the new kid

to say the two boys were at each other's throats the whole practice was an understatement. their actions didn't go unnoticed by the coach and their teammates. thankfully, practice has ended.

"alright boys, good job today. there's always room to improve at your skill. we choose the starters tomorrow, so show up or show out." coach min tells the teenagers. "yes coach." they all respond at the same time. the team calls it up, and heads to the locker room.

"taehyung and jeon, stay back." the coach says as the two boys are walking to the locker room. they both stop and go back to the middle of the field where coach min is standing. they look up at the muscular man, knowing what this was about.

"clearly off of today's performance, you both aren't very fond of each other i'm assuming." he says, both boys nodding awkwardly in response. "i see. i'm just letting you boys know that you're teammates. your win is his win. stop acting like children." he tells them.

"yes sir." they respond at the same time. coach shoos them away. "now go get dressed." he says and the boys turn around and go to the locker room. jungkook just glares at the boy, taehyung doing the same thing back.

right before they get to the locker room, taehyung grabs jungkook's jersey, pulling him in a corner where no one can see them. "we need to talk." taehyung says. jungkook rolls his eyes.

"if you're talking about what happened in the bathroom, it didn't happen. we didn't almost kiss. we just got carried away." jungkook says, visibly frustrated. taehyung scoffs. "okay then. i think you're just too scared."

jungkook freezes at that comment. 'fuck, he knows.' jungkook thinks. "what do you mean?" he questions, no sign of nervousness in his voice. "you're intimidated by me. you're scared i'm gonna take your spot." taehyung says.

"right. well in case you forgot, i'm the captain. i can't be replaced." jungkook says, crossing his arms. taehyung shakes his head. "you've got a big storm coming for you, then. i'll make sure that spot is mine." taehyung says while walking away.

'god that was close.'

"hey, jungkook! wanna come watch yoongi's game with me?" jungkook hears hoseok ask as he's walking to the parking lot. jungkook thinks for a second, deciding he needs to take his mind off of the new kid.

the pair walk into the crowded gym and spot some friends to sit with. they notice namjoon and taemin sitting in the seats in the large arena and decide to go sit next to them. "hey guys!" hoseok greets as he sits next to taemin. "hey bro." namjoon replies.

jungkook stays silent, watching the boys warm up on the court. after about 4 minutes of watching the team shoot and pass, the buzzer goes off meaning it's time for the game to start. he watches as all the guys take off their shooting tops which reveals their jerseys.

he sees yoongi walk out to the court, along with jackson, mark, wooyoung, and jaehyung. he gets behind jaehyung who is tipping the ball off, getting ready to receive the ball. before the tip-off begins, yoongi looks over at hoseok and winks.

hoseok winks back at the boy, smiling. as if on cue, the whistle blows which starts the game. jungkook is barely watching the game, too much going on in his mind to pay attention. no matter how hard he tries, he just can't seem to get taehyung out of his mind.

he envy's yoongi and hoseok's relationship. sure they got in arguments, but all couples do. they were head over heels for each other, and it was obvious to everyone. even the little gestures such as winking or hugging each other shows how much the two boys love each other.

jungkook's thoughts are interrupted when he hears the crowd erupt from the first basket of the game being scored. and of course that basket was by yoongi, who was easily the best player on the team. yoongi scored a lot of points for the team, mostly being three pointers.

the game continues to go on, until halftime arrives. the boys get up and decide to go to the concession stand to get some snacks. on the way there, jungkook isn't paying any attention. his nose is too much in his phone, causing him to run into someone.

the two both grunt and stumble a little. "shit, sorry." jungkook says, not noticing who he had ran into. he looks up at the figure he had ran into and of course, it's taehyung. jungkook rolls his eyes. "nevermind. you really need to pay more attention." he says.

taehyung scoffs. "you're the one who didn't see me." taehyung replies. jungkook shakes his head and walks off. "an 'i'm sorry' would be nice!" he hears taehyung shout from behind him. he finally catches up with hoseok and the rest. they get in line and hoseok sighs.

"jungkook, what did i tell you earlier? you've got to at least try and be nice. he's new and he only has his siblings." hoseok says, disappointed in the boys actions. jungkook just shrugs. "he's probably already got tons of girls at his throat because he's hot." he says as if it's obvious.

hoseok is taken back by the statement, then he smirks playfully. "did i hear correctly?" he questions. jungkook looks at the boy confused. "you said taehyung was hot. you think he's hot!" hoseok says, a bit too loud for jungkook's liking. jungkook quickly covers his best friends mouth.

"shhh! and that's not what i meant." he says quietly, praying that nobody heard that sudden outburst that hoseok had. "ew! why'd you lick my hand?" jungkook says, wiping his hand on hoseok's sweatshirt. hoseok giggles. "you wouldn't take your hand off my mouth, i had no other option." he says playfully.

jungkook just shakes his head and waits to order his snack. the four boys eventually got their food and drinks and went back to their seats to watch the rest of the game. jungkook kept rolling his eyes at the cheerleaders who were gooing over him. they were obviously trying to show off their body's, pulling their skirts up a little too high.

'sucks for them, i like boys.' jungkook thinks to himself. 'wait, no! you don't like boys.' he tries to remind himself. about 30 minutes pass and the game ends. the boys go to find yoongi, waiting outside of the locker room. they notice taehyung waiting as well. "oh hey, tae!" hoseok says happily.

"hey! nice to see you here. yoongi did great!" he exclaims to the other. hoseok smiles at the name. "yeah, he's a pretty big deal over here." hoseok informs the boy who just nods in response. "so who're you waiting on?" taemin asks, trying to make conversation.

"oh, i'm waiting on jackson! he invited me over to his house to hang out and get to know each other!" he tells the boy. "that's awesome! jackson's a cool dude, he's really nice." hoseok says. the three boys continue to conversate as jungkook stays silent.

'why do i not want him to go to jackson's?'
