me, do you think i am fool? i need all the details asap!
LYKA: it's nothing much. i just made a new friend.
i told her everything to which she squealed happily.
AAYAT: girlllll isn't he my husband's best friend?? do you want me to set you up?????
LYKA: no thanks. i am happy with my single life. you concentrate on your marriage. it's been one week that's it.
AAYAT: we'll speak about that later. i had come prepared with a lecture here so that you could really really understand that i am not leaving you but since a certain someone has done the job pretty well already, i think i can spare you.
LYKA: thank you so much for your mercy ma'am! now i demand to know the details from your side as well.
i saw her face suddenly turning dull. my heart clenched at that sight.
LYKA: aayat is everything alright? did he hurt you?
AAYAT: no! he didn't! infact he takes good care of me. he takes my responsibility too well.
she said with a long sigh.
LYKA: then what's the matter?
AAYAT: that's the whole matter. i am just his responsibility. nothing more nothing less.
LYKA: what do you mean?
i asked her being totally confused.
that is when she narrated the whole story. damn my girl has been going through so much? i swear i'll kill him!
LYKA: how dare he?!! how can he say that to you?? you're his wife! he should give you a chance atleast!
AAYAT: i know i know. calm down. he has his own reasons and i am more than ready to wait for him to open up. he takes care of me. makes sure i have everything i need. the only thing missing is love. and i'll make sure to make him fall in love with me.
LYKA: well you know, you shouldn't have to work so hard if you would've accepted any one of the guys from college.
AAYAT: hah! in your dreams. i didn't wait for soo long for nothing. i am sure i'll make him fall for me. no one can resist my charms.
LYKA: well true that! he can't resist your charms unless he's a gay!
AAYAT: lyka! i swear i am going to kill you..!
we had a playful banter and laughed out like hell pouring out all our emotions. time always goes too fast when i am with her. i finally felt relieved. i was finally convinced that no matter where aayat goes, this bond between us can't change. never.
we finally parted our ways with a tight hug.
time skip
later that night.
SATHYA:
so how did it go?
LYKA:
pretty well! we had sooooooo much fun!
SATHYA:
told ya! you were worried for nothing!
LYKA:
ok ok calm your nerves down.
SATHYA:
now can i have the pics please!
LYKA:
calm down old man. i am sending them.
SATHYA:
excuse me! i am not old fyi!
LYKA:
yeah sure..!
SATHYA:
just stop annoying me and send the pics!
LYKA:
aye aye captain!
SATHYA:
they're adorable
LYKA:
indeed they are.
after smiling at the pictures one last time, i dozed off and got lost into my dreamland.
