Friday night at Jakes, Sydney and Judy went to the ladies room. Doug said "guys what is wrong with Sal. I stopped in the chapel the other day, he looked pretty down." Booker said "he's been like that all week, a good reason not to get married." Harry said "he having problems with his wife huh. I feel bad for the guy." Booker said "I know what he needs. a beautiful lady to cheer him up, boost his ego." Tom said "he's married you idiot." Booker said "I'm not talking that ok, I'm just saying like lunch with a beautiful lady, she can talk to him listen to him like he is interesting, laugh at his jokes, you know give him an ego boost make him feel better about himself" Doug said "Well that would work. but where are we going to find a beautiful woman who would sit and talk to Sal and listen and laugh at his jokes." They all looked at Tom. Tom said "What?" Booker said "well you've got a sweet girl who is just sweet enough to sit and laugh at Sal's jokes, and make him feel important." Tom said "no way." Harry said "she is sweet. She would probably do it." Tom said "no." Booker said "Hanson you that insecure with her, that you're jealous of Sal." Booker laughed. Tom said "Shut up I'm not jealous of Sal, but I don't want Sal having lunch with Sydney, then getting the wrong idea, thinking that Sydney thinks he is interesting and likes him. I don't even want to get that started." Doug, Harry, Booker laughed. Harry said "What about Judy." Tom said "no look she works with him everyday" Harry said "well there is Dorothy, but she isn't sweet." Doug said "you got that right." Harry said this is sad 4 guys and we can't find a girl." Booker said "I got the perfect girl, she is a friend of mine, Monica is the perfect girl for this, she is beautiful and she will do it I will tell Sal she is my cousin, I will ask him to sit with her keep her company for lunch until I can get there.." Sydney and Judy came back. Tom said "Officer Kramer, can I have a dance." She said "yes Officer." He laughed. Tom had a lot to drink, the guys were doing shots. Sydney said "ok Hanson I think it's time to go. Give me your keys so I can drive." She helped him in the car and home to their apartment. He fell asleep the minute he hit the bed.
Saturday morning Fuller wanted a briefing on new cases coming up. Everyone was in the office. Judy and Sydney were in Fuller's office waiting. Booker came in. Said "Sal buddy you think you could do me a big favor." Sal said "Sure I got nothing to do today, my wife is out of town with the kids." Booker said "my cousin is going to be coming and I told her I would take her to lunch, but I kind of have to take care of a little problem, so I'm not sure when I will be able to get to lunch, I'm do there now, but I have this meeting with Fuller, then I got to handle some things. I can't get a hold of her, do you think you could go and sit at the table with her, just keep her company. Until I get there of course." Sal said "uh sure I can do that." Booker said "Thank you so much buddy". He told him where to go, so Sal left. Tom said "I don't know if this is a good idea Booker. He is married you know." Booker said "relax Hanson it's just lunch. I told her to leave after an hour, to just say I can't wait any longer for Dennis I have to go, but thanks for keeping me company.
Saturday night Tom and Sydney had pizza, and were watching a movie on the couch. Sydney had her head on Tom's shoulder. At 11:00 the phone rang. Sydney said "that's weird, it's Sal." Tom looked at Sydney. Sydney said "hey Sal." Sal said "hey Sydney I'm sorry to bother you, I was wondering if I could talk to Tommy." Sydney said "sure just a minute." Sydney said "Tom he wants to talk to you." Tom said "Hey Sal." Sal said "Tom I'm sorry it's so late, but I really really need to talk to you." Tom said "ok talk." Sal said "no in person." Tom said "tomorrow?" Sal said "no look it has to be tonight, I'm downstairs outside of Sydney's building." Tom said "ok I guess I can go outside talk to you." Sydney said "he outside?" Tom said "yeah says he needs to talk to me that it is important. I won't be long." Sydney said "just bring him up, you don't need to talk outside, I'm going to be taking a bath and going to bed anyway." Tom said "ok." Tom said "Sal look I'll come down and get you we can talk upstairs." Sal said "no that won't work, Sydney can't hear this." Tom said "Sydney is going to go to bed." Sal said "ok." Sydney said "Judy and I feel so bad for him, it is so awesome that he has you to talk to Tommy." She kissed him. Tom went and got Sal they came in. Sal said "Hi Sydney. thank you for letting me steal Hanson a minute." Sydney said "I'm going to bed. night Tommy." He hugged her she left.
Tom said "Sal this better be good, I mean I'm missing time with Sydney." Sal said "my life's a mess, it's disaster," Tom sat down. He said "whatever it is, I'm sure it's going to be fine." Sal said "no it isn't, I just committed a mortal sin." Tom said "with Booker's cousin." Sal said "I swear I went there to break it off, I was thinking of Rose and the kids, I just never thought that a girl like her could like me." Tom said "Sal you know you're an attractive guy." Sal said "you've got to believe me Hanson, I didn't mean for it to happen." Tom said "what." He looked at Sal. Sal said "it." Tom said "what do you mean by it?" Sal said "I mean it, she dragged me inside, she wanted me I got so crazy I told her I loved her But I don't. I love my wife" Tom said "you had sex with Booker's cousin" Sal said "Hanson keep your voice down so Sydney don't hear you." Tom said "Sal I don't know what to say man." Sal said "promise me you won't tell Sydney" Tom said "Sal look I can't lie to Sydney. If she asks I have to tell her." Sal said "look Hanson if you tell Sydney or Judy they will tell my wife, and I'll lose her, she will take my kids and leave. Please Hanson I'm begging you. Please look I need your help. I don't want to hurt Monica, but I got to, I know I'll break her heart, but I was hoping you could talk to Booker, maybe Booker can explain things to his cousin." Tom said "yeah I can talk to Booker" Sal said "please don't tell Sydney." He said "if she asks me," Sal said "ok just don't volunteer it ok, if she would ask you if I cheated then you can admit it, but otherwise just change the subject." Sal left.
Tom came to bed. Sydney was asleep so Tom was relieved. Next morning Sydney said "hey Hanson what did Sal want." Tom said "Sal just needed someone to talk to, about his marriage problems." Sydney said "Judy and I have been worried about them. Rose is so nice, I'm sure they will work it out though, I mean they love each other, and it's just they need to just talk it out." Tom said "I hope they can. She said " But it is so sweet of you Tommy to try and help and to listen." Sydney hugged Tom. He said "really I'm not sweet ok. I just listened." Sydney said "So Tommy do you think you could do me a huge favor?" He said "sure I'll do anything for you." She said "I was wanting to know if we could get up early today and go to Austin, to see baby Nicholas. In the pictures they send he is getting so big. I don't want him to forget me, I'm like his unofficial Aunt." Tom said "ok let's go." They got there, then spent the day and drove home late at night. Tom had called Doug when Sydney was holding the baby.
Tom said "Doug can you do me a favor and meet me tomorrow morning at chapel to confront Booker, we got a big problem." Doug said "Sure what's the problem.." Tom said "um look can't really get into it here, we are in Austin, Sydney wanted to see the baby." Doug laughed. He said "Hanson you know one day you and Sydney that will be you." Tom said "yeah I hope. I know Sydney will be a great mom. I just hope she picks me to be the father to her kids." Doug said "She will." They drove home and went to bed.
Sydney dropped Tom off, she was on a case and wanted to get to the school early. Sydney said "ok I will pick you up at 5:00." Tom said "ok sweetie have a good day." He kissed her. He went inside. Judy was there when Tom came in. He said "hey Jude." She said "hi Tommy so Sydney and you with the baby so adorable, can't wait until it's little baby Hanson and I'm the auntie." He laughed. He said "yeah well tell that to Sydney for me ok, cause I'm ready." He smiled. She said "hey Dougie." He said "hey beautiful." He kissed and hugged Judy. She said "you coming back yet?" He said "no just here to see Hanson." She said "ok I gotta go." She left. Doug said "So what's the problem." Tom said "Booker's friend slept with Sal" Doug said "What they had sex." Tom said "yeah how could this have happened, why did we let Booker man." Booker came in. He said "hey guys, what's up." Tom said "I'll tell you what's up. Your friend, who is supposed to be your cousin, she slept with Sal." Booker smiled. He said "guys I didn't tell her to, that wasn't part of the deal, I mean I paid her but to just have lunch." Tom said "What you paid her?" Booker said "yeah. I had to." Tom said "Monica is a hooker?" Booker said "a stripper. there's a big difference." Doug said "you paid her, he paid her you paid her." Tom said "prostitution, prostitution." Booker said "read your handbook Hanson it's only prostitution if she sleeps with him;" Tom said "she did sleep with him." Booker said "yeah but I only hired her for a lunch date." Tom said oh right right yeah." Booker said "What do you want me to say she was only supposed to go and laugh at his jokes for about an hour." Doug said "What come on she doesn't get paid to laugh." Tom said "I can't believe we trusted you, how could we have trusted him." Doug said "I don't know." Booker said "it would've worked if she hadn't gone to bed with him, she promised me hands off." Tom said "you're an asshole." Doug said "you really expect us to believe you didn't spring for last night." Booker said "On my mother's honor Guys maybe she does like him, well then he does feel better about himself." Doug said "you are an asshole." Tom said "you know you ruined Blowfish's life" Doug said "Not to mention Rose's." Tom said "and Rose's." Booker said "I screwed up alright, but I still think you should cough up your fair sure, I mean he had a hell of a night." Doug tried to choke him, Tom pulled him off.
What the guys didn't know is that Judy had came back. She realized that she didn't have her camera that she needed, it was on her desk. She was going to ride with Sydney, but she told Sydney to go on she would meet her, cause she had to make a call and go back in and get her camera. Sydney said "ok see ya later." Judy got in on part of the conversation, the part about paying a prostitute to have sex with Sal to cheer him up and make him feel better about himself. She left without her camera. She drove to the school and met Syd in the commons area. Sydney said "hey Jude." She sat down. She said "hey." Sydney said "hey can you let me see your camera for a minute." Judy said "What." Sydney said "your camera." Judy said "I don't have it." Sydney said "Couldn't you find it." Judy said "What." Sydney said "hey what's wrong." Judy said "I went back in to get my camera, and you won't believe what I heard, what the guys did." Sydney said "What. is it bad?" She said "yes very bad." Sydney said "Booker?" She said "Booker, Doug, Tom." Sydney said "what did Tom do." She said "I don't know if I should tell you." Sydney said "you have to."
Judy said "Ok you know how Sal was down all week with his little disagreement with Rose." Sydney said "yeah I feel so bad for him. And Tommy is so sweet, Sal came by Saturday night late and needed to talk to Tommy" Judy said "Well I don't think you are going to be saying Hanson is sweet, when you hear what they did." Sydney said "what." Judy said "Sydney the guys, hired a prostitute to have sex with Sal to cheer him up, boost his ego." Sydney spit out her juice. She about choked. She said "What a hooker no they wouldn't do that." Judy said "Sydney I heard it I went back to get my camera, and I heard Doug, Tom, Booker talking they said they hired a prostitute, she had sex with Sal, Booker was saying well she boosted his ego, he feels better about himself. It is so sickening, disgusting, I mean makes me sick." Sydney said "so when you say the guys, you're including Tommy." Judy said "yeah Hanson was there, and he was definitely in on this." Sydney said "how could Tommy do that. This pisses me off so much. I feel like such a fool, here I was saying to Tommy going on and on how sweet he was to talk to Sal and try to help him with his wife, and all the while Sal probably came over to thank Tommy for paying for the sex. How could Tommy be like that. I mean how will I ever trust him, if he thinks it is ok to cheat on your wife with a hooker no less." Judy said "honey Tommy loves you, but you've got to accept the fact that all men are pigs, us girls have to stick together.. I wanted to throw up. It is so I can't believe that they would do that, to disregard his marriage. Poor Rose We have to tell her you know." Sydney said "I know I mean I would want someone to tell me. I can't imagine having your husband cheat on you with a hooker non less, and then come home and want sex, and you give it to him, thinking he is this loyal committed man, when he's been screwing another girl. It's sickening. How could Tommy just lie to me like that. I mean I asked him what Sal wanted to talk to him about." She said "What did he say?" Sydney said "he said about his marriage problems." Sydney was so pissed off at Tommy. She said "no offense Jude, but I knew booker was a jerk, it doesn't surprise me about him, but Hanson and Penhall. I thought they were better men than this, I just this makes me sick. I don't see how I will ever be with Tommy now, if he would do this."
At 5:00 Sydney hadn't shown up. Tom waited about 20 minutes, then he called Sydney but she didn't answer. She was at home on the couch. Tom said "hey baby I'm sure you're probably on the way, call me if you are running late, I thought I would take you to Olive Garden, if that sounds good to you." At 5:30 Harry said "Hanson you want me to give you a ride home" Tom said "no I'm sure she is just running late, I figure she is driving and on her way, she doesn't answer her phone when she's driving. You go on. Have a good one." Harry said "you too." Booker left, and Fuller left. Fuller offered Tom a ride, but he said no that's ok. At 6:00 Tom called again. He said "Sydney it's fine you're running late, but just give me a call ok, so that I know you're ok. Or text me that you are ok. I'm starting to worry.
Tom called back at 6:05. Sydney said "Hanson." He said "hey I'm glad you answered I was getting worried. So how much longer?" Sydney said "longer for what." Tom said "before you get here. Where you at?" Sydney said "at home." He said "oh um what did you need to stop and change or something?" Sydney said "no I'm home for the night. Bye Hanson." She hung up. He said "Dammit. what the hell." He called her back. He said "Sydney uh what do you mean you're home for the night." Sydney said "are you getting hard of hearing, exactly what I said. I'm home for the night." Tom said "what about me." Sydney said "what about you what/" He said "you were supposed to pick me up did you forget?" Sydney said "no I decided not to." Tom said "what the hell. You know it would have been nice of you to let me know, I told the guys I didn't need a ride home, Harry and Fuller offered." Sydney said "too bad Hanson." She hung up. He said "what the hell." He called back. he said "Sydney what why are you being like this and hanging up on me. How am I supposed to get home." Sydney said "they call them cabs Tom." Now I'm not answering again, so quit calling.
Tom said "Why is she pissed at me." He called a cab and had to wait about an hour. He got home at 8. He came in the door. He said "Sydney what is wrong. I can see you're pissed at me, but why, what did I do?" He said "baby come on talk to me." Sydney said "Don't call me that I'm not your baby, and I never will be ever you got that Hanson." He said "what's wrong, what did I do." He tried put his arm on her shoulder. She said "touch me again and I will slap you." He said "Sydney what. Please I can see you're upset, tell me why. Look baby let's go to Olive Garden ok, we can talk there, I'm starved." Sydney said 'you can go wherever you want Hanson, I'm never going anywhere with you ever again, so from now on don't ask me for a ride. In fact I think you should just go ok go stay with Doug or Booker or Harry, I don't want you here." Tom looked hurt.
Tom said "Sydney my God what did I do? Please baby talk to me." Sydney was so mad she was crying. Sydney said "I'm taking a shower. I want you gone when I get back." She went and took a shower. Tom was sitting on couch trying to think of what he could have done to her. She came out. She said "Hanson dammit." Tom said "look Sydney tell me what is wrong I get your mad, I'm sorry for whatever I did just please tell me." Sydney said "I'm furious with you, but I'm more angry at myself, for actually believing that you and I could ever be together. I knew better. I knew I couldn't trust you. How could I have trusted you. Damn I am such a fool." Tom said "Sydney no you can trust me, please don't say that. I love you." Sydney said "Tom I knew better, I mean you are a man right, no loyalty, no honesty, no commitment, it's just about sex, don't care about no vows, no promises, just sex" Sydney was talking fast.
Tom said "Sydney ok slow down sit down, What I don't understand what I did, I would never cheat on you. I haven't cheated on you. I love you. Talk to me." Sydney said "ok you want to talk fine, Hanson. Let's talk. Why don't you tell me what Sal wanted Saturday night when he came over here to my apartment to talk to you. It was so important he just had to talk to you, even though it was almost midnight. Let's see you said marriage problems huh, no actually I bet he came over to thank you for springing for a prostitute to have sex with him. You know boost his ego, make him feel better about himself." Tom said "no Sydney, I mean yes but no. Look he didn't thank me ok, he was upset, yes he told me he slept with Monica, but he was horrified by it, that he cheated on Rose, he didn't intend to, look but see he wasn't supposed to sleep with her. It was supposed to be lunch." Sydney said "how stupid do you think I am, I mean I admit I made a fool of myself, I'm sure you loved it, me going on and on and on about how sweet it was that you were being a good friend, I guess you are a great friend to him, I mean paying for sex. I hope he enjoyed it."
Tom said "oh no baby you got it all wrong, look I didn't pay her, ok, I never saw her, look it wasn't supposed to she wasn't supposed to have sex, in fact I didn't know anything about the fact that he paid her ok, let me explain. Please just hear me out. You have it all wrong." Sydney said "Judy overheard you so don't try and lie. You paid this Monica this slut to have sex with Sal." He said "no Sydney I didn't. Judy must not have heard the whole conversation. Please just listen to me." Sydney said "ok talk." He said "ok Friday night at Jakes when you ladies were in the ladies room, Doug asked what was wrong with Sal, said he hadn't seen him that down. We told him he had a little fight with his wife, he was down on himself, thought he was fat, and looking old. Booker piped up with this idea, said that he knew what he needed. We said what. Booker said he needs a beautiful lady to take interest in him, cheer him, up, boost his ego, pay attention, laugh at his jokes. I said you asshole he is married, Booker said no not for sex Hanson, just an hour lunch. Harry said where we going to get a woman to laugh at his jokes. Doug said we need a sweet one. But beautiful they all looked at me, meaning you. I said no way Sydney not doing it. They said you're sweet enough Booker said so Hanson you so insecure you're jealous of Sal, and I said no I'm not jealous of Sal, but I don't want Sal thinking that you have a crush on him, so Booker said he knew the perfect girl, this friend of his Monica, he said she was beautiful and sweet and she would do it. He would arrange it. So I asked how and reminded him it's not a good idea cause he was married. But Doug Harry Booker all said hey it's just lunch Hanson. Booker said he would tell Sal that his cousin was coming to town and he needed Sal to do him a favor, go sit at the restaurant with her and talk until Booker could get there. Then Booker would tell this chick to leave after an hour and tell Sal thanks for keeping me company tell Booker she had to go. That was all that she was supposed to do, or so he said. I mean talk, listen to his problems, lend a ear, and laugh at his jokes. Make him feel better about himself. Something went wrong, or I mean see we had no idea, Me Doug and Harry that Booker paid her. He didn't mention that, nor did he mention that she was a stripper, a hooker Sydney I swear I'm telling you the truth on my mom's life, on my dad's memory."
Sydney said "ok I believe you. But still Hanson, Booker may be to blame, and Sal is also the one to blame, cause even if he was set up, he didn't need to sleep with her, he should have never let it get to that, he should have remembered he had a wife and kids at home." Tom said "I know that I agree. I had no idea he would that she would, that he would break his vows Look he came Sat night and yeah he told me that he slept with her, that it got out of hand, he never thought a girl like that would like him, I thought she liked him, which doesn't excuse what he did ok, but it wasn't until this morning talking to Booker when we told Booker what happened he said that he only paid her for lunch. Then we said what you paid her I am like prostitution booker prostitution and he is like Hanson read your handbook it's not prostitution unless she sleeps with him, we are like she did sleep with him. Then I was like Doug how could we trust Booker, how could we have trusted him. then Doug tried choke Booker."
Sydney said "Hanson you knew he was married, so what you think it's ok for him to have lunch with a woman" Tom said "it wasn't my idea, Doug and Harry agreed with Booker. I'm not there boss I can't order them not to do it, I mentioned twice it wasn't a good idea, that he was married." Sydney said "you could have told Sal, that is what a good friend would have done, not just let him get set up like that." Tom said "ok but I thought it was just going to be lunch for an hour. Booker never said she was a prostitute or stripper ok. It was lunch. I had no idea that he would cheat on his wife, break his vows, not think about his wife and kids. Please Syd I didn't. I don't condone that. I would never do that to you." Sydney said "ok so I believe you that you thought it was just lunch, and you objected, and you didn't know he would cheat, but you still must think it's ok he had lunch with her." He said "Sydney it wasn't my idea, but they said lunch. I mean you had lunch with Booker the other day and you told me it was nothing. You said it was innocent, come on how the hell am I supposed to know that he would cheat on her, or that Booker would hire a prostitute. I knew Booker was a jerk, I had no idea how bad of one though."
Tom said "Sydney believe me if I would have known it was a hooker, that he would cheat, I would have fought harder to stop it. I should have known Booker would do this." Sydney said "ok I believe you, but still Hanson you should have told me actually you said nothing on Friday you said nothing and when I asked you Sun morning what Sal wanted to talk to you about you lied to me." He said "no I didn't lie. I just didn't tell you." I said "Hanson you should have." He said "I'm sorry, he asked me not to." Sydney said "oh I get that, cause he knows that I will tell Rose but actually I'm sure Judy is going to beat me to it. And make no mistake Rose is going to hear about this. So you tell your new bestie that either he tells his wife or Judy and I do." Tom said "Sydney ok, look I get that you will tell her, you are friends with her, go to lunch with her." Sydney said "it makes me sick that guys can sleep with someone else, then come home to their wife, their girl, and not tell her, and then have sex with her. It's disgusting Hanson." He said "Sydney I know look I get it ok. But baby don't be mad at me."
Sydney said "Tom I'm not your baby, don't call me that. I'm never going to be your girl ok. This will never work out. I knew, and I tried." Tom said "no Sydney please don't say that." Sydney said "Tom you may not have known this was going to happen, but you should have told me Friday and Saturday for sure, when he told you he slept with that girl, you should have told me, it's fine I get it you're a man, you're going to side with the men on this, ok, so stick with Sal, and protect his cheating ass, that just proves that we can never be together. I'm just glad I know now how you are, before I would have told you we could be together officially, or before I would have sex with you."
Tom said "Sydney no don't do this, Look I get you're mad." Sydney said "Tom how can I ever be with you. You condone him cheating him having sex with her, if you condone that you would probably do the same thing to me. I can't let you hurt me, devastate me like that." Tom said "no I would never ever do that to you. Sydney I love you. Just cause Sal cheated on Rose, doesn't mean I would cheat on you. Sal isn't me. I get you're mad, but please just don't say you will never be with me. I get you're hurt, you're angry. But Sydney come on I'm not Sal. I would never. I don't condone cheating." Sydney said "well you should have told me, hell you should have told me Friday, but you just keep secrets you kept it secret." He said "excuse me, you want to talk about keeping secrets." Sydney stared at him. He said "I'm sorry ok. Look I shouldn't have said that.' Sydney said "no you have every right too, I feel bad I have a secret about my past, but I know that if you knew you wouldn't want me."
He said "Sydney look I love you, nothing you could tell me would make me change my mind on that. I know I should have told you Friday. I really wasn't trying to keep things a secret from you. You came back, we danced, and then I got drunk. I passed out when I got home ok. By Saturday we went to the mall I had a bad headache, I didn't think about it. I know I look I told Sal when he asked me not to tell you. I told him I couldn't lie to you. He said ok but just don't volunteer the information. I should have told you I'm sorry. Be mad at me for that. But I didn't lie to you. I told you he had marriage problem. And that is the truth. I just didn't tell you what it was. I get your mad at me ok, and hurt I didn't tell, but why are you punishing me by saying never."
Sydney said "you're a man, who is going to lie about sex, how can I trust you. I can't. We can never ever be together, so look Hanson you should be glad, happy, you should call up the guys and go celebrate." He stared at her. Sydney said "you're finally free, you're free to go out." Tom said "Stop it dammit I don't want to be free. I want to be with you." Sydney said "you're free to go out and have sex" He said "don't say that, I don't want to be free. I don't want to go out and have sex. I want you." Sydney said "well you are never ever going to have me, so hey at least you can call Booker. I mean I'm sure he can hook you up with one of his sluts and you are probably in for free, I mean you won't have to pay money, since you're hot and all." Tom said "shut up. Dammit Sydney how can you be such a bitch to me. I mean you say we can never be together. I don't want to be free. You think I'm a jerk. You say you can never ever be with me. You can't trust me. That's bullshit. I know you're mad. I get it. But I don't deserve you treating me like this. I have bent over backwards to try and win your love, to try and earn your trust. I have given up sex for you. I wanted to give up sex for you. Because I only want sex with you. I have jumped through hoops for you. " Sydney said "right go on say it because I'm such a mean bitch, I've treated you badly because I won't give you sex. Which is the only thing you want." Tom said "bullshit you know that's not true. Dammit I'm not complaining about the no sex, I'm saying you have no right to just end our chance together over this, when it wasn't nothing I did. Yeah I should have told you ok. But I don't deserve you saying we can't be together."
He was shouting at her. He said "you know you are pissing me off so damn much right now. How can you say you can't trust me, when I have gone out of my way to prove to you that you can.
