Ethan high fived Hilbert excited for the competition that was about to unfold and then left to find his friends. Hilbert stretched and yawned still kinda weary from waking up.

He was joined by Nate, "Another great day for competition right Hilbert?" he said.

"Dang right," said Hilbert.

"So...when are you gonna do it?"

Hilbert felt for the object in his pocket and smiled. "Later, I'm waiting till all this excitement dies down."

"That's good, I'm sure all this excitement would kill off some of the romanticism."

"That's what I was counting on."

Rosa came out, she was all ready to go except she was missing her visor and her hair was down. She was getting frustrated because her long hair was a tangled mess and she couldn't seem to get it straightened out. "Mmmm, dang this stupid hair! Ow!" she cried managing to forcefully pull some of it apart with a brush.

Nate wrapped his arms around her and gave her a loving kiss on the cheek. "I see you're having a great start," he said teasingly.

"Yeah, fantastic..." she muttered, "Is Hilda up yet? I could use some assistance here."

"Somebody call me?" Hilda yawned as she stretched and walked out of the cabin.

"My hair isn't cooperating, can you give me a hand?"

"I gotcha girl," Hilda said putting her hair up in her trademark ponytail.

Hilda got to work on fixing her friend's hair while also looking at all the Hill Valley people in attendance. "You know, Hilda this is one of those circumstances where I tell you it's OK to let loose," said Hilda.

Upon hearing that, an intense and determined grin came to her face. "Oh, I will," she said ominously, "I'll show those Hill Valley lame-o's who the best camp is!"

Hilda's grip on Rosa's long hair unconsciously tightened in her intensity, "Ow! Hilda, don't pull so hard!" she cried trying not to lose her balance.

Hilda realized what she was doing and quickly let go, "Sorry, Rosa," she said sheepishly.

"It's OK, at least you straightened out my hair," Rosa muttered.

Hilbert and Nate couldn't help but laugh sheepishly at hat just happened.

"Oh boy, I almost feel bad for whoever's going up against her," Ethan said commenting on the scene that just occurred.

"I do feel bad for them, she's terrifying when she gets like that," Red said remembering how intense Hilda got after he defeated her those two times.

"It does make me wonder how she's gonna act when she wins," said Lyra.

"I can't imagine it's much different from her reaction to losing," said Red, "only this time she'll be rubbing it in their faces."

"Yeah...we should probably stop talking before she hears us and turns her wrath on us," Ethan said fearfully.

"Yeah, good call..." Red said shuddering at the thought.

"ANYWAY, let's get to the opening ceremony. We don't wanna miss that," Ethan said grabbing Lyra's hand and pulling her in the direction of the ceremony.

"They actually had the time to plan an opening ceremony?" she asked.

"OK, it's not really an opening ceremony per se but we still don't want to miss it. This is going to be the start of the competition."

"You do know it's not for another 10 minutes right?" asked Red.

Ethan stopped in his tracks upon hearing that. "I guess I got a little ahead of myself," he said sheepishly scratching the back of his head.

"As per usual," Lyra said wrapping her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek, "that's one of the things I love about you though."

Ethan smiled and turned to face her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into a full kiss. Red couldn't help but smile at the affectionate couple. Speaking of girlfriends, he wondered if Leaf's parents had arrived yet. Truth be told, he was a little excited but also a little nervous. He had talked with them a little over parents' weekend so he was somewhat acquainted with them and now that he and Leaf were together they would be talking more. He wanted to show them that he was a better boyfriend for her than Blue ever was and that he could make her happy.

That was also the part that made him nervous, then again if Blue impressed them why couldn't he?

Leaf was fixing up her cabin in preparation for her parents' arrival, not that there was much to clean up in the first place. Hearing a car door open outside, she looked out the window to see her parents stepping out of their car. A big smile came over her face as she rushed out to greet them, "Mom, Dad!" cried out happily.

Isaac and Rebecca happily pulled their daughter into a loving hug. "How are you, Sweetheart?" asked Isaac.

"I'm doing great, I've missed you guys," said Leaf.

"We've missed you too, Leaf," said Rebecca.

Leaf separated from her parents, "You guys are just in time, the pokeathlon is about to kick off," she said leading them to the camp.

"A pokeathlon? I didn't know this camp did such a thing," said Rebecca.

"It was kinda a heat of the moment thing. The camp director from across the lake came to us about it during the battle tournament yesterday."

"A battle tournament too? Wow, I can't wait to hear all about the rest of your summer," said Isaac.

"It's been really great. Come on, it's about to start."
