Maybe it's nothing. Maybe we aren't meant to be. He's a King. I'm a VK. We're from opposite sides of the barrier. We shouldn't date. He deserves a princess. But yet, he still decided to make me his queen, not that frog face Audrey. "Mal?" I had been so wound up in my thoughts I had forgotten I was on a VK day with Evie, Jay and Carlos.
"Hmm? Yeah?"I asked.
"Are you okay?"Evie continued.
"Mmm, yeah. Just..."I sighed. "Thinking..."
"About Ben?"Jay teased. "Aww!" Jay laughed. Carlos smiled. I noticed how whenever Jay laughed or smiled, Carlos would smile too. I forgot Evie was saying something as I tried to figure out why that was happening. Then it hit me. Carlos had a crush on Jay. As Jay began to speak, I noticed Carlos stare longingly at him, smiling, hanging onto his every word. Evie started shaking my shoulder, saying my name over and over again.
"Mal? Mal?!" Evie was getting impatient.
"Huh? Yeah?"
"You zoned out again!"
"Sorry..." I looked at my best friend. She raised a perfect eyebrow, then continued to talk about her date with Doug. Ben came and sat with us. He placed his arm around my shoulders and I rested my head on his shoulder. I was overreacting. We are meant to be.
