Tom and I sat in the dressing room backstage on the "Jimmy Fallon Show", waiting to go on as we Face-timed Tom's parents and brothers.
"Hey, baby." I cooed, Tom and I smiling into the camera as Nikki held up our baby son, Bentley. He giggled and squealed at the camera, making tears prick my eyes.
"How's he doing, mum? He looks like he's having an amazing time with his grandma and uncles." Tom cooed, making Bentley squeal and ball his hands into fists as he gently hit the camera.
"He's having a great time, aren't you, sweetie? He's been so busy playing with his uncles that grandma has barely had any time with him." Nikki spoke and smiled at our son.
"Does he still get confused when he sees Sam and Harry together?" Tom chuckled.
"Yes." Nikki nodded, making Tom and I laugh as he wrapped his arm around my waist. Suddenly, we heard barking in the background, making Nikki look towards the sound.
"Aw, mum, let me see my girl!" Tom laughed, making me smile as Nikki angled the camera so that our dog, Luna, came into view. She saw Tom and immediately started barking, her tail wagging erratically.
"If you can't tell, both of them miss you." Harry spoke in the background.
"We miss them too. Our flight home is tomorrow, so we should be okay to pick them up the morning after." I nodded.
"That's absolutely fine, you know that I love looking after my adorable grandson." Nikki smiled, making us return it as we heard a soft knock on the door.
"Come in!" Tom called. The door opened to reveal one of the staff of the show.
"You guys are on in five minutes." she nodded.
"Brilliant, thanks for letting us know." I smiled. She returned it before shutting the door.
"Mum, we need to go, we're about to go on. But say hi to dad, Sam and Paddy for us, and we'll be there to pick up Bentley and Luna in a couple of days." Tom nodded.
"Alright, honey. Break a leg, you two, and I'll see you then." she smiled. We returned it before hanging up and starting to get ready for the interview.
Tom and I stood backstage, his arms wrapped around my waist from behind and my head on his shoulder as we waited to be called on.
"Now, our next guests are a couple of young actors who announced a year ago on this very stage that they were not together, only to announce two weeks later on social media that actually, they were. Please put your hands together for Tom and Y/N Holland!" Jimmy announced. I started to walk on, followed by Tom as we smiled and waved at the clapping audience.
"Welcome back, you look stunning." Jimmy smiled as I hugged him.
"Thank you so much, it's amazing to be back." I returned, sitting down on the sofa as Tom and Jimmy also hugged. Tom sat down, his hand immediately finding my thigh as I crossed my leg over the other.
"So, you are here to discuss your new movie, that both of you are starring in." Jimmy nodded. We returned it.
"Yeah, so it's another Russo Brothers one. It's called "Cherry'' and it's based on the life of a real veteran, who had a really tough time after he got back from action and struggled with drug abuse and stuff like that. I play him, and since we're married and work well together, Y/N got hired to play my character's wife." Tom nodded.
"And how was it filming that?" Jimmy asked.
"It was amazing. It was my second time working with the brothers, and it was Tom's fifth or sixth time, and we always love working with them. We got to travel a lot for sets as well, which was just incredible." I smiled.
"Now, regarding your relationship, we need to clear some stuff up, guys." Jimmy scoffed and shook his head.
"Here we go." Tom smiled, making me return it as the audience chuckled.
"A year ago, you two announced on this very show that you were nothing more than friends. But then only two weeks later, you officially announced your relationship, and then before we knew it, we were getting pregnancy and engagement announcements. What the hell happened?!" Jimmy exclaimed, making Tom and I chuckle as the audience laughed.
"Um, yeah, it's been one hell of a year. We announced our relationship after having been together for almost two years, and I guess that things just started coming together. I won't lie, I had bought the engagement ring after only a year, and I was just waiting for the right time to pop the question. And then, we found out that Y/N was pregnant." Tom nodded, making me return it as I put my hand over his that was still on my thigh.
"It was a shock to your fans to find out that you were pregnant, especially because in the public eye, you'd only been together for a matter of weeks before you announced it." Jimmy spoke.
"Yeah, we realise that it was quick to everyone but in reality, we'd been together for two years when I found out, and so it was amazing. It was a surprise, definitely, but a happy one." I smiled, making the audience laugh.
"So, Y/N, you gave birth to your son, Bentley Holland, two months ago, correct? And we also got to meet another new addition to the Holland family, Luna, the adorable Cocker Spaniel." Jimmy stated.
"Yeah, it's amazing. It's very hectic being two actors living in London with a small baby and a dog, but we make it work." Tom chuckled.
"I actually have a fun little thing for you two to do. I have a relationship quiz." Jimmy smiled mischievously, making the audience go "ooh" as Tom and I looked at each other.
"If we get divorced because of what gets said here, Jimmy, I blame you." Tom teased, making everyone laugh.
"Don't worry, it's nothing that juicy, I hope. So, the first question is: "What's the cutest thing that the other person does?"." he asked before looking at us. I bit my lip at Tom, making him return the gaze.
"You first, sweetheart. I want to know what I do to make your heart melt." he smiled, making the audience laugh and "aw" as I jokingly rolled my eyes.
"Okay, so, our kitchen is set out so that my back faces the living room when I'm cooking. This means that I can't tell when someone walks in. So, I'll be cooking at the stove and he'll creep up behind me and will do this really cute thing where he snakes his arms around my waist. Whenever he does that, we'll just stand there and sway for, like, ten minutes at a time." I smiled, making the audience "aw."
"Aw, that's so adorable. Is there anything else that he does?" Jimmy inquired.
"Yeah, so basically, we have a huge open space in the kitchen next to the dining table. So, when we have date nights at home, Tom will always play our favourite song and asks if I want to dance, and we end up fully waltzing around our kitchen." I nodded, more "aw" sounds coming from the audience.
"It sounds like you married a very romantic guy, Y/N." Jimmy chuckled.
"I do try." Tom teased, making me smile at him as I gently squeezed his hand that was still on my thigh.
"What about you, Tom? What does Y/N do that's really cute?" Jimmy asked.
"Well, I also love just dancing around our kitchen with her, but my all-time favourite thing is this. Y/N can tell that I've had a bad day at work from the tone of my voice on the phone, and so I'll get home and will see a takeaway on the coffee table, and loads of blankets on the sofa so that we can watch a movie and just eat junk food in our really comfy living room. On days like that, my mum will babysit our son, and we'll just relax, do face masks, watch movies and just enjoy each other's company." he explained, his hand squeezing my thigh and gently massaging the skin as he talked. I bit my lip and smiled at him.
"That sounds so amazing." Jimmy chuckled.
"It really is." I smiled.
"Now for a slightly juicer question. What annoys you the most about the other person?" Jimmy asked. Tom and I looked at each other.
"Don't you dare." I shook my head with a laugh.
"I'm going to do it, babe." he smiled, making me stick my tongue in my cheek and try not to smirk as the audience made "ooh" sounds.
"Sounds like you thought of something immediately, Tom." Jimmy teased.
"Oh, I did. I love Y/N, but she's a MESSY person." he started, smiling at me as I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"I feel like I'm about to be exposed." I chuckled as I rested my head against my hand.
"You are, sweetheart, don't even try to deny it, you know that it's true!" Tom laughed.
"Give us some details, Tom." Jimmy smiled.
"Okay, so she's not messy like most people are. Our apartment is relatively tidy, she doesn't just leave stuff everywhere, you know? She's messy in the way that she'll use something and then won't put it away. And don't even get me started on the lights! SHE ALWAYS LEAVES THE LIGHTS ON!" Tom yelled, making Jimmy and the audience laugh as I buried my face into my hands out of embarrassment. Though I wasn't really embarrassed, the smile on my face told everyone that.
"I literally counted how many times she turned on the lights last week and didn't turn them back off again. She turned them on and left them on twenty-five times." Tom nodded, laughs leaving everyone's lips as I shook my head and buried my face in my hands.
"But it's okay, because she's an amazing mum, so that counters the electricity bills from her leaving the nights on." He smiled, making Jimmy and the audience "aw" as Tom wrapped his spare arm around me and landed his hand against my waist, his other hand on my thigh like it had been throughout the whole interview.
"Aw, thank you, bubba. He's right, though, I do it too much, I should probably stop." I chuckled.
"I know how to make you stop, though. I'll get a jar and every time you leave a light on, you'll have to put a pound in." he nodded, making everyone laugh again.
"What about for Tom, Y/N?" Jimmy asked.
"Okay, so mine will take some explaining. So, Sunday has become our rest day. We won't work, we won't look at scripts or anything, and we just spend the day getting ourselves ready to start again on Monday. So, we literally do nothing all day on Sunday, apart from take Luna and Bentley out for a walk, but that'll be it. So, I have no idea why he does this one thing, but it's SO annoying." I nodded.
"Oh, no, I feel like I know what's coming." Tom chuckled, making the audience laugh as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"So, we're just sitting there, minding our own business. We might be cuddling, watching TV, scrolling through our phones, I'll sometimes have Bentley just sleeping in my arms. Anyway, whatever it is, he'll suddenly just go "babe, do you feel that"? At this point, I start sighing internally because I know what's coming, so I'll go "no?". Bear in mind, Jimmy, that this is on a SUNDAY. He'll literally jump up at the speed of light and will SPRINT around the lounge, then around the kitchen, he runs up the stairs and then back down, and he does this about five times. This gets the dog barking like crazy, the poor thing goes mental because he makes her think that it's play-time. Then he comes back and starts jumping on the sofa, WHERE I AM SITTING, and feels the need to just jump up and down before sitting back down and starting a conversation like nothing happened. Like he didn't just wake up the baby and make the dog go crazy." I nodded, everyone in fits of laughter as Tom chuckled beside me.
"I know that it annoys you, that's why I do it." he smiled, making me playfully roll my eyes and return the smile.
"What's it like working with each other to raise your son?" Jimmy asked. Tom looked at me.
"Tom's been amazing ever since we found out that I was pregnant. He got even better when Bentley got here. For the first couple of weeks, he wouldn't even let me change any nappies because obviously I had the hard work of labour, and I was so tired from pumping, so he did all of the work with Bentley. He still does a lot, it's very much even when it comes to changing nappies and waking up in the middle of the night and stuff." I explained.
"He sounds like an amazing father." Jimmy smiled.
"Oh, he is." I nodded, returning the smile as Tom gently squeezed my thigh.
"She's an amazing mum too. Of course I cuddle our son and give him all the affection that I can, but I'll walk into a room and will see Y/N asleep with him just cradled on her chest. It's so adorable, she's so affectionate and loving towards him, and I love that about their relationship. Yeah, she's amazing." he smiled. I returned it, tears pricking my eyes as I leant in and pressed our lips together. Tom returned it and smiled against my lips.
"Aw, we have our first kiss of the show!" Jimmy exclaimed, making the audience "aw" as Tom and I broke the kiss and chuckled.
"I can't help it, Jimmy. This woman, she's my entire life. I just appreciate her so much and I'd never want to live without her." he shook his head as he looked into my eyes. I smiled and bit my lip.
"I appreciate you too, Tommy. I love you so much." I spoke as I tried not to cry. He gave me a small smile, his hand squeezing my thigh again.
"You two are absolutely smitten." Jimmy chuckled.
"That we are, Jimmy. That we are." Tom nodded, making me smile and kiss his cheek as we continued with the interview.
