Cindy was the bartender, and did serving also when they were short staffed. She came to the booth. She said "hi guys." They all said hi, except Tom. Cindy said "and who is this hottie, I haven't seen you in here before sweetie, how about you come keep me company at the bar, and maybe we will take it from there." Sydney said "this is great. Excuse me." She got up and ran out. Tom said "dammit lady what the hell is your problem. I was just making progress with her, and you ruined it all to hell." He came after her. Cindy said "oh dear, I didn't realize that he was with Sydney, I mean I have never seen Sydney in here with any man, and he was sitting by you Doug." Doug said "oh it's ok Cindy."
Tom caught up to her. Sydney was crying. Tom said "Sydney please don't cry." Sydney said "I'm not crying over you." Tom said "I know that." Sydney said "just go, look it's none of my business who you take home and have sex with." Tom said "you're right it's not, but you can make it your business if you want to. Look I told you I am not having sex with anyone. I wasn't lying about that" Sydney said "well I guess your luck is changing, cause slutty Cindy wants your company tonight." Tom said "well that is too bad for slutty Cindy, cause she isn't getting it." Sydney said "she's not. what about after the movie? Tom said "after the movie I am staying at Harry's, since it will be so late." Sydney said "oh you are." Tom said "um yeah." Sydney said "well what about tomorrow night or the night after that." Tom said "I am not interested., and actually I have to ask you a huge favor. I mean actually have to beg you for a huge big favor."
Sydney said "I am not going to go home with you." Tom said " I know that, " he grinned, he said "that is not what I was going to ask." He laughed. Sydney said "what" Tom said "I told slutty Cindy, that I was not interested, and that kind of you were my girl. Look I know you don't want to be my girl. I get it, You don't like me, probably still hate me." Sydney said "I do, I would never go out with you, you are way too short for me. and too thin." Tom said "got it, but I like I said I really don't want any distractions from any girls. I don't want girls hitting on me, and being all slutty ok. I have to concentrate and not screw up my last chance to be a cop and honor my dad. I came to Dallas, and went to police academy, cause that is where my dad went to the academy. He was from Dallas. Sydney said "oh that makes sense."
Tom said "so anyway I was kind of pisses me off that she just hit on me like that, and so I kind of said I was making progress with you, and kind of implied that you were my girl, but maybe you were a little mad at me." Sydney said "right so what then I am not going to be letting you be all over me, or dancing or touching me." Tom said "I know, I just need you to not rat me out to her, and tell her that I lied You don't have to touch me or do anything." Sydney said "well I can do that, I mean I know what is like to have to fight off people who are hitting on you." Tom said "thanks I appreciate it." They went back in.
Doug and Harry had said to Judy "dang what is with Sydney and Hanson, she I can't believe it, she really likes this guy doesn't she." Judy said "yep I think so." Doug said "dammit, Mr police officer full uniform and she likes him, sickening." Harry said 'tell me about it." Doug said "actually I'm jealous, but I would be happy for her, if she was happy." Judy said "I think she likes him, but she is scared. I mean she was hurt so bad by a guy, and she isn't over it yet. She doesn't hurt now, but I think just the thought of ever getting hurt like that again scares the hell out of her." Harry said "so is it the same with you. I mean you are not dating any one either, are you scared still?" Judy said "yes I mean I think may be ready, but then when it comes down to it, I am like no what if he lies, or is just wanting sex, or is a jerk and will cheat on me. I barely survived."
Sydney and Tom came and sat down. Sydney said "so guys guess what Hanson begged me to do for him." Doug and Harry looked at Hanson then Sydney. Doug said "hey I don't like the sound of that" Tom said "um no not that, trust me," Sydney and Judy laughed. Sydney said "Hanson learn a lesson from my lie ok, it isn't going to work the lie won't work unless Doug Harry and Judy know about it." Tom said "ok as you know I was pissed that what Sydney calls slutty Cindy came on to me, and so I let Sydney know that I implied to Cindy that Sydney was my girl, and so Sydney agreed to go a long with it." Doug said "ok now I really don't like the sound of that." Sydney and Judy laughed. Harry said "me either this isn't going to work for us Hanson." Tom said "um she isn't ok, all she is doing is not going to rat me out and say I lied, so if you 3 will do me a favor and go along with it, I will be grateful." Judy said "sure we can do that for you Hanson, can't we men." Harry said "Cindy is fine tho." Tom said "I'm not interested ok. I don't want you guys setting me up with anyone either ok. I am serious. I need to focus on my career." Sydney said "I hadn't thought of that. You guys better not do that to Hanson." Sydney shot Doug and Harry like death stare looks. Doug and Harry said "yes boss."
Cindy came back. She said "Sydney I am so sorry hon. You are a regular, and I would hate to offend you. I had no idea that he was your boyfriend. I mean I have never seen you in here with him, or any man except Doug and Harry so I didn't know. I value you as a customer, and your friends, and I would hate to lose your business. I never would have hit on him, if I had known, and also I let all the other girls here know. We all value your Jump Street gang." Sydney said "it's ok this time, but I don't appreciate it, and don't let it happen again please I realize that you never saw me in here with any man, so I get it, but that is why you never saw me in here with any man. I mean Tommy and I have been together for a year, but long distance. Tommy lived in Miami Beach Florida and that is where we met, and then I moved here for my job, but he couldn't join cause he was on the force there, so then when we got an opening he joined me" Tom grinned.
She said "your drinks are on the house tonight." She said 'thank you." She left. Tom said "Officer Kramer, thank you so much, that was great, she totally bought it." Sydney said "you're welcome Officer Hanson." Sydney realized that she said Miami Beach. She said dammit to herself. Sydney said "hey Tom, I'm sorry I just had to make up something on the fly you know, I guess I'm a little too good at lying, or thinking of lies, but sorry about making it up that you were from Miami Beach Florida." Tom said "no that was perfect, that is exactly where I am from." Judy stared at Tom then her then both. Sydney said "oh well I didn't know, I mean how would I know where you were from. I just said the first thing that came to mind for a state. I mean there had to be some reason why she never saw me in here with you and with any guy, and I mean I have never been to Florida so I mean that is one city well no not city just state. I would like to go to Florida some day, so that is why." Tom said "well it was perfect. I appreciate it."
Sydney said to herself geez stop rambling on. I hope he didn't notice. Harry said"so Hanson does this mean I have to ask you for permission to ask your girl to dance, cause I am not going to like that." Tom said "um no you and Doug don't have to." Sydney laughed. Sydney said "let's go Harry." They left. Judy said "So Tom you are from Miami Beach or just Florida?" Tom said "Miami Beach." She said "oh that is interesting. I have never been to Miami Beach. I heard it was beautiful city. I have a friend from there. I think she went to "Jefferson High" Tom said "that was my high school" Judy said "oh really my friend went there many many years ago. " Tom said "oh I graduated 4 years ago." Judy said "really oh."
Sydney and Judy went to the ladies room. Tom said "hey Harry can you do me a big favor, and let me stay all night tonight at your house." Harry said "um Hanson i know I am hot, but I am not into guys Sorry." Tom said "good thing, cause I am definitely not into guys." Doug said "Hanson is in to 1 particular girl." Tom said "yes 1 hot beautiful girl named Sydney, and she is the only girl, and so I had to tell her that I was going to stay at your house." Doug said "and so Sydney is right you lied to her shame on you Hanson lying." Tom said "will you be quiet, don't say it so loud." Doug and Harry laughed. Harry said "and why did you tell Syd that?" Tom said "I had to I mean she was all pissed off about that Cindy hitting on me, and she was outside crying, and I told her I wasn't interested, and then she said well probably after the movie, and I was like nope after the movie I am staying at Harry's. So she calmed down. Please help me out. Please." Harry said "I will do it and let you stay, but you owe me." Doug said "you owe me too. I mean Hanson if Sydney knew you made it up and told her a lie." Tom said "please don't tell her." They laughed.
Harry said "ok we won't." Doug said "look you just make damn sure you don't ever go out and hurt Sydney, cause we are helping you with her, and if she was hurt bad or devastated by you, then it would be our fault." Tom said "I swear I would never do that. She is so beautiful." Harry said "ok you can stay. I will even help you out and mention it." Tom said "thanks." Sydney and Judy came back and then they all left to go to the movies. After the movie ended Judy said "hey I think you boys should have to buy us ladies ice cream" Doug said "um boys no, men yes." She and Sydney laughed. Judy said "ok I think you men, should please buy little ole me and Sydney some ice cream at Coldstone" Sydney said "pretty please." Harry said "Hanson you ok going, since you are staying over with me tonight." Judy said "oh Harry I'm heartbroken you and Hanson." Judy and Sydney laughed. Tom said " sorry Judy, but he is so irresistible." Tom said "Sydney I'm just teasing ok, I'm really not gay, he isn't irresistible." Sydney said "I knew that, but yes to me Harry is" Doug said "what about me." Sydney said "of course Doug." Judy said "so why are you staying at Harry's you don't have a place?" Harry said "well since we knew the movie would get out late, and I figured we would have to take you beautiful ladies for ice cream late night, since we always have to, I figured why drive all the way across town like 35 minutes away." Sydney said "So Hanson where do you live anyway" He said "Highland Park area." Doug said "oh figures snob hill." They all laughed. Doug said "course little Miss Sydney not much better. she lives at the W Dallas Victory." Tom said "sweet I saw those." Sydney shot him a look, She said "oh so you picked up some girl and went home with her and she lived there." Judy looked at Sydney.
Tom said "what no, I have never been there. I mean I have been to a concert at American Airlines Arena and a Mavericks game, and we ate at the Living Room Bar inside the W before and after the concert." Sydney said "I see so what was this a girlfriend." Tom said "what no, it was a guy from work." Judy said "Sydney maybe Hanson is gay." Sydney and Judy and Doug and Harry laughed. Tom said "Sydney I'm really not gay. No you don't understand. Look there was 1 guy at work ok, he was a dispatcher, he was from Miami Beach. I didn't I mean he was years older than me, I didn't know him from there, ok but I mean we got to talking and he said he was from Miami Beach, so when the Miami Heat played at the Mavericks, he had an extra ticket so he took me. Then I got tickets for a concert, and he and I went. It wasn't like a date thing. I am not gay ok. And I wasn't there with any girls ok. He was married, I mean no damn he is married ok. He is married I wasn't I am not. I haven't been I mean there were no girls with us either time. Ok" Doug said "Sydney what are you doing to this poor man. I cringe just hearing him try to talk his way out of stuff when he says the wrong things." Doug and Harry laughed. So did Judy. Tom was embarrassed. Sydney said "are we going to go get ice cream, if we don't hurry they will be closed." They all left.
Tom in the car said "dammit guys I get so flustered, I know I am just babbling and she is getting like more pissed off by the minute." Doug said "yes I'm sorry to laugh, but it just is funny., she has already got you whipped boy." Tom said "I know and she isn't even mine. Man I swear I don't know what is wrong with me. I would have sworn this could never have happened to me. She has me doing flips practically." Harry said "hey we would definitely be worth it, trust me, I mean she must like you cause she sure is getting pissed off with the thought of you hooking up." Tom laughed. He said "I know, and it is making me feel like she is my girl and has been and I was caught cheating on her, which I would never do. Man it is just weird." After ice cream Sydney and Judy went to Sydney's. Judy was going to spend the night. Doug and Tom stayed at Harry's. Doug and Harry were giving Tom a hard time. Saying "I hope you are not going to keep us up all night dreaming about your dream girl, going oh Sydney I love you kisses kisses." Tom said "ha ha I hope not either."
Judy said "hey Sydney are you going to sleep or can we talk a few minutes." Sydney said "no we can talk, what's up." Judy said "ok this is not my business, and you can tell me that, or you can tell me you don't want to talk about it, and I'll drop it." Sydney said "ok so this is about Hanson." Judy said "yes, you don't need to answer, but Hanson is the guy isn't it." Sydney said "um what." Judy said "Hanson is the guy who hurt you about prom" Sydney fought back tears. Judy said "I'll drop it, I shouldn't have even asked." Sydney said "how'd you figure it out, was it that obvious, do you think Tommy has figured out who I am?" Judy said "no I don't think Hanson has a clue, he is so flustered around you, it's like you can see him struggle, he's staring at you non stop, and then it's like words don't come easily for him, and he gets them messed up, he has no clue." Sydney said "Judy please promise me that you won't tell Tom or the guys or Captain or anyone. I would just die if anyone knew." Judy said "of course Sydney, I won't tell a soul ever, You know you can trust me and you can always talk to me about anything.. I will keep your secret." Sydney said "thanks." Judy said "I'm so sorry Sydney. I can't imagine. I know how that broke you, and how hurt you were, and to come face to face. And Hanson seems so nice, maybe he has changed." Sydney said "I still can't believe it, I mean I prayed I would never see him again or anyone from there. My emotions are all over the place. I mean hurt, rage, anger, love, one minute I feel sorry for him, and next minute I am hating him, and being a bitch and lashing out at him. And he is just so hot. I mean he is way hotter, his hair, his voice is deeper. I don't know how I will ever." Judy said "So Sydney you are still in love with him huh?" Sydney said "yes, I am surprised at how much it still hurts, and how much I still love him." Judy said "well have you thought about telling him. I mean maybe you could find out his reason for going a long with it?" Sydney said "no I don't want him to ever know. I mean he would just laugh at me and be horrified that he is wanting me." Judy said "honey I don't think so. But I can see why you don't want to, Just if I can give you one piece of advice"
Sydney said "ok." Judy said "ok you love him, he hurt you deeply, he doesn't know that you are Michelle, but he is falling hard for you, and you love him just as hard. If going forward, you are able to control your emotions, and actually hang out with him, and be friends, and you want him so bad, that you can't help but take that chance, I would consider telling him, Or if it comes to a point, where he gives up, cause you tell him over and over never, and he believes it, and moves on, I would tell him before that happens. Cause honey I am afraid you will just be hurting yourself more. I'm not saying he would move on. I think he will wait as long as it takes. I just don't want to see you say never, when you actually want him."
Sydney said "yes I know. Right now I am just going to try and not be a bitch to him, and keep the past in the past, and try to just work with him, be friends, so that I don't make Doug and Harry and Captain and even Tom think that there is a reason why I have been mad at him. After that I don't know. Cause I love him. Now more than I did back then, and I don't know how long I can resist him." Judy said "you can always talk to me ok." Sydney said "thanks best friend." Judy said "you know I am jealous of you." Sydney said "what you want Tommy?" She laughed. She said "no but see you have all the power over the guy who hurt you, You have the way to get the perfect revenge. I mean he is falling hard for you, he can't stay away from you, and yet you are getting mad at him, and he has no idea why, and all he can do is squirm and try to talk you down. You can wear clothes that bring him to his knees, flirt with other guys, and just make him miserable and drive him crazy, and he can't stop it. I wish I had that chance with my ex." Sydney said "I hadn't thought of it like that." They laughed and went to bed.
