You were genuinely pouting in the backseat of the car next to Bucky. Steve was driving and Sam was next to him riding shotgun.
"So where are we going?" You finally broke the silence.
"Wakanda."
"Evaluate?" You rose your eyebrows.
Steve sighed "After what happened between me and Tony, not all of us left as enemies."
"Can you just speak properly? What is Wakanda? Who's there?"
"T'challa. Also known as Black Panther."
"And how did you two meet?"
"It's a very long story." Sam said.
"Does he like cats?"
Sam turned to Steve "I would've had an answer if someone didn't rudely interrupt me at that time."
"Sam."
"Wha-Man shows up dressed up like a cat and you don't wanna know more? Like what was the inspiration?"
Bucky chuckled next to you. "Well you dress up like a bird."
"Hey!" Sam turned around.
Bucky shrugged with a grin.
You buried your face in Bucky's shoulder hiding your snicker. Sam turned away with a pleased smile on his face. He saw how calm you were now compared to before. You were no longer worried that Bucky was going to be leaving. And it was entirely true. Of course a couple depressing and ice-cream-eating nights were ahead, but it wasn't anything that you couldn't handle.
Look at Steve, he waited ages. With ice and without. He still loved her when he met her, you knew that. Everyone did.
Bucky rested his cheek on your head laughing with you. Steve glanced at the two of you through the mirror, a small smile escaping his lips.
"Nice one." You whispered in Bucky's ear and sat back. He gave you an "I know" look and looked back at the road ahead.
"We're here." The sound of Sam's voice woke you up, followed by the sound of the door slamming shut. You sat up and rubbed your face.
"We're here doll." He rubbed your thigh.
You looked out the window confused.
"Is Wakanda in a forest?"
"Not exactly." He opened the car door.
"Let's go." He took your hand and pulled you after him. You let out a sleepy groan and stumbled out after him.
The sun blinded you. Literally.
"Where are we?" You looked around shading your eyes from the rays of painfully bright light. "Why is everything so empty." You stared at a field in front of you.
"Oh that's not just a field." Sam said.
Suddenly a very big chunk of the sky began glistening. Out of nothing a big space ship looking thing appeared. Your mouth dropped open. You felt Bucky squeeze your hand.
"That. Is. Awesome."
As much as you wanted to get onto it, Steve was against that. And so was Sam.
"What? No." You whined, still holding onto Bucky's hand.
"Y/N it's for the best." Sam said. "I have to get you out of here." Sam pointed to the car with his thumb.
"She can come if she wants too." A woman said. She had a spear in her hand and she was bald. You didn't know what amazed you more, the spaceship or the fierce warrior woman who was standing next to Steve.
You had just noticed her, you were busy with the spaceship earlier.
She was wearing clothes mostly made of red fabric, decorated with a flat necklace made of gold that glistened magically in the sunlight. The patterns on her clothes were fabulous, so modern yet so antiquated and cultural. She had an unusual tattoo on her head that made her look even more badass.
"See? Even the super cool lady said I can go." You turned to Sam.
"Y/N." Bucky whispered.
The super cool lady let out a laugh "My name is Okoye." She had a thick accent.
"Y/N, you should say goodbye." Sam sounded like he was apologizing. You swallowed hearing his words. Yeah everyone clearly chose to ignore what the super cool lady said.
"He's right Y/N, we'll give you a moment."
The three of them walked towards the space ship thing, leaving you and Bucky alone.
You turned to him with a sigh. "Goodbye is it?" You looked up at him. He shook his head. "Just a see you later."
His warm smile comforted you. He carefully took your other hand with his metal one.
"Thank you." He whispered, leaning slightly forward and pressing his forehead against yours. "Thank you for everything."
You closed your eyes. You could feel the tears prickling at your eyelids.
"I love you." You breathed.
"I l-" you cut him off by putting your hand on top of his mouth.
"No."
He looked at you confused.
"Say it to me when I see you again."
He knitted his eyebrows.
"Y/N." He said softly when you took your hand off his mouth.
You swallowed. A tear finally escaped your incredibly watery eyes.
Bucky wiped your cheek and planted a kiss on it. "I'll see you again." He smiled.
"Don't think you're getting rid of me just because your going to get frozen." You laughed through your tears.
"Oh I'm sure." He nodded smiling.
You wiped your eyes with the back of your hands. "God I hate this so much."
"I know, I know. I do too." He put his hand on your waist and pulled you in closer to. You wrapped your hands around him and hid your embarrassingly red face in his chest.
He drew small stars on your back while covering the top of your head with small kisses. After staying like this for a few minutes you finally let go.
"I swear to god if you're not into milfs we're done." You slipped in your last joke and pulled him into a kiss.
His eyes fluttered shut.
You could feel Bucky's hands swimming up to your waist. You memorized his smell, how he tasted, how his lips felt against yours, the mixture of emotions you felt while the two of you were together.
Bucky's head was all over the place. He tried his best to seem unbothered and totally calm about going back into cyro, but he knew that he was scared. Scared like a little boy. The thought of him waking up too late made his stomach turn.
He felt himself losing his grip. He really didn't feel like crying in front of you right now. It was hard to comfort someone about something that you yourself were terrified of.
You finally broke the kiss.
"You crying yet?" You looked at him.
"No." He squeaked. "Maybe. A bit."
You grinned pulling him into another tight hug.
"By the way, what's a milf?" He quizzed.
"You're too young to understand." You shrugged. He smiled wiping his eyes.
So much crying for one morning.
"Guess I should walk you over now?" You looked at the space ship with Steve waving at you.
"Yeah." He sighed. "Can't really run away can I?" He looked around.
"No Stark would probably get you."
"Fuck." He whispered, sort of joking and sort of not.
While the two of you walked, Bucky decided to speak up about a topic that he had mentioned earlier, that you didn't take seriously.
"Y/N." Bucky said.
"Yes Barnes?" You gave him a side look.
"When I'm back." He paused for a second.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to get married?"
You almost choked on your own saliva.
"What?"
He shrugged "I'm serious."
"Is this so I don't sleep with anyone while you're away? Trust me I-"
"No it's not that- hey how is that even an idea?" He turned to look at you.
"Well I don't know what one hundred year old people think." You shrug.
"No, no. I'm actually being serious."
You blinked.
"Is that a no?" He frowned.
You rolled your eyes "You know I'd say yes dumbass." You shoved him. "It's just that, right now isn't a good time to talk about it Buck." You rubbed the back of his hand with your thumb.
"Alright." He sighed.
"How about you ask me when you're back alright?"
He nodded.
"Hey." You shook his hand as a sign for him to look at you. "It's a yes. Just for the future yeah?"
He nodded again.
"I love you. You've no idea how much." You were slowly arriving over to Sam, Steve and Okoye.
"You're my everything Y/N." Bucky said.
"See you later, Barnes."
And with that him and Steve were off to Wakanada. Sorry, Wakanda.
You watched the space ship rise into the clouds and disappear into nothing.
As romantic and sad all of this was, you had other things to worry about at the moment. From what Sam had told you Tony wasn't your enemy here. The government was. All you had to do was to make sure they thought that you were on Starks side. Then you'd be safe.
Unfortunately Sam and Steve didn't have that option. All they could do was run from the government.
Sam drove you to the Avengers compound, but stopped at a distance so he wasn't spotted by the cameras.
"Thanks Sam." You got out of the car. "Wow it's huge." You blinked.
"Yeah pretty cool right?"
Sam helped you with your bags and walked you to the side gate.
"So this is good bye then?" Sam said sadly.
"No. Its see you later." You smiled.
"Cmere," he hugged you. "I love you so much kid."
"I love you too Sam."
"You'll always be my family. Always."
You kissed his cheek.
"You gonna kiss me back or what?" You cocked your head with a grin on your face.
He rolled his eyes secretly happy you asked.
"Here comes a dad kiss." He cupped your face and gave you purposely wet kiss on your forehead.
"Ew!" You giggled. "Gross."
He chuckled letting go of your face.
"You asked."
"Love you Sam." You began dialing Tony's number.
"I'll see ya soon than." He gave you small finger guns and began walking backwards.
"Tell Steve he's a dumbass and that I love him a little bit too." You waved.
"Bye Y/L/N!"
"Bye Wilson." You watched him jog away, disappearing behind trees.
"H-hello?" Tony's voice from the phone caught your attention.
"Tony!" You tried to sound excited.
"Y/N? Oh my Christ you're ok."
"Yeah for now. I'm standing in front of your east gate. Mind opening it?"
"Wha-You're here? You mental person." You heard him get up. "Look up."
You looked towards the building and saw a small figure waving from a big glass window.
"Let me in please!"
"Yes, yes. Just a second." He disappeared from the glass window and hung up the phone.
In no time the gate in front of you was sliding open.
Now is this the end you asked yourself.
Will you actually see Barnes ever again?
Or will he be back to find you no longer living. Long gone before he could tell you that he loved you?
No.
No absolutely not.
Thanks to a guy called Thanos you and Bucky will see each other.
But will that last long?
What will the sacrifices be?
Well that's something you were only going to find out in the future.
