Only once I spot him do I wish I would have just left. He is at the bar, two bottles of water sitting in front of him and a whisky in his hand.
I thought he didn't drink?
But that's not what catches my attention. Marie, the girl I'd seen him with a couple of times is standing in-front of him. I can only see his back as I approach and they look like they are just talking but then I see her step closer and plop herself down on his lap. So I do what every normal human would do - I don't wait to see what happens next and turn turn around, making my way to the door instead.
I guess it is just a Friday night thing for him after all.
Cyan's POV
My breaths come out faster than normal and I tell myself its because I am tired and walking quickly. My footsteps are heavier than usual and I tell myself that it's because I need to sleep and my body feels heavy from the long day at the beach. My chest feels tight and I tell myself its from the cold air I am breathing in.
Most importantly I tell myself that seeing Luca close to another girl was not what was causing any of the abnormalities I was feeling right now.
I barely make it a block in this state before I hear my name being called out. I tell myself to speed up as soon as I hear his voice but instead I slow down and turn around to him. Luca is jogging his way up to me looking a little angry but mostly worried. I cross my arms over my chest and let him speak first.
I knew it was irrational but I was angry, seeing another girl on his lap after he'd - after he'd -----
Well you know.
"Why is it that you tell me to wait for you and then run off whilst I get attacked by Marie?" His brows furrow and he hands me the bottle of water he had brought with him.
"Attacked?" I ask and wish I hadn't focused on that. Now he was going to think I ran away because of that.
Well you did didn't you? I roll my eyes at myself
"Yeah. I was waiting for you and then she jumped me -- wait don't change the subject." He says, pointing accusingly at me.
"Uh-uhmm..." I fiddle with the bottle, opening it and taking a sip to buy sometime as I turn back to carry on walking home. "Well - when I walked out Marie was on your lap and---"
"You got jealous and ran away?" I know he is teasing me but it doesn't make me smile.
"No. I just didn't want you to have to stop because of me. I can walk myself home." I answer instead, shrugging.
"Can you?" He asks, stopping short. "Is home where you were headed?" He asks and I nod, confused. He starts laughing and turns back in the direction we came, pointing his finger to a right turn I hadn't taken, "Home is straight down that street"
I am sure my cheeks are as bright as my dress at this point, "I blame the alcohol..." I smile sheepishly, glad that the subject is turned away from my jealousy.
