𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎

N: I could never

He smiles as he steps closer to me. We look into each others eyes and smile. But I swiftly move back remembering what happened last time we were this close. 

I try reassuring myself that what I felt for Nick was a year ago, how could I nearly feel the same way right now. I'm here to help not catch feeling plus I have a boyfriend now. 

Nick stares at me grinning as I broke the silence

Y/n: So shall we go

 I say glancing towards Maya

N: Yeah

He nods as we walked out of his room.

**20 minutes**

We had just parked the car as Nick walks out putting Maya in here stroller I grab her baby bag and we start walking into the park. Strolling around enjoying the view; it was kinda silent, but I could Nick was looking at me the entire time

N: So how was the school year

He asks as I turn my head and look at him

Y/n: It was good you know the usual and I started my internship

I answer as he drove the stroller around the park, Maya was eating her little snack enjoying the breeze.

N: Nice, Brandon actually told me about that how was it

He asks smiling

Y/n: It was good I worked with children and babies, helping them learn and develop

I responded 

N: Interesting, you wanna sit on the bench.

I nod as we took a seat. He turned Maya's stroller around, giving her the pacifier while cleaning her hands and mouth

Y/n: You know you're a good dad. I didn't think you had it in you when I first heard about the baby but I'm happy to see how engaged you are

He happily grins looking at me

N: Thanks. I try at least ever since Emma decided to neglect her. I've been there.

I look at him confused lightly raising my eyebrows

N: Has Brandon not told you

He questions as I shook my head

Y/n: Not really

I reply

N: Well um, when she told me about the baby she was 4 months pregnant. After you went back home I was kinda sad, I didn't really have the motivation to do anything expect work on my career.

I look down in my lap remembering what had happened between us. I fiddled with my fingers. thinking about how we told each other our feelings but I knew he had to take care of his family

N: I was there for Emma don't get me wrong. Whenever she called me, whenever she needed me even the day she gave birth I was there, she didn't even want to look at Maya, she had moved on she wanted a career not a family. She said she needs to focus on herself and let her go. I've done everything for her. But she didn't even bother looking back at me. She wanted to put Maya to adoption saying were young and we have careers to focus on. But from the moment I held this precious baby in my hands I knew I had to keep her. Even if that meant I would have to be a single dad. So I made her sign full custody to me and she left. I don't really know where she lives and what she does were not in contact anymore and I honestly wouldn't want to be. Since the day I found out about the baby I was there. Maya is my everything, I named her, take her of her because I love her.
