Chapter 11: I Am Nothing

Yellow Diamond: "Oh not again. Blue calm down, this probably just means they are figuring things out, any minute now and they will be right back in that seat."

Blue Diamond: "But what if they aren't? What if they are gone for good this time?"

     I knock on the door. The other side grows quiet. The doors slide open to reveal the Diamonds looking at me. Blue Diamond was quiet, Yellow Diamond turned to her.

Yellow Diamond: "I told you they were figuring things out. But that sure is an odd spot to end up."

(Y/N): "This isn't where I reappeared. It was in my room, where I imagined myself. Being nothing apparently has it's perks."

Yellow Diamond: "I see. Then why did you, walk back?"

(Y/N): "I wanted to take the long route. Also, I didn't want to try to get back here and end up stuck somewhere."

Blue Diamond: "This is such great news. You are learning."

Yellow Diamond: "And a Diamond, apparently. Well, the training of a Diamond, this is much too important for regular gems to over see."

     Yellow Diamond, Blue Diamond, and I were in the arena.

Yellow Diamond: "A Diamond's aura is their greatest weapon, the only one we need. That's why normal gems were given a weapon to fight with. But we don't need to use such tools. My aura can be used to destabilize other gems. Blue, care to explain your specialty?"

Blue Diamond: "I can make others feel what I feel, in terms of emotions. I can do this easily by projecting and expanding my aura as a field."

Yellow Diamond: "But as a more physical aura, mine cannot be projected as a field, but instead has to be projected at a single target. Now, the other day, you seemed to have projected a field similar to your aura. When you did that, my attack disappeared. Is there anything you know about that?"

(Y/N): "Well, when I was training with Ruby and Holly Green, I was able to dismiss their weapons, and then I was able to use them. But, I am still unsure if I can."

Yellow Diamond: "Well, give it a try then."

     I tried to summon Ruby's Javelin, but it didn't work. I summoned my Karambit, then dismissed it, and tried for the Javelin again. Nothing.

(Y/N): "I guess it was only those two times."

Yellow Diamond: "Twice you say?"

(Y/N): "Yes, I guess, one for the first one she summoned, and then the second one was when she tried to summon it again. But then, does that mean...?"

     I summoned Holly Green's sword, but it was black, as always.

(Y/N): "I think, I can absorb weapons. This is Holly Green's sword. But it is also the only one I have. So, once I dismiss this, I can't use it until I absorb it again."

Yellow Diamond: "I see. I want you to try to use my ability."

(Y/N): "Okay."

     I emptied my mind, took a deep breath, and held my hand out. I imagined energy running through my arm, around it. I imagined lightning, I thought of it leaping from my hand to the ground in front of me. And it did. A black bolt of energy shot from my hand.

Yellow Diamond: "Hmm, that seemed to be all of it. Try again."

     I pointed out my arm, and I replicated my thoughts and actions from before, and I shot out even more, this time, I maintained it.

Blue Diamond: "Yellow look. Their aura. It looks just like yours."

Yellow Diamond: "Hmm, aura replication. Quit useful, and interesting."

     I stopped and put down my hand.

Yellow Diamond: "This is quite interesting, a Diamond gem, who has an aura, can summon weapons, teleport, and cease to exist. Hard to believe you're human."

Blue Diamond: "Yes, not to mention their ability to summon ice and fire."

Yellow Diamond: "Yes. Gems are able to alter their forms. Do you think you can do that as well?"

(Y/N): "I don't know, it's worth a shot."

Yellow Diamond: "Okay. So you claim your ability is all about how you are nothing, and you are you. This is a fact you know and accept. But what if you, weren't you?"

(Y/N): "I think I get what you're saying. Similar to how I can teleport, disappear, and reappear, what if I can disappear, and reappear as something else?"

Yellow Diamond: "Yes, maybe."

      I nod and close my eye. I am nothing, I am nowhere, here, I am everything and everywhere, but right now, I am not me. Who am I? I am, Blue Diamond, in the arena. I opened my eyes. I seemed to be very tall. Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond looked at me.

Yellow Diamond: "Well, that sure is something. Gems can't even cause a color change but you. Well, this is amazing."

Blue Diamond: "Certainly. That is quite the ability. Quite the skill set you have."

(Y/N) (as Blue Diamond): "This is, very weird. Everything is so small, and wow."

     I quickly disappeared and became myself again.

(Y/N): "I really don't like heights, but that was, dizzying. I was tall, but proportionally I wasn't. That was so confusing. And when I talked, I could hear that I was talking, but it wasn't my voice, it didn't feel like it was truly me."

Yellow Diamond: "Interesting, something you will have to over come, but for now, training is over. We have made a lot of progress, and while, I may not like to admit it. You are a Diamond, and I am glad to have you as one of us."

     I smiled as I looked up at them.

(Y/N): "Thank you. And I am getting quite tired. Thank you so much for today."
