Chapter Twenty-Eight - Vegas.

"Can I add to my pass line bet?"

I shook my head and stopped as I walked by the Squad table. 

"No, you have to back it up first."

"Can I press the six?"

"You don't have any money on the six yet."

"Okay, start over."

I laughed. 

"There's no starting over in craps, Capp."

"Come on, you're scaring me here, bud."

I briefly looked at Kelly before walking away to the locker room and sighed. I looked at my stomach in the mirror and smiled. I couldn't wait to meet her. I changed into my uniform and walked back to the ambo.  

"Alright, at least you're getting it out of your system before we hit Vegas. Tony, you're up. Clear the table."

"Maybe I.."

"Hey, don't even think about bailing on me."

"No way, dude, I'm in."

"Alright, you better be."

I put my head down and shook my head. I pulled open the back door of the ambo and I saw Kelly jog over to me. 

"Can I talk to you, just for two minutes?"

I nodded and sat down on the bumper of the ambo. Kelly sat down next to me and sighed. 

"I feel like you've been avoiding me."

I scoffed.

"I'm not avoiding you, I'm just not really talking to you."

"Why?"

I looked over at him. 

"Look how you've been acting lately Kelly. Vegas really?"

"I just need to get away from here for a few days."

I nodded. 

"I get that, but you also told me you were going to be better. For me and baby girl and so far I haven't seen that."

He nodded. 

"You're right, I'm sorry."

I nodded. 

"Come to Vegas with us."

I chuckled. 

"I don't think Vegas is the hot place to be when your pregnant."

Kelly nodded and leaned over to kiss the side of my head and I quickly got up to dodge it. My feelings for Kelly were still very much there and if I was going to let go of him I needed to get away from all this affection. 

"I better get back to work."

Kelly nodded and I walked inside. I walked to my brother's quarters, closed the door and sat down on his bunk with tears falling down my cheeks. He turned around towards me and I saw the worry in his face.  

"Whoa Ev talk to me."

"I don't know what to do anymore Matt."

"What happened?"

"I'm pregnant Matt, I've always wanted to be a mother, but a single mother I don't know."

"Come on, you and Kelly can work this out."

I shook my head as I felt the tears streaming down my cheeks.

"See the thing is I want us to, but I don't think we can."
