Lunch on Monday went well until I had to head back home where an angry father was awaiting me. You see although my father isn't in control anymore, every now and then he will pretend he is. He'll order both me and my men around and go all dictators on us, but outside of working he can be the most hospitable person. But that wasn't the case that day. Word got around about two shipments of coke being stolen and my father lost his shit. Right as I entered through the door shouting was coming from the foyer. Once he became aware of my presence in the house hell let loose.

"How could you lose two shipments? Never once did I lose 1," and "This shows how much you have been lacking lately, I leave you with the family business and you start derailing everything," were just a few of the things he yelled. Everything he was saying was bullshit and he knows it himself. After I took over for my father I expanded our international trades and managed to pry the business out of a few issues with other mafias. People feared me more than my father, I was more ruthless than he was due to my lack of wife and children. But don't get me wrong I am beyond frustrated with the shipments going missing, and I can't blame anybody but myself.

Following my father's never ending lecture I went to the training room and didn't come out for hours. Much of my anger and frustration was released onto the punching bags. Each punch was energizing and had me going harder each swing. Lorenzo tried to get me to go down for dinner but I wasn't in the mood.

On Thursday, much of the day was spent planning for our attack on friday. We ensured that each and every one of the men knew the plan like the back of their hand. All the guns were loaded and all the cars were stocked with ammunition. I was prepared to have some fun.

Finally friday makes its arrival and I wake up hungry for the sight of blood. I wanna kill each one of those fuckers who have made the past few weeks a pain in my ass. Everything is going according to plan. All the men are ready, the engines of the cars are roaring, I'v got energy for days and I'm just about to leave, until suddenly a black limo pulls up.

Who in the fuck is that?

The driver steps out and heads for the trunk of the car and pulls out a Louis Vuton duffle bag. All my men are outside and watch with me as the scene unfolds in front of us. When the driver opens the backseat door, a woman steps out wearing a white blazer and dress, her signature color. Fuck, I completely forgot that I told Adrianna to come today. I really need to start planning shit better. When Adrianna steps out she walks with her head held high past all the men until she gets to me. Standing near the entrance, she quickly gets to where I am and takes of her black sunglasses off. Placed onto her head Adrianna moves her hands from the glasses to her hair and fixes the stray pieces that were out of place due to the breeze. Once her face is fully revealed I notice that she is wearing much bolder makeup than usual, but it looks quite well on her.

Adrianna leans in and asks, "Is that how a sleepover starts?" I'm aware that the moment she got out of the vehicle, she knew I forgot. Trying to lie to her would just be pointless. I stuff my hands in pockets and try to come up with a good answer. "Would you believe me if I said, yes?"

She doesn't bother answering and instead pushes her way into the mansion. Each person she comes across corrects their posture and bow their head. They act as if she's royalty. Ignoring them, Adrianna continues walking until she reaches the foyer. Shouting after her I continuously apologize for forgetting but all I can hear are the sounds of her heels clicking against the granite flooring.

"I have some business to take care of; can you just wait her till I get back?"

"Brooks, if you were going to be busy why did you ask me to come. I could have been working you know?" I can tell she's not angry just more along the lines of annoyed.

"I completely forgot about my plans today but I don't want to cancel with you."

"Then we do you suggest we do then?" Adrianna puts her hands on her hips and stares at me with an aggravated look.

"Just give me a moment to think," I say. Some much is going through my mind. I really can't afford to stay here but at the same time I owe it to Adrianna. I'm supposed to be working on our "friendship" and ditching her won't look good on me. The idea of bringing her with me crosses my mind, but leaves right away. This is not Adrianna's scene and even if she were to come she hasn't had any training. Her life would be on the line and I am not responsible enough for that.

"Why don't I come?" She says it so quietly that I'm not sure if its sound coming from her voice or just my thoughts. When I don't answer her question she asks again.

"Are you serious?"

Adrianna shrugs, "Why not, I need a good stress reliever and you forgetting about me has left me with a slight edge." Shock is evident on my face. I'm not sure if she is actually being serious.

I grabbed her shoulders to bring her closer to me. "You have no training and if you die that's a whole load of shit I'm going to have to deal with. And then more people will die."

"Let's think of it as a warm up for the Cinco de Mayo party," she suggests.

"Adrianna you aware that I'm going to kill a bunch of people right now, not attend a party and fool around for a bit." She rolls her eyes and pushes my hands off of her. Taking a step back she flips her back and then crosses her arms. "No shit Sherlock, why else would everyone be carrying guns out there."

"I don't know," I blurted out. Don't get me wrong bringing her would be fun, especially after seeing what she can do with knives but this is a lot, especially for her. And what happens if she gets captured, then that adds to my plate of shit I have to take care of. Face palming my forehead I find myself in more of a predicament than before.

Suddenly a small hand removes my own from my face and a set of brown eyes replace the view. Adrianna stares at me with a pleading look. Her pleading is new and I'm beginning to enjoy it. Playing off of it I counter, "I think I've made up my mind, you should just stay."

"No, Brooks! Don't be a party pooper. Come on, let me have some fun. Yes, it may be dangerous but you said it we gotta enjoy these little moments. When am I gonna do this again. I know killing isn't in me, but I want to do something new." With each word she surprises me more. I know she's not want many expect but it seems that she wants to change that perspective for herself as well.

Walking away I say, "I don't know?"

Adrianna follows with quick footsteps, "You know what I'm not taking no for an answer, I'll meet you in the car." And with that she speed walks out and is able to beat me to the car wearing 4 inch white heels.
