Serena woke up the next morning to gentle rays of sunshine on her face, which shone in through the window. Still a little sleepy, she blinked a few times and then registered the light weight that was resting on her hip. Slowly her gaze wandered down to discover a strong arm over her hip, the black fingernails of which caught her eye immediately. Behind her she felt the pleasant coolness of his body and the feeling of his bare chest against her back.

Serena closed her eyes with a smile and pictures of the night before flashed in her. Some of them even made her blush a little after, but she couldn't stop smiling. It even seemed a little as if she could still feel his capable hands on her body, still hear his seductive voice when he had whispered her name passionately.

Very slowly and carefully she turned her upper body and looked into Sebastian's face. She had never seen him with his eyes closed, but now he was lying in front of her just like that, the hair still a little bit loose on the head. He really doesn't look like a demon, she thought briefly and resisted the urge to brush one of his three unruly strands of hair back from his face. While she was still looking at his peaceful face, he opened one eye and a mischievous grin reached his lips.

"If you keep staring at me like that, I'll blush, Lady Serena.", he said softly and opened his other eye as well. Serena had to smile weakly and met his eyes.

"Did you sleep?", she asked in a whisper, ignoring his comment. Slowly he raised the arm that had rested on her hip to brush her hair from his face and looked at her again with that look that he hung up whenever he could instruct her.

"Demons don't have to sleep, have you already forgotten?", he asked cheekily and Serena gave him a sour look, "But I didn't feel like just staring in front of me all the time, so I closed my eyes.".

"You could have got up.", Serena said softly, sliding a little closer to him. Immediately his gaze softened a little and he put his arm back around her waist.

"That's right.", he said and smiled weakly, " But I thought it was much nicer to hold you all night. Plus, after that, you seemed pretty ... exhausted. I didn't want to take any chances and prefer to stay with you ... in case something should happen.". Just as Serena was about to reply, she froze in her movement and her eyes widened in shock. With a jerk she sat bolt upright next to him in the bed, so that the blanket slipped off her upper body. With a raised eyebrow Sebastian looked at his lady confused and cocked his head slightly.

"Is ... everything alright?", he asked, now propping himself up on his elbow. Very slowly, as if she was having trouble processing something, Serena turned her head to him and continued to look at him with big eyes. At the sight of her, Sebastian had to think for a moment of a hare sitting in front of a wolf, but with every passing second he became more restless. Although he had learned that his lady could behave a bit strange at some times, he could certainly not attribute the current situation to one of her quirks.

"What ...", Serena began, still staring at her butler as if she had just found out he was a demon. Sebastian straightened up a little more worried and put a hand on her back. Could people get a stroke or something like that if they'd gone too far with making love?

What if ... if I'm pregnant now?", his lady finally pressed out, dismayed, and continued to look at him confused. For a brief moment Sebastian could just blink at her in confusion. Then he couldn't help but laugh. People were really amazing, especially his lady, he thought as he collapsed back on the pillow, giggling.

"What's so funny about that?", his lady hissed at him immediately and then he forced himself to interrupt his laughter briefly to look into her angry and at the same time frightened eyes.

"Excuse me, Lady Serena.", he began, "But you don't have to worry about that." Amused, he watched as his lady's features slowly relaxed, but she still looked at him confused.

"Demons are incapable of procreation.", he added and then she nodded very slowly, but Sebastian couldn't quite make sense of the expression on her face. She looked out the window for a moment before turning her face back to him.

"I didn't have that ... impression last night.", she said and with a grin he saw that her cheeks turned red at this statement.

"Then I'll try to express it more like this: Humans are not able to receive the ... brood of a demon," he said and then slowly pulled her back down with his hand. Blinking a bit confused, Serena lay back on her pillow and looked briefly at the ceiling. Although she was happy and relieved about what he had just said to her, it still sounded unreal to her ears in a certain way. There was brief silence in which Serena only chewed her lip thoughtfully and Sebastian watched her. Then suddenly her head snapped around to him and she looked at him with furious eyes.

"Why do you laugh about such a serious topic at all?", she snapped at him, "How should I have known all this?". A cheeky grin appeared on his face and he innocently shrugged his shoulders.

"I humbly apologize, Lady Serena.", he whispered, smugly clasping his hands under his head. Lying comfortably on his back, he continued to look at her with a cheeky look.

"Yes, yes, you cheeky demon.", Serena muttered, but lay on her side to get a better look at him. A low, amused laugh escaped him briefly before he looked at her a little more seriously.

"If it is not possible with humans ...", Serena began and propped her upper body on her elbow, "... can then actually demons among themselves have children?". A little surprised by the question, he raised his eyebrows and seemed to ponder his answer for a moment.

"That ... is difficult for humans to explain.", he replied, looking her straight in the eyes, "There are no children among demons in this regard. We are not conceived and born.". Even though Serena had expected such an answer, she looked at him in confusion. It was just difficult for her to understand how something living could come into being in any other way.

"But you must have come into being sometime ...", Serena said and almost automatically brushed one of his unruly strands of hair from his face again. A short giggle could be heard from Sebastian, but he continued to look directly at her.

"Of course. Otherwise I would hardly be here now.", he said and immediately Serena felt a bit stupid again," But as I said ... that's very difficult to explain to humans.". Serena nodded slowly, understanding that he either didn't really want to talk about it or just couldn't.

"But have you never wished for ... children or something like that?", she asked in a low voice and unconsciously held her breath. A soft look emerged in his gaze as he watched her.

"I am a demon, Lady Serena.", he replied in a deep voice, "I have no such wishes.". A little taken by surprise by this direct answer, Serena cocked her head and looked at the sheet between them. Again and again she actually seemed to forget that he was actually a demon, a devil, and not a human being.

"But you ... wish ... to be close to me?", she asked very carefully, not daring to look at him. As stupid as the question seemed to her, it was the first thought that crossed her mind when he answered him.

"So ...", he began, rather overwhelmed with her question. He'd never had to deal with anything like this before. As a demon, he had never had to. But now he was lying there, naked next to a woman in bed and didn't know what to answer her simple question.

Instead of answering, he put his arm around her body and pulled her to his bare chest. While his lady seemed to be waiting for an answer, he briefly buried his face in her long blond hair and closed his eyes for a moment.

"We ... should get up. You are surely hungry, Lady Serena.", he finally said and opened his eyes again. There was a loud sigh below him, but when Serena straightened up a little to look at him, she smiled weakly at him.

"Actually I am hungry.", she said with a lovely grin on her face. Briefly she looked at him with a searching look, as if she wanted to find out what exactly was going on in his head. But then she slowly propped herself up with her arms and sat up so that she could stretch. Of course, Sebastian insisted on letting his gaze wander over her bare, shapely upper body again before he got up too.

"Shall I help you get dressed, Lady Serena?", he asked and was already fully clothed next to her bed, a cheeky grin on his face, "After all, I helped you undress last night.".

"Better give me something to eat.", she replied, but couldn't help but grin either. She would have loved to have accepted his offer and felt his hands on her body again, but she couldn't indulge in her desires all day.

"As you wish, my lady.", he said and then left her alone in the room.

When she entered the dining room a short time later, Sebastian was of course already finished with all the arrangements. As usual, Serena took a seat at the table and let him pour her tea. As he did this, Serena couldn't fight the urge and let her gaze wander down his body. A clear clearing of her throat from her butler startled her from her appraisal and she quickly turned to her cup of tea.

Sebastian tried hopelessly to hide a giggle in a cough and then put the teapot back down. Serena sipped gently at her black tea and felt herself take a sigh of satisfaction at the taste of the hot drink.

"I think it will take a few days for one of the informants to contact you.", Sebastian said after a short while and sounded serious and businesslike as always. Serena, too, pushed aside the mental images from the previous night, which she had just been indulging in, and refocused.

"After all, that was to be expected. But even if it takes several weeks, I'll wait patiently.", Serena said, even though she knew inside that she would rather receive any information about Jonathan Wyrodd yesterday than today. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sebastian nodded weakly while she took another sip of her tea.

She would have to wait, she thought, slightly frustrated. But a small, nasty thought formed in her head at the same time. Of course, she had to wait, but at least she had the best pastime that one could imagine.
