Imagine: Something mysterious happening while Sam's gone (Imagine #23 pt 3)

A day passed. It was Saturday night, and Jess and I were still alone. Well, now it was just me. I walked in the apartment, and I didn't hear from Jess. She let me go out with a couple friends today.

"Jess?!" I yelled, closing the door behind me and locking it. "Jess, I'm home! I brought food!"

I walked in her and Sam's bedroom, but she wasn't in there. I furrowed my eyebrows. She probably got caught with her friends or something. I walked in my room, tossing my bag down and then going to set her food in the mini fridge. I was sitting in my room, reading a book, but I suddenly smelled something bad, like something was rotten. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion again, looking around. I bookmarked my book and I followed the smell, and I bent down to see a yellow substance. I put my finger in it, getting grossed out. I smelled it.

     Sulfur.

"What the hell?" I whispered to myself, rubbing it off my fingers.

I rushed to my room, grabbing my phone from my bag. I called Sam, just a voicemail. I rolled my eyes, my leg bouncing up and down rapidly because of my anxiety.

"Sam, I need you to come home," I started a voice message. "It's Jess. Something's wrong."

I ended it, sending it to him. I nibbled my thumbnail, trying to decide what to do. I looked over at my closet, getting an idea. I got up, opening it and seeing an old duffle bag full of weapons. Sam said to only use it for emergencies. I looked around, still no sign of Jess. I grabbed the bag, tossing it on my bed. I opened it cautiously.

Inside was all the weapons Dad gave me. Of course in our line of work, they were a must-have. I looked through for holy water when there was a creak in the other room. I froze, not sure if I was ready for a demon. I pulled out the holy water, counting in my head before going to investigate. I finally got the nerve to turn around and walk out of the room, holy water with me. I went around the apartment step by step, not finding anything out of the ordinary. I landed back in Sam and Jess' room. I sighed, realizing I may have been overreacting. The sulfur may have been just a coincidence.

I shrugged it off, cleaning up my mess and going back to reading my book. I eventually went to sleep with chills running up my spine.
