Chapter 4 - Telling My Parents

It was later the night and Maya was sitting at dinner with her mother and Shawn.
She was feeling very nauseas and they knew that.
She wasn't eating much knowing she'll probably throw up.
She can't think straight right now.
She stands up from the table and goes to lie down on the couch.

Shawn and Katy looks at each other before Shawn stood up.
He walked over to Maya and sat down next to her seeing the tears in her eyes.
He gave Katy a look and knew something was wrong.
But what he didn't know.

"Maya what it is?" Shawn asked as he brushed a hair out of her face.
"What is wrong Sweetheart?" Shawn asked and Maya began to sob.
"Hey it's okay. You can trust me. You know that," Shawn said and Maya sat up straight.

Katy had sat down next to her daughter and saw for the first time the shallow tears in her eyes.
It was now streaming down her face which couldn't be avoided.
Shawn and Katy sat on opposite sides of her holding her tight.

"What is it Baby Girl?" Katy asked and Maya looked up.
"I'm pregnant," Maya said and Shawn's eyes widened.
"Are you sure?" Shawn asked and Maya nod.
"Okay we'll take you to the doctor as soon as we can. Maybe it is just a negative test. You can't be too sure Maya. When was your last period? That's the first sign," Katy said.
"Two months," Maya said and Shawn's eyes widened.
"Okay but you've never had a regular one so that's okay. I'll get you an appointment at the doctor then we can find out what is reallh going on. We aren't acting on it yet," Katy said.
"Okay," Maya said.
"I'm gonna run you a bubble bath. You need it and then you go straight to bed, okay? Tomorrow everything will be better," Shawn said giving Maya a kiss on her head before standing up.
