Chapter Six

I sheath my Zanpakuto lazily, looking in the direction I sent Ichigo. I felt all eyes on me but I ignored them as I headed towards Ichigo.

'He's strong. But whoever they were talking about earlier, he's not strong enough to defeat them.' I glance behind me, feeling the others walk behind but one was running.

Rukia ran past me "Ichigo!" All I could do was roll my eyes. I wasn't concerned about his injuries. Especially with Crevan's healing power that I attached to that last blow.

**Rukia's POV**

'That damn woman. What the hell does she think she's doing attacking Ichigo like that?!' I came to a slow jog when I got to Tessai and Ururu, seeing their shocked expressions only to share the same expression.

Ichigo was searching his body everywhere, no trace of wounds from Midori's previous attacks. "I know she hit me. There were wounds here just a moment ago!"

"Netsu o kaesu (Return the heat)" I looked behind me, Midori was walking up to us. "And hi no kororo (heart of fire) are the two moves I combined. Netsu o kaesu, absorbs any spirit energy attacks that you send my way and I return it with not only your own strength, but also my own. Hi no kororo, the white fire you seen before surrounding my zanpakuto, actually heals my wounds and any others. Not a move I use often" She starts yawning and stretching "because it's exhausting, but you are my brother and I didn't want anyone mad at me." 

She stares directly at me after saying that last bit. All I could do was return her stare with a glare, but she had my gratitude. 

I walked over to Ichigo to check on him "Are you alright, Ichigo?" He nods and smiles "Yeah, I never thought Midori was this strong. It's amazing." Something crossed my mind that was mentioned before.

"Ichigo...." he looks at me curiously "Earlier, you said something about her waking up from a comma. What happened?" 

He frowned and looked towards Midori. "That's not a story for me to tell. You're going to have to ask her yourself. One thing I can say though, she wasn't home a lot. My parents spent a lot of time at the hospital."

I felt bad, treating her so coldly. I couldn't help but walk towards her, causing Ichigo's attention to come back to me.

As I was approaching her, I could hear Renji and Yumichika talk about whose going to battle her next. Captain Hitsugaya was talking to Kisuke about asking Midori to help us fight the Espadas.

I cleared my throat, catching everyones attention. "An apology seems to be in order." She tilted her head to side, curiosity plastered on her face "Why?" I look down nervously "I was in the wrong, treating you rudely and not with any respect from the beginning. So please! Accept my apology!" I bowed, eyes closed tightly out of embarrassment.

It was quiet 'Is she not going to accept...?' I slowly open my eyes, still bowing. I didn't even hear footsteps approach until I noticed a pair of shoes in my line of sight. Suddenly, there was a hand patting my head.

I looked up in shock and there was Midori, smiling kindly. "There's no need to apologize, I was the one who interrupted your meeting." I couldn't help but return her smile and whisper out thanks.

**Yumichika's POV**

I couldn't help but walk towards Ikkaku. Each time I looked over at him, his eyes never left Midori. So I figured, it's time to tease him. A woman catching his interest wasn't exactly the norm for him.

 "She's awfully strong"

"Mmhmm" was his response. I couldn't help but smirk because this was the perfect opportunity.

"Her Zanpakuto is something I've never seen before."

"Mmhmm" his eyes have not left her figure.

"She's gorgeous, Ikkaku"

"Mmh- wait what?" He finally looked at me, glaring "Have you been talking to me this entire time?! And who the hell are you talking about, Yumichika?!"

I let out a hearty chuckle, swaying my hips back and forth "Oh no one! Why don't you finally introduce yourself, Ikkaku?"

He smirked "I guess I should" he gets up from the ground and starts walking towards Midori. I couldn't help but place a hand on my hip and smirk 'I wonder.....'

"Well this is something you don't see everyday! Ikkaku finding interest in a woman" Rangiku walked up to me, her eyes never leaving Ikkaku. "I wonder what will come out of it. I mean, he has respect for his fellow comrades that are female. But I don't think I recall him willingly starting the conversation with one"

I kept my gaze on the scene unfolding before me, Ikkaku was laughing while talking to Midori. "His excuse is that he wants to fight her."

"And do you believe him?"

I smirk, closing my eyes "Not one bit"
