STORY :
A NOURISHMENT FOR
YOUR SOUL

"Sh Yasser Al-Dawsary is one of the Imams of the Haram in Mecca. Aиϑ he tells a story of an incident that had happened over twenty years ago that he never forgot.

He was sitting in the Masjid reciting the Qur'an to his Shaykh when a man came who looked incredibly emotionally disturbed. The man walked up to the Shaykh & said, 
“I am feeling disturbed & I need you to recite the Qur'an over me.” 

The Shaykh said, “I am with my student now, but why don’t you go to the front of the Masjid, pray two rak’ahs, sit & recite the Qur'an. Continue reciting until I call for you.”

The man walked to the front of the Masjid & the Shaykh then had his student read an extended session, for over half an hour they continued.

When he finally called for the man, he returned with a face other than the one he had first arrived with! His attitude was completely different. He looked content & calm.

When the Shaykh offered to read on him now, the man said,

“May Allah reward you, I don’t need it anymore. My mind is relieved & I feel better.”

The Shaykh then said, 
“I knew when you came in that your soul looked like it was starving.

That is why I told you to pray two rak’ahs & read the Qur'an.”

Sh Yasser never forgot this conversation & would recount it decades later.

When we don’t have a relationship with the Qur'an we are missing out on nourishment for our souls."

BE SO CLOSE TO THE QUR'AN

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that with every turn of its page, your heart also turns.
You undergo a change of character; & come out better.
You come closer to Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala & you understand your religion more.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that not only do you consider it to be your companion in life, but it also considers *you* to be its companion both here & on Yawm al-Qiyamah (Day of Resurrection).

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that whenever you open to read it, it draws you in deeply & takes you on amazing journeys through power concepts & thought-provoking dialogue, through history & the undisputed facts of the future & the Hereafter; learning life lessons & learning about yourself. The journey doesn’t end until you end it (by closing the Book).

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that you make it your first point of judgement & guidance when you quarrel or fall out with a relative, spouse, friend or stranger. You place it before you with the sincerity to resolve matters & follow the causes for peace.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that if you happen to miss your daily portion of it, it preoccupies your mind & you are not at peace until you take your regular nourishment from it.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that just hearing the words, *“O you who believe…”* strikes something within your heart. You are all ears & attentive; ready to respond.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that you truly feel its blessings in your life.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that while many love listening to music & lyrical tunes, for you nothing can beat the melodious recital of your favourite Surah (chapter).

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that you actually walk
FEARLESS
. In every place, at all times, & every stage of your life. Your fear is only from One Being, & He is above His Throne, 'azza wa jall.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that the mere contemplation of a verse brings tears to your eyes.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that after a long & tiring day, all you want to do is make wudhu’ (ablution) & sit down with a cuppa tea in a cosy spot for some heartwarming reading & reflection.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that it becomes the first companion you turn to when you need to hear comforting words, or a shoulder to lean on in difficult times, or guidance in times of confusion. It becomes your first point of contact alongside salah (prayer) & du’a (supplication).

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that its melodious verses drown away the meaningless chatter of this world & you prefer listening to it instead of listening to much of Mankind…

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that you become recognised for it; in your character & the way you carry yourself through life.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that being in its company makes you feel like you are in the best company; the most serene, thought-provoking, heart-warming, & tranquil of gatherings. People think you are alone… but you are anything but alone.

❤️Be so close to the Qur’an that you can’t fathom the idea of dying without having memorised it. You can’t see yourself standing in front of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala in complete ignorance of His Book, His Verses, His Words......
