Y/n laid in bed, holding the voice recording in one hand while the other clutched an old, worn teddy bear.

Was it all a lie? When he promised to stay with her always?

He always sang it to her before tucking her into bed, whispering to her that he loved her, and telling her that won't ever leave.
But he lied.
He never came back after the strange lady appeared after Shaun, Rebecca, and her grandfather took her away. Since then, Shaun and Rebecca did their best to take care of her.
With Abstergo chasing after Y/n for her bloodline of Altair, Ezio, and Connor; Y/n is unable to have a normal childhood. Constant moving and hiding.
Shaun grew to be overprotective and paranoid. That means he wouldn't let her go outside to play with the children out on the streets.
So Y/n would look out the window, watching the children run around and play and laugh.
"Shaun, she needs to go out," Rebecca hissed to Shaun.
"It's not safe, Rebecca," Shaun hissed back.
"It's just for fifteen minutes. Fifteen!" Rebecca argued. "She needs to know what it's like to be a kid." Shaun sighed, leaning his head back.
"Fine. Fifteen minutes and that's it." Rebecca embraced Shaun and approached Y/n.
Y/n eagerly grasped Rebecca's hand and hurried outside to join the children. Meanwhile, Shaun received some files from Bishop that talked about Desmond.
Shaun picked up the voice recorder and added the files to the recorder.
Fifteen minutes passed and Rebecca brought Y/n back inside after a fight with Rebecca.
"Beccs!"
"Y/n, I promised Shaun you'll only play for fifteen minutes!"
"But-"
"I'm sorry, Y/n."
Y/n pouted at Rebecca and slumped to the window again, head resting on her arms.
That night, Shaun handed Y/n the recorder over and she frowned at him. She got into bed, pulling the covers over her head and pressed play.
"Hey, baby girl. It's daddy. Look, I know it's probably already too late to tell you what I wanted to do by now. You're, I don't know, seven? Eight? *sigh* I just wanted to tell you something before I disappeared from your life. The truth is, Y/n. I knew my time was coming to an end and fast. So I recorded this message early on and wanted Shaun or Rebecca to have it so they can give it to you when you were old enough to know the truth. You are still my sunshine, you really are. Nobody is ever going to take your place no matter how hard they try. I just want you to remember that the next time you hear a message from me. Shit, okay. I got to go soon but before I do, I'll sing you our special song, okay?
