Sydney's pregnancy was going smoothly. Tom was busy trying to take care of her. It was so humid, and she was moody a lot, so she tried not snap at him, but sometimes couldn't help it. Tom was being so sweet, waiting on her, going to several places if she had a craving, he was trying not to smother her, but he wanted to be with her at all times.
Tom had really been doing a lot of thinking, about the future, the life that he and Sydney were going to have, the life he wanted them to have, with the baby, and Abby.
Tom's mom came back to hold a shower for Sydney. The guys were all invited. She got so much stuff, Tom's mom bought a lot, so did the guys. They had dinner catered, and cake. The guys were in the kitchen talking, having a beer, while the ladies were in the living room. Tom joined Sydney when she opened gifts. Sydney said "you guys I can't believe how much stuff you guys got me. I love it all thank you all so much."
The guys went back in the kitchen. Doug said "So Hanson you ok." Tom said "um yeah yeah I'm fine." Harry said "nervous about the baby, or is it something else. You kind of look like your not paying a bit of attention to us." Booker said "I'm sure your mind is racing about the baby huh. I can't imagine." Tom said "yeah but I wasn't thinking well it involves the baby. I haven't discussed this with Sydney yet, I'm going to, but I've been doing a lot of thinking you know about the future. I don't think I want to stay on at Jump Street. "
Doug said "oh no you're going to leave to." Tom said "Doug look I love Jump Street, working with you guys, that place will always be special to me, but I'm going to be a dad, I worry about the same thing happening to me, like what happened to my dad. I want to be around for my baby, for Sydney. And I mean I just can't see myself dressing up pretending to be a teenager, pretending to be a McQuaid" Doug said "oh no I love being the McQuaid brother's." Tom said "yeah it was fun, but I think we're too old." Doug said "Too old. No don't say that." Tom said "Doug come on. We aren't teenagers any more. It's not just the cases, it's just the danger. I'm so relieved Sydney has given up being a police officer. I don't have to worry about well I will always worry, I mean you know how that guy came for Judy."
Harry said "So Hanson you want to leave Jump Street or the force entirely." He said "Leave I loved being a cop, but now I love being a husband, and being a dad. my heart isn't in it." Booker said "you have an idea what you are going to do?" Tom said "Well the other night at bowling, Sydney and Judy had went to the bathroom, Mr. Hooten, the owner of the bowling alley, he has known me since I moved to Dallas" Doug said "Well you're there at least once a week, all these years, so yeah." The guys laughed. Tom said "Well he's going to move to Florida, and he wants to find a good guy to sell the alley to, and he asked me if I'd maybe be open to that."
Doug said "Hanson owning a bowling alley." The guys laughed. Booker said "well I know you'd be great at it, I don't think I know any guy who loves to bowl more than you." Tom said "yeah I would love to do it, I just don't know what Syd is going to think about it. I haven't mentioned it to her yet. I was trying to think about it first, see if it's something I think I should do before I mention it."
Harry said "Hanson she's going to support you in anything you want to do." Tom said "I know she would, but I just I need be able to support her and the baby, and Abby. I mean I want to be able to work with her, every day, and this would work out perfect, plus I could be with the baby all the time. She and the baby could come to the alley with me, then I can go with her to the chapel for her time there." They said "Sounds like a good deal." Booker said "look Hanson I'll help I don't have much but I can make a loan if you need it." Harry and Doug said "Same here." Tom said "ok well can you guys not tell Sydney or Judy please. I'm going to talk to Sydney about it"
Booker and Judy came over for pizza, and Tom and Booker were going to put the baby's crib together, and the dresser and all the other stuff Sydney had got. Sydney and Judy were on the couch talking and looking at all the cute baby clothes.
Sydney said "I'm so excited for our doctor appointment tomorrow." Tom said "me too. I can't wait, we get to hear the baby's heart beat. and see picture of the baby." Judy said "oh I can't wait, you have to let me come over right when you get home so I can see a picture." Booker said "So they give you a picture huh." Sydney said "Yes I can't wait to see our baby." She took Tom's hand.
Tom and Sydney were in bed. Sydney had her head on his chest. Sydney said "Tommy." He said "you hungry for somewhere. I'll get dressed." She said "No I just wanted to tell you how much I love you, and I'm sorry, I know lately I've bit your head off, I don't mean to." Tom said "no it's ok. You're entitled. You're pregnant, and I know it's so hot, and humid baby. I wish I could do more to help you." Sydney said "Tommy you have been so sweet, getting me anything I want, whenever I want. I know it looks like I'm taking you for granted. But I'm not. I feel bad." Tom said "Baby don't feel bad. I can take it ok. I know your hormones are all over the place. It's fine."
Tom said "Baby I'm so excited to see our baby tomorrow." Sydney said "I know Tommy. I can't wait." Tom fixed breakfast for her. Tom said "So Syd I was wanting to run something by you, after we get home." Sydney said "ok is something wrong." Tom said "no not at all. It's just an idea I had. Actually something that I was talking to Mr. Hooten at the bowling alley the other night."
Sydney said "Babe you want to talk about it now." He said "no it can wait. You go get ready for your appointment and I will do the dishes and take Abby out." She said "ok." Sydney had laid out one of her favorite maternity shirts that she had got. She took a shower, then went to put on the shirt, but it didn't fit. It was already too small, and she had only had it for a couple weeks.
She was sitting on the bed, crying. Tom came in. He said "honey Abby is so." Tom saw she was crying. He went and knelt down by her. He said "honey" He hugged her. She was moody a lot so she would cry easy. Tom was rubbing her back.
Tom said "Baby what." She said "Tommy I wanted to wear my new shirt I got, the one I love the colors." Tom said "This one." She had it by her. She nodded. He said "ok." She said "it doesn't fit." She burst into tears. Tom said "oh baby I'm sorry." She said "I'm getting so big, I love our baby so much, but Tommy how can you stand it, I'm getting so huge, and it's still so early in the pregnancy, I'm going to be so so heavy." She cried on his shoulder. Tom said "Baby look it is good you're getting huge. It means the baby is healthy and you are. I would worry if you weren't gaining weight."
She said "But Tommy you're so hot and so sexy, and all the girls would want you, and when we go somewhere look at me. I look like a whale already." Tom said "hey you don't look like a whale. You are beautiful. you're actually glowing baby. I've never seen you look more beautiful. your eyes light up, it's like your whole face is lit up, and like dancing. I love you, I'm in love with all of you baby, and you're having our baby." Tom kissed her.
Tom took Sydney to her appointment. The doctor said "Big day today you guys ready to see and hear from your baby" Sydney said "yes we can't wait." Tom was holding Sydney's hand. Tom kissed her forehead. He said "Baby I can't believe we finally get to see our baby."
The doctor said "This will be cold so sorry about that." Sydney said "oh it is." Tom was holding her hand. Doctor said "ok first we will hear the heartbeat, then I'll see if I can get a good picture for you to meet your baby." She said "Did you guys decide if you want to know what you're having?"
Sydney looked at Tommy. She said "We have talked about it, but Tommy you decide." Tom said "Baby I told you it's fine. If you want it to be a surprise, then that's fine, or if you want to know now, it's fine too. You're the boss Officer Hanson." He kissed her hand. She said "um ok I think I want to know." Tom said "you sure." She nodded. He said "Good cause it's killing me. I want to know too." She laughed. So did he and the doctor.
The doctor was moving the stethoscope around. She wasn't getting a heart beat. Sydney said "oh Tommy something's wrong. Oh my God." Tom said "Sydney." The doctor said "Sydney nothing is wrong ok. Just give it a minute." Sydney said "why aren't we hearing the heart beat. It's all my fault. I hurt our baby Tommy when we went to Miami Beach. Why didn't I know, I am so stupid." Tom said "Baby please calm down. Don't get upset. Dr, is there a problem." She said "no it just sometimes takes a while in moving it around to be able to pick it up. Just give it a minute."
She found the heart beat. She said "ok I found it." Sydney cried. She said "you can hear our baby's heart. Is the baby ok." She said "yes. I'll let you listen." Tom was holding Sydney's hand. They heard the heart beat for the first time. They both started to cry. Sydney said "oh Tommy." Tom kissed her forehead. Tom said "Wow I knew this would be amazing to hear, but I had no idea." Sydney said "I know."
The doctor said "oh um wow" Tom and Sydney both looked at her. Tom said "Doctor is something wrong?" She said "no the baby's heart beat is strong and steady. It's just um well there is something I didn't know about until just now." Sydney said "oh my God what's wrong with our baby."
Tom said "Baby calm down, the doctor said the baby's fine right doctor." She said "yes it's not that. Your baby has a strong steady heartbeat. That's good. It's just uh Tom I think you might want to sit down for this news."
Tom said "What why." Sydney said "What's wrong doctor please tell us." Tom sat down. She said "Nothing is wrong, it's just I know you probably didn't hear it, but I just heard multiple heart beats beating at the same time."
Tom looked at the doctor, then at Sydney. he said "Sydney uh what's that mean." Sydney looked at the doctor. Sydney said "oh my God we're having twins." Tom said "twins as in two." Sydney looked at Tom. Then she looked at the doctor.
Tom said "Doctor so multiple heart beats you mean two babies." She said "um no. Not two. Um three." Tom looked at Sydney. They looked at the doctor. Tom said "Sydney did she say three as in three heart beats, three babies." Sydney said "I think that's what I heard. So we're having triplets."
The doctor said "yes I think so." Tom said "Three babies at once, I mean all in here." Tom touched Sydney's stomach. The doctor said "yes that's what triplets mean" Sydney said "oh my God." The doctor said "I'll give you a minute." She left the room.
Sydney burst out into tears. Sydney said "Tommy say something, does this change things I'm sorry." Tom said "Ok calm down. No it doesn't change anything. I'm just shocked I wasn't expecting that ok." Sydney said "I wasn't either Hanson, I didn't have sex by myself you know. This is your fault too. Don't be mad at me." Tom said "I'm not mad at you. I'm just speechless ok."
Tom said "Sydney I love you nothing will ever change that, and I love our 3 babies, I'm just a little stunned ok. I know you are too, but there's nothing to be upset about." Sydney said "oh that's a fine thing to say to me Tom Hanson. Easy for you to say. I'm the one that has to have three babies all at one time, oh my God. How am I going to get them all out of me, I'm going to be huge, I'll never lose my weight, how will I take care of them, diaper them, nurse them"
Tom said "Ok try and take a deep breath baby. It's going to be ok. I know you're the one who has to have them, and I'm sorry it's going to hurt, but I wish I could take all your pain. I'm going to be there to do whatever I can to try and make it easier on you. As far as taking care of them, I am going to be there for all of it. I need you to help me, show me how to change a diaper, how to feed the baby a bottle, give a bath, hold them. I'm sorry I haven't been around babies. So if you will show me, I will help you with it all. I will get up with them at night, so you can rest."
Sydney said "Tommy are you really ok with three babies." Tom said "yes I am. I'm just shocked. I know you are, we weren't expecting to hear that news." Sydney said "no I get it if you have to take some time to deal." Tom said "no I don't need time. I love you and I love our three babies." Sydney said "Oh my God Tom three babies." He smiled. He said "Three. Man I guess I'm pretty good at making babies with you." They laughed. He kissed her.
The doctor came back in. She said "so the shock hitting you and maybe panic and fear." They laughed. Tom said "doctor does this change Sydney's orders. I mean is there something else I need to be doing to take care of her, or." She said "well keep doing the great job that you are, but I am going to cut Sydney's hours at work, you can work from home maybe a couple days a week, and I want you to get more bed rest, drink more smoothies, and more water and fluids."
The doctor said "are you ready to get a picture of your 3 babies." Tom said "Three babies." He smiled. He said "you ready momma." She smiled and said "yes. So doctor wait. Tommy are you sure it's ok." He kissed her forehead. He said "yes baby it's fantastic. Don't worry about anything." She said "But Tommy we just got one bed, one dresser, one stroller, we need more, what are we going to do." Tom said "Sydney don't worry about it" Sydney said "But Tommy all that is expensive." He said "honey it's going to be ok."
The doctor said "ok let's see if we can get you some pictures of your babies." The first baby appeared, Tom said "oh so beautiful baby look how beautiful." Sydney cried so did Tom. Tom kissed her hand. The doctor said "ok this is baby number one. You want to see. what it is."
Tom and Sydney were going to have 2 girls and a boy. The doctor managed get pictures of all three. She left to give Sydney time to get dressed and to change her prescription. Tom knocked he said "Baby you dressed." She said "yes." She was holding pictures of the babies staring at them. Tom said "hey we make beautiful babies huh." She said "yes." She said "Tommy they are so beautiful. And we have both girls and a boy." Tom kissed her forehead. He said "Wow I know a grandma and an auntie that is going to be overjoyed." Sydney laughed.
Tom said "you still ok with having my mom I mean she wants to move to Dallas, so she can be near the baby well babies." Sydney said "yes Tom I would love it, and I'm going to need all her help and guidance. I don't know how I will take care of them, and be a good wife to you. I know you have." Tom said "Don't say it. Look honey all that matters is taking care of these three babies, and taking care of you. I will help all I can. So will mom and Judy. Don't worry about taking care of me or sex ok. You will be exhausted taking care of these three babies, and they need you ok. All I need from you is to know that you love me, and you want to be my wife. And to let me help you with the babies, you know let me at least get to hold them some." She laughed.
He said "you ready to go baby." She said "yes." Tom said "ok." Tom helped her out and in the car. Tom said "God baby I think I'm really going to have to be more careful, Drive slower." Sydney said "Tom please just try and go the speed limit." Tom said "ok let's go home." She said "Can't we go to the chapel. I need to tell Judy" Tom said "let's go home, you can call Judy or you can text her." She said "Tom I don't want to give the news over a call or text geez Hanson." Tom said "ok then we can have them come over tonight ok, and we can surprise them. Besides you know that she is on a case with Booker, so they might not even be at the chapel, and you'll hurt her feelings if you tell the guys and not her first."
Sydney said "ok Hanson, let's go home." Tom said "Will you take a nap the rest of the afternoon." She said "I guess I don't have a choice." Tom said "no you really don't." She laughed. She said "ok let's go tell your mom. He said "yes." They left and went home.
Tom got Sydney some food and milk. Sydney was on the couch with Abby. Tom's mom came home with groceries. Tom said "Hey mom." She said "hey guys I have been waiting and waiting I was going crazy so I decided go shopping. How was your appointment? Did you hear the baby's heart beat? Did you see a picture, did you decide to find out the sex? Sydney laughed.
Tom did too. Tom said "ok mom you need do me a favor." Sydney laughed. Sydney said "yeah mom you probably need to take a breath. Tom said "yeah exactly, sit down with Sydney and Abby, and I'll take groceries to kitchen. Sydney said "babe we'll wait for you ok before I show her our pictures."
Tom came back;. Tom said "ok mom, you should sit down." She did. Sydney said "Tommy you should tell her." She said "Is everything ok with the baby." Sydney said "yes. We heard strong heart beats." She said "thank God." Tom said "mom key word heart beats." Tom and Sydney laughed and looked at her. She said "ok so the baby is healthy."
Tom said "mom multiple heartbeats." She said "twins you're having twins." Sydney laughed. She said "see Tom your mom is smart unlike you, she knew what multiple meant." Tom laughed. He said "hey I was in shock ok. And no mom not two, three." She screamed
"Oh my God you're having triplets." Sydney said "yes I'm all over the place, I mean I'm happy, and then worried, and scared, I mean how will I be able to take care of them all, I don't want them feeling neglected or unloved." Tom said "Sydney it will be ok. We have lots of love to give, and mom and Judy and the guys."
Tom's mom hugged her. She said "honey don't worry about it. I can't even imagine how overwhelmed and in shock you must be, but if you will still let me move here with you I will love to help do whatever you need." She said "yes mom I really couldn't do this without you I don't think. I want to be a good mom." Tom said "you already are a good mom Sydney." Tom kissed her. Tom said "Sydney don't worry about anything ok." He said "I'll let you ladies talk, and I'll put the groceries up. Can I get you anything else baby?" Sydney said "more milk maybe." He said "ok."
Sydney said "I don't know I worry about Tommy being overwhelmed, he was shocked, I mean so was I. But I don't want him feeling trapped." She said "Honey that's impossible, he loves you so much. Don't worry about you and Tommy, you guys are solid, and don't worry about how it will be ok. You're not alone." Sydney hugged her. She said "we only got one of everything." She said "well I'll go out and get more. That won't be a problem."
Judy called. She said "hey Sydney so how was it, did you hear the heartbeat, did you see pictures, our we having a girl or a boy." Sydney said "Judy are you with Booker? She said "no we just got back to the chapel." Sydney said "do you think you could do me a favor, and come by, I need to show you the baby pics." She said "I'm on my way girl." Sydney laughed. She said "Hey Judy can you ask the guys if they will come over tonight, for like pizza." She said "Sure." The guys said they would be over after work.
Sydney was lying down in bed with Abby. The doorbell rang, It was Judy. Tom let her in, told her Sydney was in the bedroom resting. Judy said "oh ok well I guess I could come back tonight." Tom said "no Syd was wanting to talk to you, go on in, she's not asleep." She said "Tom is everything ok with the baby." Tom said "yes go on she has something she wants to show you."
Judy knocked and went in. Sydney said "Judy thanks for coming. I wanted Tom to take me to the chapel, but he insisted I come home and take a nap." She said "Well I wasn't even there so it's ok. So I'm dying to see."
Sydney said "Well Tom and I got quite a shock." She said "Is everything ok." Sydney said "yes we heard heartbeat and got pics." She said "Did you decide on knowing" Sydney said "yes." Judy said "So is it a girl or a boy" Tom had came in cause he wanted to see her reaction. Syd said "hey babe." He said "Syd I don't want to interrupt, but if you well I kind of." She said "it's ok, come here." Tom did. he sat down by her.
Judy said "you guys are killing me. I was so nervous and excited all day I drove Booker crazy." Tom said "Good it's good for him." She laughed. So did Sydney. Tom had Sydney's hand. Judy said "Girl or boy, please don't tell me you decided to wait on the sex." Tom said "no we know the sex." She said "ok good so what."
Sydney said "Well there is a girl, and " Tom said "Another girl, and" Sydney and Tom said "a boy." Judy said "Triplets oh my God you guys are having triplets." Sydney said "yes." Tom said "they are beautiful Jude. I'll get the pictures for you honey." He handed them to Sydney. Judy said "oh you guys they are beautiful." Tom said "They are aren't they. I mean I don't mean to be a bragging boastful dad, but hey I can't help it." Sydney and Judy and Tom laughed. Tom said "hey I'll leave you alone so you ladies can talk." Tom kissed her. Tom said "Sydney just remember it's going to be ok."
He left. Sydney said "Judy I'm freaking out big time. I mean I'm excited and happy, but 3 at once. I just worry I won't be able to take care of them all." She said "honey you have Tommy, he wants to be all in on this , you have his mom going to move here, and you have me. It will be ok. These three Hanson babies are going to be so loved."
The guys come over for pizza. Judy had went and picked up brownies and ice cream. Tom said "Thanks guys for dropping everything and coming over." Booker said "Sure big day today huh guys. Judy was going crazy waiting to see a picture of your baby." Doug said "you got pictures of the baby."
Sydney laughed. So did Tom. Judy said "they got pictures alright." She laughed too. Sydney said "Tom you tell them." Tom said "ok guys we found out what we are having." The guys said "yeah so can you please tell us." Tom said "girl, girl, boy." Booker said "3." Doug said "you're having 3 babies." Sydney said "yes." Harry said "Hanson you need to sit down man." Tom laughed. he said "I needed to trust me."
Tom said "I have to say that Syd and I made the 3 most beautiful babies I've ever seen. You want to see pictures." They showed them.
Sydney and Judy and Abby went in to the bedroom, so Sydney could lay down and rest Tommy's orders, and they could talk, and Judy could get more baby stuff ordered. Sydney had went out to tell Tommy that Judy managed to get two more cribs the same. The guys were in the kitchen, so she was headed in there, they didn't see her, but before she could say Tommy she heard the guys talking to Tom.
Doug said "So Hanson did you tell Sydney yet about your plans." Tom said "no I guess I'm just not going to be able to do it." Booker said "Why" Tom said "well with 1 baby yes, but 3" Booker said "Hanson are you at least going to run it by Syd." Tom said "no I don't want her worrying, she's already worried about three and how I will take it. I don't want her stressing. It's just not going to work out, it's ok." Harry said "Hanson I think you should at least talk to her about it."
Sydney went back into the bedroom. Judy said "did Booker say he can help Tom." Sydney started to cry. Judy said "honey what." She said "I didn't talk to Tom, I started in to the kitchen, and that's when I heard the guys talking. Tom has a secret, and he's not going to tell me" Judy hugged her. She said "honey what did he say."
Sydney said "Judy he said he is not going to be able to do it now, because of 3 babies, with one he could do it, but with 3 he can't, and they said is he even going to tell me, and he said no I don't need to know cause I'd just worry about it." She burst out in tears. She said "honey look it doesn't mean it is anything bad."
Sydney said "Judy what if I mean he was in shock and he didn't say anything when she said 3 babies, but he said it was ok, he was ok and excited, but now if it's costing him something, what if he resents me or the babies." She said "honey I don't think that could ever happen. He adores you." She said "What if he feels trapped now." She said "honey look you can't do this to yourself. You need to talk to your husband." Sydney said "I can't." Judy said "you're going to have to. you're obviously upset and it's not good for you or your babies to be stressed and upset, and Tom's going to know you're upset. I'll go get him and you talk to him." Sydney said "What do I say." Judy said "honey Tom loves you, he adores you, just tell him you overheard him, and you need to know what he was talking about."
Sydney said "ok." Judy said "Abby let's get Booker to take us for a walk." Abby left with Judy. Judy said "Hey Booker will you go with me to walk Abby." He said "Sure." Judy said "Tom um your wife needs to see you." He said " she ok." Judy said "Yeah she just needs to talk a minute."
Tom said "ok" Tom came in. He said "hey baby I brought you a smoothie I made for you." She said "thanks you're so sweet." She burst out into tears. Tom was used to her crying, he held her. he said "Baby I love you." She said "I love you too Tommy."
Tom said "Judy said you needed to talk" Sydney nodded. Tom said "ok. honey." She didn't say anything. Tom said "Syd you feeling ok." She nodded. Tom said "Baby whatever it is just tell me, or ask me."
She said "ok well Judy managed to get a hold of the baby store where she and Booker got our crib, and she is getting 2 more, so maybe Booker can help you again." Tom said "Sure Sounds good." Tom said "Syd why are you upset. I can see something is wrong."
Sydney cried. Tom said "Baby don't worry about taking care of them. I'll help you so will mom, Judy." She said "I know. It's not that I mean yeah I'm worried about it, but that's not what's wrong."
Tom said "ok tell me. Cause stress and you being upset is not good for your health or the babies." Sydney said "Tommy I was coming out to tell you Judy got the cribs, and you were in the kitchen, and before I could let you know I was there, I " She stopped.
Tom said "you overheard me and the guys huh." She burst out into tears. Tom said "Baby don't cry. It's nothing to be upset about." She said "yes it is. I know you said the other day you wanted talk about something and I fell asleep, then you said this morning , so is that what you wanted now you can't do because of the 3 babies."
Tom nodded. he said "ok look baby it's nothing for you to get upset about. I'm happy about the 3 babies ok. It's fine." Sydney said "Tommy what is it. Please tell me." Tom said "ok look I've been doing a lot of thinking the last couple months. Especially when you're in my arms sleeping, and I'm watching you sleep. Thinking about our future, the future I want for you, for our family."
Sydney said "And 3 is too much." Tom said "no not at all baby." Tom kissed her forehead. Tom said "Syd it's just you know you've talked a lot about history repeating itself, I mean even before we knew about the babies," Sydney said "you think I'm going to be a bad mom cause my mom." Tom said "hell no. You're nothing like your mom. You're already the best mom. To Abby, to our babies." Tom said "Sydney I'm talking about me, about my history."
She said "I don't follow." Tom said "my dad Syd. He was a great dad." Sydney said "yes he was." Tom said "he always made me feel like I was special, he always had time for me, I mean fishing, working on cars, bowling, going for a drive, if I needed help with school work, or problems. I could always go ride with him, or go talk to him at the station about anything."
Sydney nodded. Tom said "Syd I'm scared. I don't want to repeat what happened to my dad. I love being a cop, I wanted to be a good cop, follow in his footsteps, but baby I don't want that anymore. I worry, I mean I'm so grateful and thankful that you aren't going to be a cop on the street on cases any more. I know a sacrifice that you gave up, but I'm so relieved. But being a cop is dangerous, and I'm scared baby, I don't want to be on a case, and end up shot like my dad, and leave you and the babies. I don't want to leave my babies without a dad like my dad did or leave you without a husband."
Sydney burst out into tears. Tom hugged her. She said "Tommy I worry about that too" Tom said "You do." She said "yes and to be honest with you, so does your mom. She and I have talked about it. She tried to reassure me that you weren't in as dangerous a unit as your dad." Tom said "Syd why didn't you come to me tell me." She said "Babe I couldn't I didn't want to upset you, make you worry about me, make you think you needed quit being a cop. I know you love it and why."
Tom said "it's just I don't love it any more, and I really am not going to like it if you're not out being my partner, I've actually been dreading it, when school starts back up, and I get a case, and I have to leave you. I don't want to miss one minute of this pregnancy, and when the babies are born, I don't want to miss one minute of their life, I mean even the dirty diapers, the crying in the middle of night." Sydney said "um 3 babies I'm pretty sure it may be screaming babe." Tom said "I can't wait." They laughed.
Sydney said "So Tommy I knew even Fuller knows you haven't been happy with Jump Street cases for awhile. He even mentioned it to me." Tom said "really." Sydney said "yeah I mean I know that part of you feels like you should be out doing something more as a cop, like your dad did, and I know you feel like we set these kids up, befriend them, then arrest them, and I know the places they get sent to are horrible, and you struggle with that."
Tom said "yeah I have and actually the only reason I have stayed is cause of you, cause I want to be your partner." Sydney said "I know." he said "you love Jump Street. I mean I love the place, the people." She laughed. She said "oh how sweet I'm going to cry, you love Booker." He laughed. He said "hey I didn't say that." They laughed.
Sydney said "So Tommy you want to quit being a cop all together, or did you like want to like be an office cop, or" Tom said "actually I want to quit the force all together, and I had a plan, I mean I had been thinking about this you know leaving, but I knew I couldn't just leave without a job in place, so I can provide for you and the baby and Abby, well babies now."
Sydney said "ok so do you have an idea what you would like to do. Tommy I'm down for whatever. It doesn't have to change just cause we are having 3 babies. And I'll still have hours and I can work from home so."
Tom said "Sydney look I don't know. I want to leave. But I need to do what's best for you, and our babies. Supporting you. So losing my salary it's going to have to be something I can count on working out, and not something I would have to take a loan out, or borrow money. I mean the guys said they would lend me and I know mom would. But still it has to be certain it would work."
Sydney said "babe what is it. Tell me." He said "ok look I meant to tell you earlier the other day after bowling. I told you in car but you didn't say anything I looked over and you were sound asleep." She said "I know I'm sorry babe." he said "So when you and Judy were in the bathroom," Sydney said "one of my many bathroom trips." He laughed. So did she.
He said "Mr. Hooten came up to me. We were talking about how soon I'd have a little Hanson around growing up watching me bowl, and it made me think of how I watched my dad. Anyway he said he wanted to discuss an idea he had, he didn't think I would be leaving police force, but he's moving with his wife to Florida. Her MS is bad, and he wants to retire spend more time taking care of her, and their kids are in Orlando, so he wants be close to grandkids for his wife."
Sydney said "oh." Tom said "so he is putting his bowling alley up for sale, he doesn't need the money, but he won't be coming back, and so he said he thought of me, he wanted to leave the bowling alley with someone who he knew loved bowling as much as he did, someone who grew up at the alley watching his dad like he did." Sydney said "He wants you to be the bowling alley owner."
Tom said "yeah I mean crazy huh." She said "no not at all. You love bowling, it means something to you, cause of memories with your dad, the bowling trips you and your dad went on, all the time spent at the alley." Tom nodded.
Tom said "So I told him I was honored that he thought of me, that I had actually been thinking about the future a lot now with the baby on the way, and how I wanted to leave the force. He said he didn't need the money, that we could work out a deal, where I could make payments, but he thought the bowling alley would be in good hands. He has owned it for 40 years, his dad owned it before him, he wants to make sure the new owner won't ruin it, close it, tear it down. He also thought with times changing, a younger owner may have new fresh ideas, to bring in new business."
Tom said "So I told him I'd talk to you, and you'd have to be on board, but I mean baby I was thinking about it, it'd be perfect. I mean baby if we did this, it wouldn't just be me owning it, it'd be us, something we could do together, and something we could share with our babies, something we could leave them. There's an office, you the babies, and Abby could come with me, and I mean the bowling alley does good, I would keep the same staff. Roger the day mgr and Jay the night mgr, Mr. Hooten only goes in what twice a week. And I can still whenever days you go to Jump Street to do your thing I could go with you. But I don't know I mean with 3 babies, I have to provide for you and the babies and Abby I have to give you the best life. I mean he doesn't need the money and he would take payments, and I could like maybe fix cars on the side, to make extra money, but baby whatever we do we have to do together.
Tom said "Sydney you aren't just my wife, just my lover, you're my best friend, my confidant, my partner, I want to be with you all the time, share everything. I don't want to be like a normal couple where we get up in morning eat breakfast, kiss goodbye, say have a good day, then at night eat , play with the kids, Abby, then go to bed, and maybe have sex." She laughed. He did too. He said "if we did this, we could work together, bring the babies, you could maybe get where you trust me with them, and leave and go with Judy on a girl date to the mall." She laughed.
Sydney said "Babe I think you should do it." Tom said "you do." She said "yes." he said "don't you want to think on it, or talk about it." Sydney said "No Tommy. First off I don't know any man who loves bowling like you do. I know what it means to you, with your dad the memories, the time spent. You'd be the perfect owner. And to be honest I'd be thrilled you'd be out of the police force. I mean you are my favorite cop, but I worry about you. I have tried to push that fear of what happened to your dad, happening to you, way down deep far away out of my mind, but it's there. So this would be wonderful, and we could be together, with Abby, and with our babies. I say do it." Tom said "So I'm your favorite cop huh." They laughed. He said "you're mine."
Tom hugged her. he said "Are you sure." She said "yes Tommy." Tom said "well if we do this, will you help me. I mean baby I value your opinion over anyone else. And I know you're a genius, and I know you could come up with some new fresh ideas to bring in more business." Sydney said "Tommy I will start thinking ok. But yes call Mr. Hooten." Tom said "you sure." She said "yes." Tom did. He said for them to come over for dinner the next night to discuss contract and terms.
Tom said "Sydney you really are ok with this." She said "yes babe." She kissed him. She said "Tommy I have an idea how we can get the money." He said "how." She said "let me sell my Corvette." Tom said "no baby." She said "Tom we're having 3 babies, I'm going to need an suv, I can't drive them in a corvette." He said "I know that, but we'll get your suv but baby I want you to keep that car. I know how much it means to you. It was something you achieved, you overcame your past, you got your job, bought that car. Baby please don't sell it, plus your hubby really loves to drive that sweet ride." She laughed. She said "I didn't notice that." They laughed.
Tom said "Sydney please I don't want to do the bowling alley if you are going to sell your car. The guys said they could help lend me some, and I mean really I am good at fixing cars, I mean I usually don't charge, but I could start. Plus my mom I could ask her." Tom said "So baby you really sure about this."
She said "I don't know Hanson." He said "ok I'll call and tell" She said "Hanson I was thinking I guess it depends on if you answer my two questions right." He said "ok go on." She said "ok number one in that office, you said there's a couch." He said "yeah I didn't know that till he had me go in there to ask me about it." She laughed. She said "yeah I know I saw you in there, so you think that I could do some redecorating." He smiled. He said "The office sure." She laughed. She said "uh the couch can stay, but I'm needing some privacy, I mean I was hoping you could like put curtains on the windows so it's not open. I don't want people seeing me having sex with my hot bowling crush." He smiled.
He said "hey so you have a hot bowling crush." She said "yes." he said "so you never mentioned him to me, how is that." She said "I didn't, I thought I told you about him." He laughed. She did too. She said "ok and second can I be in charge of making sure all the women employees are like way old, and maybe grandmas and married." He laughed. He said "yes I will put you in charge of all hiring, and the new fresh ideas for our bowling alley, deal Mrs. Hanson."
She said "Deal." He said "can we shake on it." She said "no I have a better idea, how bout we kiss on it." He kissed her.
