George's eyes slowly opened to the sight of Clay's face, he was shaking him awake.

"Hey," he whispered, attempting to not startle George, "it's almost two in the afternoon, wake up!"

George rubbed his eyes as he rose from his sleeping position, "Morning," he muttered,

"Good afternoon," Sapnap called from across the room, to which Karl and Clay giggled,

"Oh fuck off,"

"Why were you up so late anyway?" Karl questioned,

"How do you know if I was even up late," George snapped sarcastically, "maybe I just like to sleep."

"I know for a fact that's not the reason you're just now waking up, but the reason for your late awaking is staying up late."

George wasn't in the mood to argue, so he excepted defeat, "Yeah whatever, I stayed up, so what!"

"What we're you doing awake?" Sapnap raised an eyebrow,

"I just couldn't sleep, should I have wakened you from your bear slumber?"

Sapnap believed him, "No, and if you do you won't be able to have another slumber." Everyone in the room laughed,

"Yeah yeah, whatever." He finally got up from bed, swinging his legs across the bed to dangle off. As he got up to stretch he realized Clay glancing at him,

"Hello?" He waved a hand in front of Clay,

"Hm?" Clay replied startled,

"Why are you staring?" George laughed,

"Because he likes you, obviously!" Sapnap called once again from across the room, "You're so blinded."

George replied without thinking again, "No we're just friends!" He immediately regretted it after.

'just friends' Clay repeated in his head. He never wanted to admit his feelings for George, but he knew he liked him.

Everyone in the room fell silent, Karl and Sapnap saw right through Clay, but they refrained from saying anything.

"Why'd we all go silent?" George tried to act clueless,

"Not sure." Karl finally spoke. George just shrugged it off and went back onto his phone. As he sat in silence he remembered last night. His mood immediately changed, his social battery had run out. He still felt disgusting, but he wasn't gonna bring it up, afraid it would ruin everyone else time.

Instead, he texted his best friends back home in an attempt to forget about it. It was around two in the afternoon in NH already meaning they'd probably be having dinner by now.

He texted the group chat,

'hey I'm sorry I haven't had the time to text u guys):' He typed before turning off his phone. He would soon get his phone taken away once again so he would dedicate today to trying to message them as much as he could.

The phone soon enough shook, Niki had texted back. He opened up the group chat,

'OMG HI GEORGEE!! how's the good old us?? also no need to apologize <33 we miss you):' His lips formed into a soft smile, Clay seemed to notice and asked,

"Why are you smiling so much?"

"What, am I not allowed to smile."

"No, you're only allowed to smile with me." Clay teased,

George couldn't help but feel a little flustered, "Oh whatever." He went back to replying to Niki,

'HII NIKI! and they're weird here, I miss you guys too!' he clicked send as Jack finally slid into the group chat,

'oh look who it is, the old gogster!'

They all kept texting throughout the day, Tommy and Wilbur eventually sliding in as well.

-
They decided they need to go to bed later on in the day and George finally put down his phone. Clay couldn't help but feel a little jealous. Even if he hadn't had an idea who he was talking to, he seemed so happy. But hopefully, he was just getting the wrong idea from it.

"The lady is gonna come around after dinner and take your phone." Clay reminded, to which George replied with a groan.

"Wanna know how to keep it?" Clay raised an eyebrow,

"Yeah, of course, I do!"

"Just switch it out with an old phone, doubt she'll notice anyway." He went into his drawers to find an old mobile that didn't work, and handed it to George,

"Do you just keep those around?" He chuckled,

"Never know, I just saved your ass."

George rolled his eyes in response and looked around the room. He was bored again, but he was too scared to go anywhere public. He didn't wanna risk it. If he'd go anywhere, it'd be out in the field again with Clay.

"Clay," Clay hummed, "can we go out?" Clays eyes widened,

"No." He replied simply, he seemed disappointed in himself,

"It won't be a public area, just the field in front of the school." George tried his hardest to convince Clay, it's nothing like George would risk going out into public again.

Clay thought about it, "George," he finally picked up his eyes from the floor, "I still feel guilty, I don't want to risk it."

George sighed, "Please, Clay it wasn't your fault-"

Clay interrupted, "It's not your fault either," he reassured, "you don't think that right?"

"Of course not." Lies, being a good liar came in hand from time to time, "As I was saying, I promise we'll stay near the school!"

"George, I don't know." He was more than scared for the boy, he already felt guilty enough,

"Please, we can do whatever you want!" George just dreaded being inside, or maybe he just wanted to spend one on one time with Clay, he wasn't sure.

"Whatever I want?" He asked again to make sure,

A smirk grew on George's face, "Whatever you want!" George was secretly hoping it would be a heated make out session, but he pushed that thought away.

"Okay, Curfew is it at a quarter past nine, grab the book that I gave you." A small smile tugged on his face until he turned around to put on his shoes, George doing the same.

"What're we doing anyway?" George finally asked,

"We're reading at a tree me and-" He stopped himself and gulped,

"You and who?"

"Uh, Leo. We used to read, he never enjoyed it but that was a part of the fake feelings he had towards me I guess. Pretending you like whatever your partner does." He shrugged,

"I'm sorry, you deserve better. You'll find better!" George reassured,

"I hope."
