Luca's POV
".. You also cannot forget that you need to stop on the way to buy a wet-suit for her. She was telling me she wanted to buy one but we haven't gotten around to going yet." Lea says, rambling on. I had asked her if there was anything I might have not taken into account regarding my plans for today.
It was now six in the morning meaning the sun would begin to peek on the horizon soon but I still had an hour left until I could actually expect Cyan to be ready. I had given up on sleep after two cold showers. I usually slept like a rock but I couldn't stop my mind from spinning all night. My mind particularly kept going back to the night I'd carried her to bed. She had looked peaceful, sleeping in my arms as we quietly moved her into her own house. When I'd laid her carefully on her bed, she had resisted a little, holding onto me with an iron grip in her sleep. I'd checked to see if she was awake but she was still sleeping. Part of me was tempted to just give in and let her have her way until she moved naturally but Lea was waiting and there was no way for me to explain the situation. When I finally managed to make her release her hold she'd began breathing a little harder and said the words which had been on my mind the past few days.
"Yeah, ok I think you told me that already. Can I ask why you are up so early today?" I grab an apple from the fruit basket and sit with her on the breakfast bar. Maybe talking to Lea would get my mind off of Cyan's sleep talk. Surely she was just having a bad dream.
"Well, I heard you get up. I'm a light sleeper so it's your fault." She glares at me and gets an apple for herself.
Being alone with Lea was rare. We were both usually busy helping my parents out or running the shack and when we were out, we usually went with a larger group of friends. "Sleep in your own house then." I mutter under my breath but she just rolls her eyes, laughing. Knowing I might not get another opportunity like this I take my chance to ask her, "So do you think I can get Cyan to stop hating me today?"
She looks surprised, "What makes you think she hates you?" She answers carefully.
I open my mouth but I really can't answer. Did I think she hated me? I got the feeling she was really open with everyone but every time I got close both physically or emotionally it felt as if she purposefully shut me out. Heck, yesterday she had gone completely tense when I'd spoken to her at the shack. Even when I'd closed the distance between us, purposefully trying to get a reaction she had just stayed there, quietly waiting for me to leave. My compliment had slipped out but it had gone completely over her head.
"It just feels that way...." I finally answer.
"You are going to have to do better than that if you want me to help you out here..." Lea throws her hands up in defeat, looking incredulous.
I groan, "You know I'm not good at that." I pause and try again. "I just think she is cool with everyone but when it comes to me, she always has a problem with what I say or do. Or she just ignores me."
Lea starts laughing and I glare at her but it just encourages her. She finally manages to get her giggles under control enough for me to understand her, "Sorry, sorry. I wasn't laughing at you just at life." Life?! Sometimes I really questioned my cousins sanity. If I hadn't known her for this long I would probably think she is crazy. "Luca, just because she isn't melting into a puddle every time she see's you doesn't mean she hates you." She says finally.
