Peter walked out and we all followed but the bird flew away, there was the sound of a branch snapping and we all turned in that direction.

"Psst"
we heard from that direction but saw nothing. We all huddled together until a beaver came out from behind the snow.

"It...it's a beaver."
Lucy said.
"Way to state the obvious, Lu."
I said jokingly. The beaver came closer to us and sniffed around.
"Here, boy."
Peter spoke clicking his tongue and reaching his hand out.
"Here, boy"
and Peter walking over to the beaver cautiously.

"Well I ain't gonna shmell it, if that's what you want."
The beaver said very bluntly which made me burst out laughing as everyone else gasped.
"Uhh, sorry."
Peter said, a little embarrassed.
"Lucy Pevensie?"
The beaver asked Lucy.
"Y-yes?"
And he handed Lucy a handkerchief.

"That's the hankie I gave to Mr Tum..."
"Tumnus. He got it to me just before they took him."
Beaver explained.
"Is he alright?"
We asked, Beaver looked around and whispered
"further in."
So we moved to follow but Susan stoped us.

"What are you doing?!"
"She's right! How do we know we can trust him?"
Edmund asked.
"He said he knows the faun."
Peter said, trying to convince them. Susan rolled her eyes.
"He's a beaver, he shouldn't be saying anything!"

The beaver walked out from behind a snowy slope.
"Everything alright back there?"
"Yes. We were just talking!"
I said quickly and started walking.
"That's better left for safe quarters."
The beaver whispered.
"He means the trees."
Lucy spoke, looking around and we followed the beaver.
"Come on. We don't want to be caught out here after nightfall."

We walked for a while to fine a clearing with a cute house in the middle.

"Oh blimey! Looks like the old girl has the kettle on. Nice cup o' Rosy Lee."
Beaver spoke as we neared his house.
"It's lovely."
Me and Lucy said in unison.
"It's merely a trifle, you know. Still plenty to do, ain't quite finished it yet. It'll look the business when it is, though."

We walked closer to his lovely house. "Beaver, is that you? I've been worried sick!"
We heard a voice as we saw a different Beaver come out of the house.
"If I find you've been out with Badger again, I..."
And she stopped taking as she saw us. "Well, those aren't badgers. Oh, I never thought I'd live to see this day! Look at my fur. You couldn't give me ten minutes warning?"
She said turning to Mr Beaver.
"I'd have given you a week if I thought it would've helped."
He explained and we all laughed.

"Oh come inside, and we'll see if we can get you some food and some civilised company."
Mrs beaver welcomed us in.
"Careful watch your step!"
They warned us and we all stepped inside the house.
