Remus wasn't ready. It was far too soon, and Thomas hadn't even been properly affected yet. The Duke hadn't properly processed it, didn't have any time to heal.

"Deceit?"

He looked the same as he did before, the exact same; you could say identical. That made Remus' heart clench.

And he hadn't really noticed it until now, but Deceit looked genuinely happy, talking to Patton. Even if he was totally confused as to why he was there.

In fact, he looked more happy than he ever did.

That was just from his smile.

Deceit was about to open his mouth to reply to something that Patton had said, when Remus ran up to him, tears building in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around him, hugging tightly.

Nothing was said between the two for a moment. Until,

"Uhh... what are you doing?"

Remus instantly pulled away, panic clear on his face. "Dee Dee?" He whispered, the panic turning to hurt.

"Roman, who is this?"

The prince frowned, and looked at his brother with sad eyes.

"Remus, this is the new Deceit, Deceit, this is Remus, my brother."

The Duke's breath hitched as the snake like side looked repulsed at the sight of the other man, especially now that he could see his face properly.

"You're not my Dee Dee. No, you wouldn't judge me..." Remus mumbled, sinking down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You say there's so much you don't know
You need to go and find yourself
You say you'd rather be alone
'Cause you think you won't find it tied to someone else
Ooh, who said it's true
That the growing only happens on your own?
They don't know me and you
I don't think you have to leave
If to change is what you need
You can change right next to me
When you're high, I'll take the lows
You can ebb and I can flow
And we'll take it slow
And grow as we go
Grow as we go
You won't be the only one
I am unfinished, I've got so much left to learn
I don't know how this river runs
But I'd like the company through every twist and turn
Ooh, who said it's true
That the growing only happens on your own?
They don't know me and you
You don't ever have to leave
If to change is what you need
You can change right next to me
When you're high, I'll take the lows
You can ebb and I can flow
And we'll take it slow
And grow as we go
Grow as we go
Grow as we go
Grow as we go
I don't know who we'll become
I can't promise it's not written in the stars
But I believe that when it's done
We're gonna see that it was better
That we grew up together
Tell me you don't wanna leave
'Cause if change is what you need
You can change right next to me
When you're high, I'll take the lows
You can ebb and I can flow
We'll take it slow
And grow as we go
Grow as we go
Grow as we go
Grow as we go"
Remus was almost completely,
emotionally destroyed, by the time Deceit had finished singing.
He had sang the song so beautifully, and now, he could barely control his tears.
See, the snake hardly ever sang, and when he did, it was so, so pure. Remus didn't think he deserved the love.
There was a hand stroking his cheek, before it moved to his hair, and then, there was a pair of lips on his forehead.
"The song, do you really mean it?" Remus questioned, breathing in his boyfriend's scent as much as he could.
Deceit smiled softly, as he used his free hand to help himself shuffle further up against the headboard.
This caused Remus to sink down, head now resting on his stomach.
"Of course I mean it, Rem. Every word."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
