Imagine: Hanging back in the bunker while the boys are out of town, planning a surprise dinner for Dean, who doesn't know you're pregnant with his child. But when only one Winchester comes back, things change.

I walked into the library again, holding the pie in my hands. I set it down with all the other food, sighing. I grabbed the chair next to me, looking at the arrangement I set up. I smirked, pulling the pregnancy test out of my pocket. I was so excited to tell Dean.

As I grabbed plates from the kitchen and walked back down the hall, the door opened, making a loud creak in the main room. I walked in, looking up. Sam came in, holding the bag over his shoulder. He looked exhausted as he came down the steps.

"Hey!" I greeted, looking behind him, seeing Dean wasn't there. "Took you guys long enough. I've been meaning to, uh, talk to you both. Where's...where's Dean?"

Sam looked over at me, and I noticed the gloomy expression on his face as I looked at him. I got confused, my face faded.

"Sam, what's -- what's going on?" I asked, still not getting any answers. "Where's Dean?"

He just stood there. Tears filled his eyes as he dropped his head, setting his duffle bag on the table. I swallowed, mood starting to match his as my heart pumped against my chest.

"Alright, you're scaring me," I told him.

"Y/N, Dean, uh..." Sam tried, and my breath caught in my throat. "We caught a case. Things kind of...went sideways on us. Dean's gone. I'm so sorry."

I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. My eyes became glossy as I dropped the glass plates in my hands, and they shattered at my feet. It's like everything in me just stopped. I started falling, and Sam jumped forward to grab my arms as I set my hand on the map table for support. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a comforting embrace. I took in a deep gasp.

"Y/N, it's ok," Sam said, his own voice breaking. "It's gonna be ok. Just breathe."

I took deep breaths, starting to sob. I closed my eyes, hugging Sam tighter. It didn't even feel real. The love of my life was gone. And I couldn't fix it.
