Sleeping is the hardest part of the day.

to scratching at your legs in frustration
to whining and huffing
and letting tears spill
to soaked pillows and damp shirts
to jerking back awake
at dreams you never thought you would see again,
I know.
But there is no glory in pills
and in people
and in artificial alternatives.
"I came, I saw, I conquered."
Is an emotion that I will never
know.
