Placing my feet on the wooden boards, I step out of the taxi, barely remembering to grab my camera as I take in my surroundings. The house stands right at the top of the beach, the sand close enough to cover my door-step on windy days. The blue wooden boards which frame the house create a beautiful contrast with the green grass surrounding the house. The white sand seems to go on forever, blanketing the beach.

I'd heard Australia was beautiful but what stood in-front of me was otherworldly. The real thing surpassed all expectations anyone would have before experiencing it for themselves.

"Miss, where would you like me to leave your bags?" The taxi driver snaps me out of my haze.

"Oh, don't worry about them I'll carry them in, thank you very much for your help," I take my bags from him with a smile and pay him for the ride.

"That's no problem, I hope you have fun while you are here." With that said, he gets into his vehicle and drives away.

I grab my bags and take them into the house, glancing over at the terrace of the house situated beside the one I'll be staying in. There are towels hung out on the banister and a bikini top hung over one of the chairs - indicating that it is likely that I have neighbors.

Reaching below the plant pot by the door, I retrieve the key that is carefully placed under it. Exactly where Belinda - the lady that let me rent the place - said it would be.

When I walk in I'm met with an open plan area -to the left of the entrance there is a fairly spacious kitchen with a white marble breakfast bar in the middle and two Light blue stools sitting on either side. To the right there is a quaint living area with a large flat screen TV and a big leather couch. I place my bags by the couch and inspect the rest of the house.

Just as in the pictures I'd been sent, I find the room I'll be staying in which has a wonderful view of the sea from the comfy looking window seat. There is a big double bed in the middle with a night table on each side. Nothing amazing, but I love it. There is a bathroom right across my room and the two spare bedrooms at the end of the hall.

My stomach grumbles and I realize it is already past 3 in the afternoon. Grabbing the keys and my camera I exit the house to try and find somewhere to eat. As I step out, I breathe in the natural smell of the sea and close my eyes.

The decision to come on this trip hadn't been an easy one. It took a lot of convincing for both myself and my mum. She wasn't comfortable with me travelling this far on my own - and neither was I - which just made convincing her even more difficult. The only thing that pushed me to do it was the realization that if I didn't do this now, I might never get the chance to again. I might never get the chance to just travel and live my life with no consequence. To do things which are not possible to do once you get older and gain more responsibilities. Well, that, and the fact that I currently had no attachment to anyone back home other than my brother and mother.

But now, taking in the view in front of me, a smile creeps onto my face and I can't help but think I made the right decision.

Stepping down onto the grass, I start making my way down the beach. Just as I am enjoying the sound of the grass crumbling under my feet, I hear a door open and glance back to see a mop of hair attached to a shirtless muscular body entering the house beside mine. Before I can get a closer look, the door closes behind him.

I shrug and continue down the path, hoping It will lead me towards what I really need at that moment - food.
