As we walk into the classroom we see many people and children around the class. It was clean and looked like a nice welcoming environment
Teacher: Hello I'm Ms.Angela I will be your daughter's teacher for this school year
She smiles offering her hand for us to shake
N: Nice to meet you I'm Nick
She then looks at me offering her hand as I smile shaking it
Y/n: Hi I'm Y/n and this is Maya
I say as Angela smiles looking at us joyfully
Teacher: Maya what a pleasure to meet you
Maya lightly smiles getting closer to her Nick, ever since she was a baby she's always been distance for new people.
N: She's a little shy
Nick adds lightly chuckling
Teacher: I understand but I'm sure she'll get better here when she makes many friends
The teachers states as we agree
Y/n: Of course she's a very friendly girl and loves to make new friends
I say as Maya nods making us all giggle
Teacher: Maya would you like to go to the arts and craft table and make some friends
Maya looks at her teacher then back at us as we smile encouraging her to make new friends.
M: Yeah
She answers as Nick puts her down
M: Mommy
She calls as I glance at her
Y/n: Yes love
I answer smiling
M: Please don't leave
She answers as I nod
Y/n: Ok now go have fun
Maya happily runs off to the arts and craft centre as we watch her go. Nick was right she was growing up so fast. But she was turning into an amazing person
Teacher: She looks like a very smart kid
Angela says as Nick and I glance at each other smiling looking back at the teacher
Y/n: She is
I answer as Nick grabs my hands lightly squeezing it
Teacher: So I wondering if we can talk, just get to know you guys and some info about the classes
We nod as she leads us to her desk. We take a seat in front of her as Nick still holding my hand. I feel like he was more nervous then Maya sometimes. Angela pulls out a file whose I'm assuming was Maya's
Teacher: So I've looked through Maya's file as I do for all my students and I've seen you guys applied here a long time ago
She states
Y/n: Yeah we really we liked this school and well it's close to our house
I explain as she nods
Teacher: Good, and I'm impressed Maya passed her test with great marks
She states as Nick smiles looking at her then me
N: That's all Y/n she's always working with Maya
Nick smiles as I love the way he always supports me we're a great team
Teacher: I see but there is one question I have??
She looks a little concerned
Y/n: Of course
I reply looking at her facial expression confused about what she wanted to say
Teacher: When I was reading the name on the file I noticed you and Maya have different last names and then I looked at her birth certificate and your name isn't there as her biological mother
She says looking at me as I my heart starts beating fast. Of course we have different last names Nick and I aren't married yet plus Maya isn't my biological daughter. But that never bothered me because my love for her doesn't change due to DNA
Y/n: Yeah that's because-
Nick puts his hand on my thigh looking at me. He gave me a reassuring answer letting me know he can handle this. I nod as I let Nick explain
N: Ms-
Teacher: No please call me Angela
N: Ok Angela, look Y/n is not Maya's biologically mother but one thing is for sure that she has never made Maya feel any different than a real mother does. And I'm sure as an educator you can understand that
She nods as Nick tones turns firm
Teacher: I totally understand that but my main concern is I can tell your pregnant
I nod, honestly this teacher was starting to piss me off and I could tell Nick felt the same
Y/n: And what about that??
I ask confused
Teacher: Well I'm just wondering how Maya would react when she finds out you aren't her biologically mother and with your new baby what if she feels neglected??
She asks as Nick raises his eyebrow getting furious at her the teachers odd questions
N: And now why would she feel neglected??
He asks in a fruited tone
Teacher: Maybe feeling as though she doesn't belong
Y/n: Absolutely not, after this baby is born it's not gonna change my feelings for my daughter Maya I will always love her because she's my first baby
I say shaking my head annoyed at this teacher unprofessional comments and fake concern and she didn't even look fazed. Nick looks at me trying to calm my anger down
Teacher: Look I just want Maya's education to be affected. Like when do you even plan on telling her.
She asks closing the file and looking at us
N: First it won't, second like Y/n said she loves Maya and I don't think you need to be the same DNA to prove that and third we will tell her when we feel is the appropriate time for her to know.
He states as we get off the chair he grabs my hand letting me know he's here for me. Nick then looks at Angela as she does the same.
N: Maybe we'll have to reevaluate if our daughter should go here
He says as we grab Maya walking out of the school.
