I sat around at home bored because, my wife, Quinn, she was seeing her parents for the weekend
My two daughters, well step daughters, Kahlani,11,and Cora, 5 where both at their dads
When I met Quinn they where only 7 and 1 at the time and I've always took them in as my own
Her and their dad where only 15 when they had Kahlani and 20 when they had Cora
By the time they both hit 20 they had split up, as she explained to me he was very emotionally abusive
They decided not to take the kids to court for custody and he sees the girls every other weekend for Friday morning until Monday morning
I've never liked him but he didn't do much wrong to me just to Quinn
I have explained to her that I don't like them going there but she explained how she had no choice as he has many times threatened to use her drug addiction when she was 17 and that would get him majority of the custody
So I was sat here bored as she having no idea what to do
They would text me often while at their dads but I wasn't complaining
Kahlani is aware of how much of a dick her dad is and doesn't like to go there
I was watching Netflix when I hear my phone start to ring
I pick it up and smile at the voice
"Hey babyyy" she drags on
"Hey babe, how are you?" She asks
"I'm good, I don't have long though my brothers are coming over so we can go out for dinner so I thought I could give you a call knowing how bored you would be" she explained and a larger smile kept on my face the whole time
"You have no idea how bored I am, all alone" I replied and she giggled a little
"Did the girls go ok, have you heard from them?" She asked going into protective mom mode
"Yea I drove them over and they walked Themselves up the drive, kahlani was protesting but Cora was only upset because she couldn't say bye to you so I told her to get kahlani to call you over the weekend so be prepared for that" I explained
"Thank you angel" she sighed
"It's no issue" I shrug
We talked for the next ten minutes before she had to go because her brothers where arriving
I sat watching more Netflix before my phone started to ring
I saw kahlanis name pop up across the screen and I smile
"Hey princess" I smile
"Please pick me up momma, please come pick me up" she sobs
"What happened?" I ask and shot up from my seat and grab my keys and slip some shoes on
"I showed dad my crop top you got me and he got angry and started ripping it up and called me a slut, he started calling Cora a brat because she cried from dropping a book of her foot then took my phone off me, I'm calling from my old hidden phone" she sobbed
"Go and demand for your phone back, I got that you he can't take it off you it's not his, I'm on my way right now I promise Princess" I explained as she thanked me and put the phone down
I drove fast and probably broke a few laws but anything for my angels
I got there and slammed my car door shut and walked up the drive and started banging on the door
He opened the door and I pushed my way through
"K! K baby I'm here" I yelled and she came bounding down the stairs and into my arms
"Have you got your phone?" I ask and she shakes her head
"Give me the phone, I brought it, it's under my name" I spat in his face as he rolled his eyes and shoved it in my hand
"Where is Cora?" I ask
"Out with our step mom" kahlani sniffles
"Call her, Tell her to bring Cora back, if they aren't back in the next ten minutes I will be calling the police" I yelled at him
"You can't do this! It's my weekend" he yells
"Watch me" I grit and he looks as if he's seen a ghost
"K, go pack up coras things please" I say softly and kiss her head
A few minutes pass and I watch a car pull up and their dads like second girl this week helps Cora out
When I see the tears running down her face anger fills me
"Kahlani let's go" I say and storm out
I rush up to her and pick her up and into my arms as she cries
"What did you do to my daughter?" I yell as she rolls her eyes and chews her gum
"Bae told me to take her out and scold her for miss behaving" she rolled her eyes
"Never Go near my Girls again" I yell at her
"Get in you and your sister in the car I'll be right there" I tell kahlani and pass her Cora as she rushed to the car
I get my phone out and dial the number I know most
"Baby? I told you that I was busy for tonight" she started
"Sorry baba but can you spare five minutes for the girls, I have a feeling you wanna hear about this one" I tell her and her mood automatically changes
I briefly explained the situation to her as she is enraged by the situation
"Put the bitch on the phone" she huffs
"She wants you" I smirk to their other step mother
I pass her the phone and as she listens and I watch her face get whiter and whiter and her eyes go wide
"O-ok" she's trembling as she hands me the phone neck as I smirk
"Got it all out ma?" I ask as she takes a heavy breath
"Yea, I did. Im coming back tonight though, my parents already said it was ok" she explained
"How are the boys?" I ask referring to her two older brothers who are protective as fuck over her and the girls
"I explained to them the situation, they said they would have a talk to sperm donors because they are staying with us- shit I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I said they could stay the night today and tomorrow I was going to talk it over with you" she said worried
"Angel you know that's fine, we have the room. I'm gonna go talk to the girls and I'll see you in a few hours" I said
"I love you" she stated
"I love you too" I replied and got in the car
I saw both girls crying in their seats and thought it would be best to let them have a minute to calm down as I drive them home
I pull-up to the house and open my door and then open the door for then both to climb out as I grab the bags
When I walk through the door behind them i out the bags down and pick up kahlani with one arm as she sits on my hip and do the same for Cora as they both lay their head on my shoulder and I walk over to the couch and sit down
"Daddy's mean" Cora sniffles
"I know princess, I know" I say and hug her tighter
I look at k and see her looking emotionless
"Cora you wanna go get some spoons and the ice cream tub?" I ask as she nods, trying to be enthusiastic as she can
As she walks off I pull kahlani fully into my lap as I wrap both arms around her
"You are in no way a slut, ok? You are beautiful, gorgeous, pretty and as many words you can think ok" I tell her
"Ugly?" She sniffles and it breaks my heart
What has this man done to these kids
I pull her back and cup her face in my hands
"What? Where? Hm? What ugly am I looking at?" I ask as I move her face around
"I don't see a single bit of ugly here, I see this beautiful long brown hair with the blonde streaks that I love so much, I see some adorable eyes with green and gold in them, this cute little nose, and these cute lips, now where is this ugly?" I explained as she smiled slightly
"Daddy makes me feel ugly" she sniffles
"Don't tell anyone I said this but daddy is just a mean man, I don't like him. Wanna know why he's mean?" I ask as she nods
"Because he is using all these lies, to put in your head, through your little ears that makes you sad, and why do we call them lies?" I ask
"Because they aren't true" she replies
"Exactly, they are not true. You are perfect, your my baby and I love you" I say
"But how can you love a child who isn't even yours" she sniffles and it hurts me more
"Because angel, when I fell in love with your mommy, I didn't just love her, I loved you and Cora too, two little girls you used to be, and just like you love me as your momma I love you as my daughter" I explained as she smiled
Cora walks in the room and dumps it all on the couch and takes a big breath out
"That was cold" she says as we giggle
"Cora, is k ugly or gorgeous? I ask her
"K so pwettyyyyy" she drags on and sits back on the couch
"And coras pretty" k points out
" that's is, your both so pretty, you look just like your mommy" I said and opened the tub and handed them both a spoon
"Don't tell mommy, it's an hour past your bedtime" I say and out a finger to my lip as they both laugh and nods
A few hours later they where both sound asleep in bed and I hear the door unlock
I stand up and walk to it as the door opens With a distressed Quinn
"They are ok and asleep" I said, the words she needed to calm down
"Where are the boys?" I asked her
"They decided to stay and let me get home quicker" she said and fell into my arms as I presses kisses to her head
"Get on my back" I said and turned around as she kicked her shoes of and jumped it
I walked her up the stairs and slowly opened the door where Cora is fast asleep
"Aww what a angel" she whispers
I walk over to kahlanis room and hear sniffling
"Jump down a second" I say as she does so and I open the door slowly
"K?" I say and watch her quickly wipe her face and smile
"Sorry momma I couldn't sleep" she says
"I know that's not the reason, why are you crying?" I ask and she starts crying again
"I just hate him so much, he's my dad and I dispise him so much, I'm scared to tell mom incase she gets mad, but all of the things he does and says to me I just can't get it out of my head" she cries
"Why would your mom be mad?" I asked knowing she's right next to me
"Because she always tells me even if he isn't the best he's still my dad, but momma she doesn't know half the things he says to me because Cora still loves him for now and I don't want her taken away from him, but I do I don't want her growing up with him treating her the way he does me" she continues to cry
"Do you want a hug princess?" I ask as she nods
"Have a better one" I state and move out of the way as Quinn rushed in and they wrap their arms around each other
"I'm not mad, I'm not mad at all, I love you kahlani I love you with every bone in my body" she soothes her while sniffling
"I don't want you seeing him either don't worry, but I need you to tell me when he's saying things to you, I need you to tell me. I'm more mad at you for now telling me than I am for hating him" she explained as they pulled away
"All I want if for you to be happy and if he's stopping this then you won't see him anymore, I don't care what he holds over my head, I will fight for you harder then I could ever" she explained as k nodded

Me and Quinn sat across from their dad as he glared at us and the girls sat up next to the judge
"So Quinn O'Connell I am aware that you had a drug addiction when you where 17, is that right?" The judge asks
"Yes your honour, for 2 months, I have been clean for almost 7 years now and I haven't touched it" she explained
"Your doing well" her lawyer whispers
"And Jackson I am aware the two of you split up because you where very emotionally abusive and Quinn was scared of her and your children's well being" she explained
"What! That's such a fucking lie" he yells
"Well that proves that" the judge says as the room laughs slightly
"Kahlani and Cora, am I correct?" She turns to the girls
I have a good feeling with this judge
"Yes your honour, Cora be polite" k replies then whispers to Cora
"Yea onor" Cora says as everyone awes
"So what is your mom like, mommy that's wrote down here" she asks with a smile
"My mom is the best, she loves me and she comforts me, she's always worked the hardest to make sure me and Cora have the best in life even at the age of 17 she had two jobs just to make sure I could be happy" kahlani explained
"Mommy is the best, mommy takes me to school with a kiss, mommy gives me snacks, mommy reads me to bed, mommy gives the best hugs, mommy makes me dinner, mommy makes be better when I'm icky, mommy makes me laugh when I sad, mommy fixes my boo boos, mommy loves me and I love mommy" Cora goes on a rant about her with a big smile on her face as I couldn't help but let a tear fall at her little words
"I'm happy for you girls, what is your step-mother like, momma that's written down here" she asks
"Momma took us in as if we where hers and loved us so much, she's always there when moms away or at work and she's always there to cheer me up, when I asked her the other day how could she love a child that isn't even hers, and she simply told me that when she fell in love with my mom she fell in love with us to, I know she loves us as her daughters and not just her step children" she explained as I let more tears slip but try to hide it
"Momma is silly" is all Cora says with a giggle
"And why is that Cora" the judge asked interested
"Momma is always being silly to make me laugh, she just wants me to be happy, when I cry she hugs me and tells me she loves me, and then she be silly and makes me laugh, she tells me funny jokes and she makes funny dances when making snacks, my momma is very silly because she loves me and I love her" she explains and I can't help but laugh a little as I choke up
"And what is your dad like, daddy as I have here" she asks as I take a deep breath
They both stay quiet as they get scared as their dad gives them a glare
" your honour please can I talk to my daughters a second" I ask as an outburst she looks at me sceptically but nods
"K, Cora look at me" I say soothingly as they take their gaze off their dad to look over at me
"I love you, you are not in any trouble understand, the judge just wants to know the truth about your dad, I want you to be brave and tell them what it's like to be at daddy's, can you be my brave little girls and do that?" I explained as they nodded
"Thank you your honour" I say
Kahlani takes a deep breath and looks back over to me as I nod my head
"I can't say I like my dad, no matter what he did, calling me names, yelling in my face, taking my personal items and breaking them or ripping them, he used to tell me nice things like I was his little princess, but now things have changed and it's I'm a brat, I'm moody, I'm a slut and I'm a little bitch. I used to like my dad but then he changes and now my dad scares me and I don't like to be near him, he's made me feel disgusting and ugly, I spend nights crying in my room thinking about the lies he puts in my head. But I just have to say one thing, he is so sick because even though he was so horrible my mom always used to tell me to love him, because she thought that seeing my dad would make me happy and that I needed him in my life, but if I'm going to be honest I don't want to see him again and I will be perfectly fine without him" she explained in anger as tears streamed down her face
I mouth 'I'm so proud' to her as she nodd
Cora just starts crying as kahlani hugs her
"What's the matter?" K asks as Cora whispers in her ear
"She's scared of what he's going to do if she tells the truth" kahlani says looking at the judge
"Kahlani can you bring your sister up here" the judge request as she does so
The judge sits Cora In her lap and passes her the mallet thing
"You are going to hit the desk every time I say something true, pretend it's just me, you and kahlani" she says as Cora nods
"Is daddy mean?"

"Does daddy shout?"
Bang
"Does daddy make you happy?"
Silence
"Does daddy call you mean things?"
Bang
"Does daddy make you cry?"

"Has daddy ever hurt you?"

"What!" I yell
"Miss can you take a seat please" the judge asks
"Yes your honour, sorry for my disturbance" I say
"Did daddy hit you?"
Silence
"Did daddy use an object to hurt you?"
Silence
"Can you tell me what daddy did?" She asks and Cora whispers in her ear
"He grabbed your hand and dragged you to the storage room and locked you in there for hours, while it was cold" she states
'Has your dad ever don't this to you?" She turns to kahlani as she nods
"Ok I think I've heard enough, from what I am told, I've heard child neglect, child abuse, emotional abuse, and locking children in a cold room for hours, also neglect. The custody for the father is decided as supervised visitations if the mother allows it, and full custody to the mother and step mother" she says
"Hit that" she says and points to the little wooden things and Cora hits it with the Mallet
The judge passes it to kahlani whose smiling as she hits it too
"Court closed, your trial will be discussed later but for now you are under the arrest for many cases of child neglect, and child abuse" the judge says and a officer cuffs their dad
"Girls you can go back to your mothers now" she tells them
They walk down the steps as k runs into Quinn's arm and Cora runs into mine as I pick her up
"Let's go home" I state with a big smile
